I have my reasons to dislike Citroen (in fact the whole PSA). . Heard lots of storyes about failing airbags at a serious -deadly - accident (6!! a.bags failed to open:S), heard storyes about failing engines while taking over a truck on open road, and got hit by another truck in the front (2 dead people again) .. theese accidents happened only because of complicated electronics...
Now, Citroen C4 has got a new 1.6Vti engine, same as you get in BMW Mini and it's a masterpiece, best 1.6 engine on market.
I also have one friend who work as a mechanic in Kia/Hyundai Garage and he recommended me to stay aways from those and another friend's father actually owns a big service for luxury cars, so I know something too.
Also, tell me about the problems with C4 1.4 16v in your family, coz I heard that engine is old, simple and there's just nothing to go wrong with it.
where the fuck are you reading all this from???? Opel was always good in aerodymaics and safety... the Astra F had seatbelt tensioners in 89-91 ... and steel poles integrated in all doors, to protect the passangers at a side impact.. plus: the Opel vectra B had a better crash result, then the actual BMW 3 back then... think before u talk pls :)

They killed its character as well. Opels are nothing more than cars. They're dull and uninspiring. Worst of all, there's no sense of personality, there's no sense of character. They leave you cold, you end up with nothing
No sense of character????? Sorry to tell ya, but old opels (from '85) looked way better (and even ran better than their VW rivals.. The GSi Kadett eat Golf 2 GTi-s for dinner, and the Astra F GSi eat Golf 3 GTi-s (not even mentioned the Astra t 200, with factory 204 Hp c20let engines)... this tradition is up till nowadays, when the current Astra OPC eats the current Golf 6 Gti, and has eaten the Golf 5 GTi as well :)

It's really terrible how GM treats its own but foreign company. Opel has never paid taxes in Germany, because they always moves their profit to USA, to GMs' hq.
And now when Opel has problems because of financial crisis, GM sents Opel to hell. That's very nice "thank you" from them, yeah.
I hope that Opel will be bought by someone reasonable or nationalized by German company and then I'm sure, they would start making perfect cars. But currently, GM kills all their effort. I
It hasn't fully acquired VW yet. And I'm afraid that now when Lamborghini and Audi started to make much better supercars than Porsche itself, Porsche is going to cut their budged so that they'll stay on the top.
C5 has never been better then the insignia.. besides.. wich one of them won the car of the year prize? :) Guess Im right again :) (oh, btw, dont even mention the worst french brand (psa), while even renaults (the so cald best fr brand) are pieces of unreliable craps..) <--and even difficult to get it fixed :SSS

nope.. Im just answeing to them randomly :D 1. Hdi is one of the most unreliable diesels in its class, 2: the hydro system is one "block" with the brakeing system and the powersteering system.. If you ever worked on for example a xantia, you know how it sucks, when the full combined system looses all of the hydraulic oil :D Thats Citroen :D always make things complicated :) (oh.. btw: I happen to be a car mechanic (and technitian), so im not as uncompetent in this car theme as you think :)
I own a C4, ok? Brilliant car, never had any problem with it.
As for hydropneumatic suspension, all it requires is some maintenance and when it gets it, it shouldn't give you any trouble. It's the same story with Hdi engines, they're complicated but if something goes wrong, it's usually just a sensor.
People who tried hydropneumatic suspension, don't ever want to come back.
My pals family also has a C4 1.4 16V.. they travelled 5000!!!!!!km-s under 3 yrs, and they had already a lot of problems.. Citroens are very sexy-lookin, comfortable cars.. but MOST of them has problems sooner or later.. just to cheer ya up, I think the same thing about the Pug 307 as well.. cuz of the same platform+ nearly same electronic, it almost has the same problems as the C4! :)
I would give all stars because it was so strong in this test ...its my opinion. And opel did a good job with this car ... I would like to have it :P

Yes, 307 was an unreliable car but 308 is good and the facelifted version of C4 uses some new parts from 308.
Airbags are made by only a couple of companies for the whole car industry.
I also heard about engines disabling when pushed but petrol engines don't do it, only Hdi.
And yes, the quaility of PSA concerned slipped a lot after 2000 but don't forget that in Africa, Peugeots have a good reputation for being tough.
