I find it silly that people are missing the humor and are looking for a lesson for their kids in these commercials.

It is not a kid product they are selling.  They assumed the adults they are targeting would be smart enough to know it is over the top humor. This wouldn't be funny with a luxury vehicle like a Porsche or BMW but for a Toyota...yeah...it is humor.

Sad thing is, I bet you the kids understand the humor better than their parents.

Most of us went through the peer pressure stage where we either wanted to fit in or be considered cool. These commercials are just poking a little fun at those times from a kids point of view. It is not glorifying it...just humor.

Not everything has to be PC or the "right message" to be enjoyable, educational and memorable. Their job was to get the Highlander name out there in a memorable way and let you know about the features...job well done.

As far as the line of commercials, it is just humor. They are not trying to teach your kids anything. A Highlander is a mid level car for the masses...not a luxury vehicle...so it is not about class. They are just going over the top and exaggerating to show that you can still have a family car without compromising style.

I bought a brand new Lexus in 07 and I had the same problems that Toyotas had so many times but apparently I am a much better driver and got the damn thing under control. I still like Toyota but they aren't all that they are cracked up to be from my own personal experience.
