We all miss Steve Morse terribly, but remnember, he has a family and worked his entire career before Deep Purple like a goddamned dog just to make ends meet. DP can't last too much longer, at which point we will hopefully get Steve to ourselves until he hands it up. Perhaps in his old age he will pull some more greatness out of the hat. I was thinking the other day his skills must be getting a little rusty; DP stuff is easy....

God, I miss the SMB! I saw the last tour, and it just didn't do it for me, not the same energy or tightness, which makes sense since its not their regular gig anymore. I hope he quits Deep Purple soon, and starts doing gigs on his own. The last CD didn't have the emotion to me, that made me love his music so much.

Look at his demeanor while playing.He's truly having fun playing,he's not getting all caught up in himself,making gyrations,and looking like he's having sex with his guitar, like some other guitarist with the same first name(Hint S.V.) that he is often compared to.That guitarist is absolutely in love with himself,and often plays with a symphony just to grandstand.Don't get me wrong "That" guitarist is awesome but This Steve is a humble,genuine nice guy who loves playing for us,not just for him.

WOW- 30 years ago and still amazing! The fact that the "Robert Plant" look-alike bassist can match Steve note for note is awesome!Truly, heavy metal bands and jazz bands better pay MAD props to these guys! @divgtrslingr Dude, trust me I understand, but don't get frustrated by the "music" that performers like gaga make. Just keep in mind that most people cannot "hear" what Steve and Dave are doing. To them it is all just a lot of noise. They aren't capable of catching the nuance and delicacies of the notes and the way its all masterfully put together. Folks in that category don't need our scorn, rather they deserve our pity because they will never know the joy that we do!

People should have to cross themselves when mentioning the name Steve Morse. If his playing ability is not scary enough, his composition skills are downright petrifying! Two handed guitar playing at it's best.

@Tzachi076S I'm referring to Steve 's style of picking every note, while other guitarists use hammer-ons and pull-offs without even using their picking hand to generate sound. So, yes you can (and some do on occasion) play with one hand.

Strange that I haven't thought of it before, but after seeing Steve at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT, I have to comment on how QUIET the people are here in Germany. I almost clobbered two different people while SMB was playing because they were literally yelling at each other during the concert and it killed the experience. The ambient level of noise is so high in most places they play there is no chance of having the intimate experience you COULD have if everyone would shut the %&!$ up!
