Poor horse is right... Yes, horse's are trained just as an athlete is; however, they're not created to give there all without a break. Try running in place with your knees up high and see how long you last, and by the way, have someone hitting you wtih a whip to ensure you keep your knees up high... I train dressage, this is not a happy, willing horse, it's a horse that is clearly stressed and fearful of his owners. He may live a life of luxury, but he doesn't look happy at all.
the horse is not being abused. the whip is used as an extention of your arm and is used to encourage the horse to move. they just tap the horse gently, not hard, like if you took a flimsy stick and tapped your arm repeatedly. It dosnt hurt them. it works like an annoying fly and the horse moves away from it thats all. It helps guide the horse's movements. He is obviously well cared for and doing these movements shows how smart he is and his ability to concentrate on the task at hand.
These horses have been bred for these kinds of movements for hundreds of years. It's not like they hauled a donkey out of the desert and tried doing this.

This is because Latinos treat Andulusians differently. They whipped and spurred to perform. They are very stubborn horses. Latinos see them differently then white americans and I am a white woman. They are fed and cared for very well. They are to earn their oats, same way the latinos do. I been involved on both ends, the american way sucks, the latinos are welcoming to share their horses.
Can you not see that the horse is being whipped with every step? Horses can be taught to perform spectacular movements WITH KINDNESS - but that's not what is happening in this video! Anyone who has any knowledge of equine body language can see that this horse is not performing with pride or beauty or even comfort - he's being hit with a whip and held back with a bridle at the same time. I saw the same treatment in India in person and those horses were freaking out, controlled with fear and pain

This is a natural movement stallions will do when near mares, we have just put a command to it.
If the horse was being hurt do you really think a massive stallion of such calibre would sit there and take it? One swift kick and that guy would be dead, it's ear is forwards and one ear is on the trainer. Learn a thing or two about horse training before commenting as such, an upset horse would have ears flat back and be head tossing or stomping at the trainer as a warning before kicking.

Wow really with the "poor horse"..... This may seem watching it a long time that the horse is performing the exercise but if you look the horse is actually only doing this for maybe 2 min!!!! This horse is in excellent shape and people like this man wouldnt do that exercise for a long period of time if he knew the horse couldnt handle it!! If this horse was not enjoying what he was doing then he would be trying to get away from that man but notice he does what he is told that is how obedient he is. @trivas92 The horse is in perfect shape and looks all and through healthy, but what I reacted to was the task the horse was asked to execute, over such a long amount of time. This IS the most difficoult and heavyest exersize for a horse. And I certainly did NOT like the handler( it looks like he is smacking the horse with the whip more than he is SUPPOSE to gentley dab it gentley on the rear).
I dont understand all of the "poor horse" comments. These animals are domesticated and trained to do this. Much like dogs are now. A few minutes of this is nothing physically compared to what they can really do. I also bet that this horse has a better life than bums on the street or most struggling families.

I was commenting on the horse's beauty, not his dancing. But I've been to Costa Rica and seen this in person. It's pretty exciting, but I feel that how hard these horses work is for the humans, not for themselves. I just don't see how they can keepit up so long without frigging collasping. It's amazing.

all i can say is if this horse was scared or abused i dont think they would touch them.. Ive seen many animals abuse...They fears us or are will attack us... an ive been with horses if they dont want to do somthing i wont they will buck or coward in fear
@patslark How do you know how the horse lives?? I have shown horses for many years, and they don't have to be stabled constantly in order to grow out their manes and tails. They have products to protect their hair while they are out on pasture.

They don't use the whip in a way to harm the animal. it's used as a way to tell the horse what step it should use or when to change steps, i know this because i also have a horse from this breed and have seen many times when they dance. in no way do they use it to harm him.

This horse is in excellent shape and people like this man wouldnt do that exercise for a long period of time if he knew the horse couldnt handle it!! Because obviously you can tell the horse is in great shape! Its like saying poor horse to a show jumper or something!! These horses are trained for it!!!!

If this horse was not enjoying what he was doing then he would be trying to get away from that man but notice he does what he is told that is how obedient he is. So i am pretty sure this horse is being given a command and it is responding by doing it! So stop saying poor horse and all that other crap!!!

@trivas92 The horse is in perfect shape and looks all and through healthy, but what I reacted to was the task the horse was asked to execute, over such a long amount of time. This IS the most difficoult and heavyest exersize for a horse. And I certainly did NOT like the handler( it looks like he is smacking the horse with the whip more than he is SUPPOSE to gentley dab it gentley on the rear).

I dont understand all of the "poor horse" comments. These animals are domesticated and trained to do this. Much like dogs are now. A few minutes of this is nothing physically compared to what they can really do. I also bet that this horse has a better life than bums on the street or most struggling families.

I've seen happy and healty horses, and i think this horse is that not! when you see that hair, you can't say that the horse is allowed to "have fun" on the grass you can't say that is it allowed to be normal.

I was commenting on the horse's beauty, not his dancing. But I've been to Costa Rica and seen this in person. It's pretty exciting, but I feel that how hard these horses work is for the humans, not for themselves. I just don't see how they can keepit up so long without frigging collasping. It's amazing.

@patslark How do you know how the horse lives?? I have shown horses for many years, and they don't have to be stabled constantly in order to grow out their manes and tails. They have products to protect their hair while they are out on pasture.

They don't use the whip in a way to harm the animal. it's used as a way to tell the horse what step it should use or when to change steps, i know this because i also have a horse from this breed and have seen many times when they dance. in no way do they use it to harm him.

Andalusians, especially the stallons, with those long mane and high rising knees create something like; a beautiful mystery dance, idk why but that's how I feel it. Though, this music defenitly doesn't go with that image haha

Beautiful. But I'd hate to be the one who had to braid the mane and tail. I was taking care of a draft horse my last quarter in college and her's was only about half as long as this horse's and it would take me forever...of course she kept moving unless she had hay. Lol.
