It more closely resembles what Erle Montaigue referred to as Tai Chi Chee Sau or sticky hands. Southern Mantis and Pan Nam WC sticky hands is similar.
Power? Of pushing? In Taichi they speak all about fajing, rooting and so on, but who is capable to really do it? 20-30 years of training? That's bullshit, in real WC (not that "for all" version you see 99% in the videos) it's common in few years and the technique is by far better.
Chen Xiao Wang? Who cares, I see 2 pushing man that would be outfucked by every at least decent WC practician.
I agree, WC is much quicker to learn. 3 years and you'd probably = 7-10yrs taiji.
have you ever worked out with a good taiji practitioner (7-10yrs)? their root is usually very strong and their sensitivity is very high.
also i'm not sure what you're talking about pushing. in chi sao you are pressing on your opponent to find and connect to their center. what if you cannot find it? usually you are outskilled. that is the feeling i get when working out with a very good taiji practitioner.
Every day training good WC you will understand how lucky you are.
In WC you learn to root etc. at least at the same level as in Taichi, but you learn a incomparable better fighting tecnique.
Real Taichi, very very rare nowadays, is good, but WC is way better and covers all TC can offer you.
No, Chi Sau is only specific attribute training, you don't push to the center, that's bullshit from the common "Kung Fu for all" WC or WT (even worse), it holds by itself through "structure".
i was going to write a proper response, but since you do not understand the purpose of chi sao i won't continue.
as for taiji, you will only begin to appreciate the art with a better understanding of it, perhaps a better understanding of gongfu in general. how you will achieve this, i do not know.
And so you want to teach me what's about Chi Sau (rolling hands)? You haven't any clue about as I assume, only that common "press to the center" bullshit. That's a game for itself, real WC is very different.
I understand TC way better than you, as I see. But you have also to understand WC, or better, it's not your fault, you are only conditioned from that usual "Chain punch- press to the centerline" fake WC.
@FightingWarrior Where r u comin from with this? The few WC guys I've fought were very fast n aggressive, but they had pretty weak root. I see that u throw a bit more body weight into your punches than most VCppl. Is that what you mean?
Complete and autentic WC is very very very rare. From what school/lineage were those guys? Standing square and chainpunching is NOT WC, or better, only an exercise for arms.
My punching video is old and surpassed, it's not pure WC.
the first of the last two pushes does connect to cxw body....does he move, his front foot about an inch, so soemone who has tarined enough to even think about challenging him throws a push at him and moves him about as much as a tree moves when pushed. serious root! i agree with the stament that he was being polite.
tat's wat the chen style always practice...they never use qi at all ...so they can only play with people from whai jia quan and themself internally who only use strength and certain pushing technique ... can't play with real taiji using qi , real taiji push hand always wan the opponent to use strength , so is definitely v effective and easy on such people who like to use strength(zhou li)..haha
This video caused hot discussion in some Chinese BBS. But at least, still some points can be found. For example, at 1:17-1:21, CXW was moved by his arms pushed by his opponent. The pushing didn't arrive CXW's body, but CXW still moved backward. This movement shows that CXW's body is stiff at least at that moment, and his relaxation is not enough. As being regarded as a famous Master, the basic relaxation's should be easily carried out in daily life.
I'm not certain of your commentary's pointon this. It's interesting to watch. Seems CXW was being as polite as possible. But it does not be appear to be a true match, let alone a challenge; more an invitation to test CXW's skill. In the end, the tester resorts to throwing weight into a push (and not in a correct manner for sun style that I've ever seen).

A decent WC practician would destroy'em in that hand-contact game

i would disagree. very few WC practitioners are capable of dealing with the power of taiji. in that video is chen xiao wang...

a friendly match for sure.
but why (the real level)?
simply vectoring forces is not getting anything done.

in the whole video CXW is pushing liao bai around. CXW looks like he was being very polite and only neutralizing liao bai's attacks.
