Georgia has 9,687,653+ people, Manitoba has 1,232,654 + people. 75% to 90% of people in Manitoba are hockey fans and Georgia has at least 12% of its residents say they like hockey than chances are good that Georgia has more hockey fans than Manitoba. To be honest, this whole Winnipeg thing has been a debacle anyway. Ignoring that Phoenix should have been moved first, and the fact that ASG didn't really try to keep the team in Atlanta all that hard.
It's just shameful, the NHL is forcing the new team in Winnipeg to start out in the Southeast division starting them out immediately with a huge stumbling block because they don't want Winnipeg to have 'em.

I really feel bad for Atlanta Thrashers fans with all the misfortunes. From losing the Flames, seeing a star player like Dany Heatley leave after that accident (RIP Dan Snyder) & other stars' departures and overall poor ownership, things inevitably went down hill. Unfortunately, our consolation doesn't bring back a franchise. Being in Chicago, I've seen Thrashers prospects develop with the Wolves, and it hurts to see the team go. Best wishes to thrashers fans.

@canucks123123 Apparently spelling, proper word usage, and grammar weren't "born in canada" ... but seriously kid Atlanta is a city of transplants. All of our sports team lack popularity because of the simple fact that our citizens already root for another team. The bottom line is that 80% of those "12,000 people a game" were there EVERY GAME. I've been out of work for the year and have managed to make it to 25% of the home games.
I'm glad Winnipeg got a team, but it's sad that it's ours.

Yea I totally agree w/ the song, yea people can talk about the attendance and the sponsors not putting money in the team, but I believe the responsibility lies on the Atlanta Spirit and the NHL. It felt like the Spirit never really cared about the team from the moment they acquired them, and the NHL is doing all they can to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix but turned a blind eye to the Thrashers being sold and sent up north. I still am very sad to see them go.

I really appreciate this song. I am a hockey player. I was born in Boston, lived in Michigan, went to college in Pittsburgh, but i grew up in Georgia. Thrashers were my team. it's so sad. This is almost exactly how I feel if I summed it up in a song. The Atlanta Spirit definatly did not try to keep the team here, and going to the NHL for help is the worst thing anyone could have done. Of course the NHL is going to move a team to Canada if they get a chance to and that is exactly how the Spirit presented it to them I bet. Plus the big drama that Air Canada put up about revoking its sponsorship from the NHL had to get repaired somehow right?

I spent a few hours to gather all the information on NHL team owners except for the Red Wing and Canadian teams.
Please share this list on Facebook and on your website. I'm going to contact everyone on that list. Urge fans to do the same thing. If just several owners voters are convinced by us the fans that infact the move is bad for the sport and the owners made no attempt to keep the team in Atlanta, then maybe it could make a difference. You never know if you don't try...

To be honest, this whole Winnipeg thing has been a debacle anyway. Ignoring that Phoenix should have been moved first, and the fact that ASG didn't really try to keep the team in Atlanta all that hard.
It's just shameful, the NHL is forcing the new team in Winnipeg to start out in the Southeast division starting them out immediately with a huge stumbling block because they don't want Winnipeg to have 'em.
This whole thing is ludicrous and the sooner Bettman goes the sooner it'll fix itself.

As a Winnipegger I can honestly say I know how the true Thrashers fans feel. The fans that actually made it to the games and supported the team.
We're super excited to have the team. We sold out the next 5 years in 17 minutes. :)

From one uke player to another - great job! I am a Calgary Flames fan (please don't be mad! I wasn't born when they moved!) But last year I started cheering for the Thrashers. I even bought an Evander Kane jersey! (I love the blue home jerseys of the Thrashers)

Gah! This song again. I always think Garfunkle and Oates when I see this song title and then it's always a cover of that rap douche's song instead. (Although there was a video of Gwyneth Paltrow singing a version of the rapper's **** You on some show, and surprisingly that version of it actually wasn't bad.)

