hello , are you sure this is the grateful dead ? they sound really crummy ? i was at haight ashbury in the 60's and remember they had a lot of energy and really cooked when they were stoked on lsd and pounding out an acid-rock tune ? this cut is positively boring ? maybe the dead had body doubles and thats the doubles in this cut ? ever think of that ?

What I think makes this video even cooler is that this song was relatively new on 8/30/70 - it was only about 4-5 months old, you figure most of the people there haven't heard this song yet. Imagine hearing this song (and it's a fantastic version, btw) for the first time up close like this. Must have been the coolest thing in the world.

I think that Jerry Garcia was killed and replaced in the summer of 1971 by the US government. My basic idea behind this is that the band dosed a cop or something really illegal and got caught so either the band would go to jail for life or Jerry could give himself up and allow the impostor. There's a longer theory that I can't explain here. Some lyrical proof: "I'm Uncle Sam that's who I am been hiding out in a rockn'roll band." "I would slave to learn the way to sink your ship of fools." hmmmmm
