To me, Devo did the right choice. Besides "Watch Us Work It" which is pretty cool (and "Cameo" which is terribly annoying) the other tracks pretty much sucked. "Let's Get To It" is OK but has the melody lifted from "Turn Around", "Knock Boots" is lifeless and "Signal Ready" is just a bad song. On the other hand "March On" while not spectacular is better and I really, really like "No Place Like Home", one of my favourites on the album. No complaining about the other tracks: Devo did a great job
@weaseldragon Because it WAS real. While the "focus group" jargon was just parody, Devo held an online survey to determine the track listing for the new album.
I am a spudghetti fan from Italy and find it extremely difficult to get this new album ... No chance to order my copy online 'cos it seems they're unable to ship deliveries in my country.... couldn't either download from itunes due to credit card problems ....
Do you spuds know if this album will be available on record shops too ?
I read online somewhere of a rumor that around July 20th there will be available a 2 disk version of the new album. Has anyone else heard of this? No other information was given than that.
Read this. DELUXE Version Of ''Something FOr Everybody'' There are 16 tracks on the Deluxe version of this CD. ANd they are: 1."Fresh" 2."What We Do" 3."Please Baby Please" 4."Don't Shoot (I'm a Man)" 5."Mind Games" 6."Human Rocket" 7."Sumthin'" 8."Step Up" 9."Cameo" 10."Later Is Now" 11."No Place Like Home" 12."March On" 13."Watch Us Work It" 14."Signal Ready" 15."Let's Get To It" 16."Knock Boots"[23]
If you go to the website Colbertnation you can hear the entire album.Be warned though; Watch Us Work It, Signal Ready, Let's Get To It, & Knockin' Da Boots are not included. Except for Knockin', bad move.Don't Shoot, due to what sounds like a some remixing, is the best in my opinion. Marching On is pretty good when you listen to it in it's entirity. No Place Like Home, Devo's attempt at a ballad, is the worst by far. They should have listened to the fans & gone with the survey results.
@Kolchaksentry No Place Like Home was actually my favorite - and while I can't account for the change/switch from what was voted for, I AM happy that song will be available. I even pleaded on their site for them to make that song available somewhere. I wonder if the tracklist switch was Devo's call or the label's? Devo (in the video above) seem to be more than willing to go along with the song choice as picked by the fans...
@PlaceSoFarAway I think either the record label or the marketing company made the recommendation to issue a deluxe edition of the album with all 16 songs on it. I've been reading various articles and reviews and this seems to be the path they've indicated they're taking. The reviews so far have been very positive. I wonder how the album is doing on the charts. My favorite is Watch Us Work It because of the guitar riff.
@MegaJetJaguar Theres a Delux version of ''something for everybody'' and I think all the eliminated tracks are on there. Go to Wikipedia and type in Devo and its all there :)
What i don't understand is why the HELL would they omit Watch Us Work It? its classic Devo AND it had the highest vote count. That just doesn't make much sense..
@CodyT3212 "Watch Us Work It" was used on Yo Gabba Gabba - Season 3 - Superhero episode, that could have a little to do with it. Check out that video if you are able, it's amazing.
Every song made could fit on the cd. I don't understand why any songs had to be left off. People like some of the songs left off. People don't like some of the songs left on. To make everybody happy every song should have stayed on.
I smiled all the way through this! This is exactly what I expected and you guys didn't let me down! Looking foreward to the CD! I was hoping that the suits would have asked the photographer who he works for, and his reply would have been: "you guys" Suits nod ...oh yeah.... :)
PLEASE READ The songs listed in this video are not the final tracklisting of "Something For Everybody". Here is the actual tracklisting: 1. Fresh 2. What We Do 3. Please Baby Please 4. Don't Shoot (I'm a Man) 5. Mind Games 6. Human Rocket 7. Sumthin' 8. Step Up 9. Cameo 10. Later Is Now 11. No Place Like Home 12. March On
@LonelyAtTheTop79@LonelyAtTheTop79 Maybe there's just been a mis-communication. They'll get it sorted out. (But hopefully not. I want No Place Like Home on the record. Who knows what will happen to the tracks that didn't make the cut?)
The actual tracklisting has Cameo on it, as well as March On and No Place Like Home. The actual 4 songs that were left off are Knock Boots, Let's Get To It, Signal Ready, and Watch Us Work It
I listen to complete albums too, so this is gonna suck :(
@tranxcend Club Devo website. The album is avaliable for preorder. The tracklisting is included in the description. It's only '88% Focus Group Approved'.
But the final tracklisting is different from this! Cameo, No Place Like Home and March On are on it! Watch Us Work It, Let's Get To It and Signal Ready got kicked off!
Is that Sir Richard Branson with the girl on his lap?
PS. The songs that didn't make it were pretty terrible (my bottom four, as a matter of fact), but I'd still like to hear them as bonus tracks, someday.
I can't friggin believe this album isn't huge! I love every song!

@ghellogm And "Step Up" is a great song as is "Human Rocket" and "Don't Shoot...." All three are better than "Fresh," which is not bad.

@ghellogm Yeah, I definitely would've traded "Watch Us Work It" with "Cameo". Otherwise, great album.

"No Place Like Home"
The most poignant song ever recorded by DEVO and quite timely !
I am experiencing a increased synchronicity in my life,I am crediting the return of DEVO as the primary factor in this pleasant experience !
