  • Hi David,

    Absolutely terrific!

Any chance you do 'Love is the Sweetest Thing'? One of Ray Noble's greatest.

Keep up the good work and a Happy New 2012!

  • Hi David -- This is my FAVORITE of all your videos!!! I love the style of Charlie Kunz and the selections you chose you play! Those songs have endured and remained popular over the years!

Please bring back more of them ..... Thank you.

  • now thats what I call MUSIC!

  • FELIZ AÑO DESDE MEXICO SALUDOS ... UNIVERSALMENTE LA MUSICA ES UN ARTE DESDE EL MOMENTO EN QUE DIOS TE PERMITE EXPRESARTE CON ESE DON...MUY BELLAS TUS INTERPRETACIONES SOY ARQUITECTO E INTERESADO EN APRENDER A TOCAR PIANO,

  • What an incredible rendition. If I hadnt known better I would have said that was an early recording of Charlie Kunz. He had a unique and very enjoyable style of playing. And this is incredibly enjoyable . Wish I could play lke that, instead of constant classical music. Now way too old to learn, I have tried but cant master the timing etc.

  • @steinwaygrande1 Thank you for your most gracious comment. I just finished typing a message to you but find I cannot send it to you as you have blocked some messages. You must have a reason.

    Anyway best wishes from me.

    David

  • @forwardtenth Hi David. I recently had my computer in for repairs adn for some reason after getting it back, some people can not send me messages and others can. I have not the faintest idea why this is happening nor do I have the computer skills to solve this problem. I do have a collection of Charlie Kunz on the old 33 1/3rd RPM records and a friend of mine who was kin England several years ago brought me back about a dozen CDs of Charlie Kunz. Great to listen to on long car journeys.

  • Poor Butterfly, was one of my favorites. Then I hear ?? after you're gone. What a pleasure to listen.

  • @vindicari Thank you for listening and making the comment.

    Regards

    David

  • Absolutely wonderful and very well done Sir !

  • @57AGENTA Thank you for taking the time to listen and, most importantly, to make a comment. Regards David

  • @K0rgPA60 Wow you are a stickler. I have just tried to listen to all vids since day one. Some of them seem,to me, to be quite aweful to look at. I hope you enjoyed what you saw and gleaned some info from the vids. They seemed relevant at the time but now seem to me to be well dated. Regards \david

  • @K0rgPA60 Your comments are most welcome. It's funny I am also lookint,at this moment, at my old vids from the first awful vid of Sally and wondering why You Tubers are still, commenting and rating. I haven't looked at the old ones since I posted them until today.

Some of them seem to me to be not very good. I am surprised that you could concentrate for so long on just my vids. There are Tubers who say to me "forget the keyboard just do piano" but I do like some of my keyboard versions.

    David

  • Hey David! I have seen most of your videos and I love your playing. Wish I could come over to your house and hang out; but, I suppose youtube is the best I'll get as far as hanging out with you. Thanks for introducing me to Charlie Kunz. Since hearing this, I have educated myself on Kunz and have become a great fan. Keep posting great music for us to enjoy!!

  • no doubt about you fw'tenth , a real maestro performance . thanks , talk later

  • Liking Charlie Kunz was one of the few things my father and maternal grandmother shared. And though as a child I professed to prefer pop, I hung around on the stairs to hear Charlies medleys. In the 80s I picked up a second-hand cassette which I still have. Then with the net, I re-discovered him with a few clicks. I do not think Kunz is outdated in the way that Winifred Atwells or Mrs Mills honky-tonk knees-up piano is. Kunz music has a certain timeless gentle sophistication that endures.

  • Dear David: I was so thrilled to find your video on YouTube. Your styling brought. tears to my eyes. Please post another medley.

  • Still play Charlie Kunz on the wind up gramaphone. Thank you for your playing.

  • I went to the ITN Source site - it seems that you can no longer download the clips even if you register :-(

  • Did you manage to see the Charlie Kunz Videos or were you put off by the message no preview available. Let me know how far you got and I'll try to help. I have just visited the ITN Source site and have looked at tthe videos again. Once into the site where the Kunz videos are located click "View this story" and a box should appear saying "Do you want to open or save this file" Regards David

  • I tried but still the same message - page unavailable even though I registered. Perhaps it's because I'm outside the UK....

