my grandpa didn't fight in the WW2, but he did participate: He hid allied pilots that were shot down over norway in his basement. ( he had a secret room ) But someone told it to the germans after a while and he was arrested. He was just to board the train to berlin, when the message came that the war has ended! :D

my great grand father fought in both world wars and came back, but then again, he didnt have an amazing job, he was a cook and he drove the men behind enemy lines, he onlly got a gun once and that was in world war two when the forward base was attacked, my great grandpa loved to tell us stories abotu the war, but eventualy he died of old age at the age of 97

I think it;s great that you people are honouring/ remembering your grandfathers but I just want to point out one thing, you cant "miss" your grandfather because first of all you havn;t met him unless you were a toddler ( which I doubt you remember ). Even if you did meet him I doubt he was even in the physical condition to fight. So if you entered an error it's okay but for those of you that are lying about their Gfathers are just PATHETIC since their trying to find some attention.

hey, why you wont remember the Germans? i know you think they were the ``bad guys``, but only 10% of Germans were nazis. The penal battalions, sonderabteilung, wehrmacht, luftwaffe, kriegsmarine. They were normal army. The wffen-ss was a nazi special guards, but some of them were only elite troopers, not nazis!

@santtu94 Thank you for that comment... Hardly any American knows that, and as an Austrian, i cant really explain that in english, so I'm glad that is said. Also my Grandparents had to fight .. Fortunately they both survived but died in the last 15 years