Excellent song. I'm sorry that you are losing your team. We lost our team to Phoenix in 1996 and I know exactly how you feel. Only difference is that we knew we were losing our team and had 1 more season to say goodbye. Maybe you might want to continue being a fan of the franchise even though they're moving here to Winnipeg. On second thought, probably not as I had a strong hate for Phoenix when our Jets relocated. I do not blame you guys; but it hurts really bad and I have to be honest I cannot see myself rooting for your team or any NHL team because I am done with this sport. I really feel bad for Atlanta Thrashers fans with all the misfortunes. From losing the Flames, seeing a star player like Dany Heatley leave after that accident (RIP Dan Snyder) & other stars' departures and overall poor ownership, things inevitably went down hill. Unfortunately, our consolation doesn't bring back a franchise. Being in Chicago, I've seen Thrashers prospects develop with the Wolves, and it hurts to see the team go. Best wishes to thrashers fans.

Your song is like bubble gum mixed with glass. It's delivered with a beautiful voice and sound but it has a very blunt message to it. As a Canadian, I'm very happy that Winnipeg has a team. It just sucks that it had to be yours. After the mess in the desert, you would think the NHL would try a little harder to save your Thrashers. Speaking of thinking twice. I would feel sorry for any fool breaking your heart. I look forward to hear more songs from you.

What is really bad is that the team really never gave itself a chance the diifernt owners groups never got behind the team, traded every good young player. For all of the dire hard fans that paid big bucks to sit in Phillips and go through the hassell of going downtown I am truly sorry. I honestly feel bad that you lost your team. However it's hard to blame them for selling a franchise that has lost 130 million over the past 5 seasons. There's only so much you can put up with before something drastic has to happen. It makes no sense as a business to keep losing millions uon millions every year.

Even as die-hard hockey fans, they haven't resorted to childish name calling like all the Phoenix players and fans did when threatened with relocation. @canucks123123 Apparently spelling, proper word usage, and grammar weren't "born in canada" ... but seriously kid Atlanta is a city of transplants. All of our sports team lack popularity because of the simple fact that our citizens already root for another team. The bottom line is that 80% of those "12,000 people a game" were there EVERY GAME. I've been out of work for the year and have managed to make it to 25% of the home games.
I'm glad Winnipeg got a team, but it's sad that it's ours.

Yea I totally agree w/ the song, yea people can talk about the attendance and the sponsors not putting money in the team, but I believe the responsibility lies on the Atlanta Spirit and the NHL. It felt like the Spirit never really cared about the team from the moment they acquired them, and the NHL is doing all they can to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix but turned a blind eye to the Thrashers being sold and sent up north. I still am very sad to see them go.

He knows several fans and people in the Atlanta hockey community and has seen it grow. Has it grown tremendously, not really. Is that all our fault? I really appreciate this song. I am a hockey player. I was born in Boston, lived in Michigan, went to college in Pittsburgh, but i grew up in Georgia. Thrashers were my team. it's so sad. This is almost exactly how I feel if I summed it up in a song. The Atlanta Spirit definatly did not try to keep the team here, and going to the NHL for help is the worst thing anyone could have done. Of course the NHL is going to move a team to Canada if they get a chance to and that is exactly how the Spirit presented it to them I bet. Plus the big drama that Air Canada put up about revoking its sponsorship from the NHL had to get repaired somehow right?

We lost the Jets 15 years ago... I assure you, we can relate to your sediments. Coming from a Winnipeg fan, great job on the song. It sucks losing a team - I know. Of course, I'm happy to be getting a team, but it's always sad for real fans like yourself who get screwed over by forces they can't control.

I have to laugh at Canadians making comments about her bashing the team...NO, she's bashing the ownership group (they deserve 99% of the blame for not keeping Heatley/Hossa, Kovalchuk, Lehtonen and Marc Savard) and bashing Bettman for protecting Phoenix and not Atlanta. I'm happy for the city of Winnipeg, but it should have been Phoenix losing their team. BTW, Tally, you should have added an F.U. for ATL Mayor Kasim Reed and his half-assed effort to save the Thrashers.