  • David, I want to thank you for your music and for introducing me to the music of Charlie Kunz! I am now a fan of both of you. That's what I love about being a "You Tuber" -- hearing music of yesteryear and learning of the artists who played it. Please continue to share your music.

  • Thank you so much for your message. I'm pleased you have found Charlie Kunz, he was American but moved to England and found fame. Have you checked out his Videos on ITN Source - The British Pathe Newsreels from long ago. They are well worth looking at. The instructions are on my 1934 Cover Video. Regards David

  • I have listened to Charlie Kunz since I was a kid (my grandad used to try and play like him) and we had so many of his 78s (now all lost). I really liked watching and hearing you play and wish I could play the same - how can I learn? Thanks so much for performing for us!

  • Thanks for your interest. My father had many of his old 78's, also new long lost. I wish I could tell you how you could learn but I,m afraid that the style of playing as Charlie Kunz, Russ Conway and Winfred Attwell and a few others did is now too old fashioned for anyone to bother teaching the Forward and Reverse Tenth method any more. Regards David

  • I do not agree with your statement that the style of playing is now too old-fashioned. Music dies out only if we let it die, or let record companies and the marketing people tell us what we should like . Look how popular Max Raabe and the Palast orchestra is becoming. Charlie Kunz, Winifred Attwell and others created something very special which was strongly connected with a huge change in our times. I hope that a revival will happen!

  • Love your music David.

  • Thank you for your kind comment. Feed back is most important to all You Tube performers and it is good of you to have taken the time to comment. Have you checked out Charlie Kunz on ITN Source, (see the description for instructions). The videos are a blast from the past and are well worth seeing. Regards David

  • What can I say. You should be in a recording studio.. It would make a lot of people happy. Many Thanks for these videos.

  • I,m a little too old for recording studios but I do like to play for You Tube audiences. Regards David

  • Molto bella la sua interpretazione, bravo.

    Edgar

  • Thank you for your message I am a little confused by it . Your message seems to be in the Italian Language but Fado Coimbra and Madeira are Portugese. Unfortunately I cannot comunicate in either, I can only speak a little French and Spanish. I have found a copy of April in Portugal and note that you have already viewed a Lee Liberace version on You Tube. I cannot equal that performance but will look at putting the tune in a medley of like songs. Regards David

  • Wow.. that is unbeliavable! You're really good. I'm stunned, really. Awesome job!

  • Thanks for you message. Have you checked out the real thing- my favourite is Charlie playing on the airport tarmac - look it up on ITN Source. Regards David

  • WOW! all i can say is WOW! UR GOOD!

  • Thanks PMT for looking at the vids I have had a lot of practice - been playing since I was six - thats a lot of years. If you love the piano you have to pick up a few tips in that kind of time time(over 60 years) Keep posting and always check who you talk to. Regards David

  • David, Can you give me some tips how to access british pathe on the internet to find Charlie Kunz films clips? I have searched and get no results :-(

  • The Tops! Charlie is right here!

  • Thank you for your kind comment I am pleased you enjoyed listening to it. Regards David

  • That you for your comment. If you want see more of Good Old Charlie check out British Pathe on the internet and type in Charlie Kunz. there are several clips of Charlie playing. • Good to hear from you again - thanks for the stars. I downloaded the "To Zanarkand" sheets and am practicing - but here are so many excellent versions already out there. Regards David

  • David, Great job, wonderful touch!!! I watched the original Charlie Kunz version a few times in between watching yours a few times as well. I have to rate your version at least one star higher than the other one, perhaps two. Definitely 5 stars here! Thanks for sharing your work, Tom

  • First rate as ever! Quote: "I hope that there are "You Tubers" out there who still want to listen and appreciate the bygone age of gentle music." Well I for one am one of those youtubers (and only 23- interest in this bygone era is still alive and well!)

  • Thank you for your comment. I,ll get back to you as soon as I work out out how to do it. Regards David
