Everyone gasps in awe when she takes off her stole because she legendarily looked nude with diamonds all over her body in that dress under the lights. Must have been something to see, that's for sure. That famous dress, which she had to be sewn into, by the way, brought the most money ever at auction for a garment. I believe it went for over 1/2 million! An incredible moment in history and pop culture. iconic.

Marilyn was the PLANNED finale to this event. Her legendary lateness was turned into a joke, and that is why Lawford finally introduces her as "the late Marilyn Monroe." She was always supposed to come on last, sing "Happy Birthday." She was nervous waiting backstage, but--who wouldn't be? NIce to see the entire clip, second chorus.

kennedy was murdered unjustly as was marilyn I think they were and I dont want anyone to bash me because I know for saying this, but made for each for each other, in a very twisted way. Dont get me wrong I admire both!! They are great but they had their dark side too, in the end they were made martyrs. Jack was no saint netiher was marilyn -she was a victim as jackie, but in the end jack had his positive things too, I mean if we want a better human perfect there is no such thing.

Yeah, but JFK (while having a less than perfect marital life) was a good man whose greatest achievement was saving the world from nuclear war (CMC). He also tried to put us back on the silver standard to control military spending and tried to pull us out of vietnam, he was capped in his crown before he could achieve either. Marilyn certainly didn't deserve to die, but what is her contribution to the world, other than being the president's secret slice of cake?

Don't be a fool. JFK and RFK were among the greatest civil servants (not to mention the most inspiring) of the 20th century. They did not kill talented Miss Monroe. JFK, one of the greatest US Presidents and RFK, one of the greatest US senators we've ever had.
