Ride on Kassie! I started surfing "The Bu" in 1965 as a kid. My mom dropped me off like you describe. Even surfed at night too during big swells and no cords!!! That was a good long board era with Dora, "No Pants" Lance and company. Now I live in New Zealand in Taranaki and ride a 6'8" thruster. We just had an ASP Womens event back in April. Our "Golden Girl" is Paige Hareb and comming on fast is Sarah Mason. She beat both Stephie Gilmore and Paige in great surf. Lots of great lefts down here!

Longboarding is for the elderly. IF you want to see 100 times the action with half the effort, look up 10 year old pool skater. Thanks to Redbull and this "promotion", my board gets dinged everytime I surf there at night now. It WAS once a place that a pro could get some waves to himself but now a crowd of youngsters are floundering around out there, so it's not for "beating the crowd" anymore. Thanks a lot Redbull. Keep on pretending the surf is good and there's plenty for everyone
