With an episodic show like this, you're given lots of leeway and you can make lots of guesses about nearly everything. I like to believe that the show simply reveals some of his "non-stealing" exploits, but that he really is a genius criminal who steals from the rich, just like in the books. How else would he be able to afford a submarine? They just don't really show that here for the sake of the kids watching, probably. ;) ...I think I'm thinking this through a bit too much. haha
@Langager90 I like yours too! He probably knows how to manage wealth very well after seeing how the rich from which he stole tend to spend it so flippantly.

@doctordisturbo It's a great theory, my theory is that he's retired from stealing after having obtained enough money to last a lifetime.
