I realize it is highly unusual to "require" a person to purchase something, however, remember when an uninsured person becomes sick or injured and receives medical treatment, they simply can't pay. What happens then is hospitals increase their fees to offset the lost revenue, pass it on to the insurance companies, who pass it on to you and me. THAT'S bullshit.

For the most part, my people are healthy, mostly accidentally, just genes. I don't think there SHOULD be pre-existing conditions that absolutely DENY coverage, but you can't get car insurance AFTER you wreck, so I don't know HOW the hell that would work.

@DTansy Well, it may interest you to know that when I recently transitioned from a group plan to an individual plan (my COBRA period was nearing its end) I was DENIED coverage from Cigna, Blue Cross, and Humana because of....are you ready.......SEASONAL ALLERGIES. Aetna finally approved me but only after I agreed to pay double the regular monthly premium. (a full, 100%-mark-up).
Insurance companies look for ANY excuse not to insure people. This insanity MUST stop.

I realize it is highly unusual to "require" a person to purchase something, however, remember when an uninsured person becomes sick or injured and receives medical treatment, they simply can't pay. What happens then is hospitals increase their fees to offset the lost revenue, pass it on to the insurance companies, who pass it on to you and me. THAT'S bullshit.

"Wheat" is also not explicitly mentioned in the Constitution, but the issue here wasn't "wheat" itself, it was the impact that growing or not growing wheat was having on interstate commerce, and thus the economy, as a whole.
