yeah we used to trash the marines all the time, but I don't think the guys meant anything by it. I'm sure the marines had a few Army jokes flying around too. It's all in fun.
If anyone wants to enlist into the USMC, read through the Future Jarheads website. It is a website that is made by a Marine for future Marines and it is well worth the read. You can Google it or find the link on my profile page. OOH RAH!!
No active duty servicemember who takes themselves seriously actually bashes other branches of military service and means it. We all screw with each other and bust balls, but if you legitimately think other branches "suck" then you'd better secure that trash and figure out the big picture of why we all do what we do and what niche/role we all fill.
*sigh* I had enough of this "Marines vs everyone else" arguing years ago. I'm curious as to how many of you posting about how great the Marines are have actually been in the Corps. Believe me, the Marine Corps has its own flaws. I know Marines who respect other servicemen, some even say if they had a chance to do it all again, they would've gone Army. The simple fact is we're supposed to be part of one team: the US team. Army, Marines, Peace Corps, we should all respect each other's sacrifices.
@UBCS12347 Well said. I stopped arguing with keyboard commandos as to which branch of service is 'better.' Different missions, different capabilites, different training, but at the end it's all the same American blood.
a big part of marines training is talking shit. thats all they do is talk shit. when they leave the marines and join another branch, they continue to talk shit about the "Core", scumbags is what you guys are, army is much better
@77danigga Yup, that's why the Army is easier, more laid back, and admittedly so. cuz theyre just so much more hardcore..no..If u had a pair you would have joined the Marines..The only people who think the army is better than the Marines are in the Army, my uncle in the Army NG told me Marines are by far the best, my uncle in the DIA told me Marines are by far the best. History told me Marines are by far the best.
@TheRockof90s The marines are great, dont get me wrong. However, i like my brain un washed if you know what I mean. Also, the marines have the best fit and best looking women, I must admit that.
@TheRockof90s everyones got opinions. Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong. We got along with you guys fine in Ramadi...Either way, me and my army buddies look good, feel good, and look forward to the 1st and 15th of every month. We don't take this as serious as you guys do. We dont have any stickers on our cars or cadence cd's in our players. In other words, we are not typical GI's, however, you guys are, and thats sad. Thats the point. Run your 3 miles, We prefer 2.
@77danigga haha. alot of hardworking motivated army guys would give u shit for pretty much proving the Marine Corp's opinion on the difference between the two brances. Being a Marine is alot more than being a warrior it lasts a lifetime but from what you just said I see its not for you, and i dont mean anything by that btw. Army serves just like Marines do
@TheRockof90s i take back the scumbag remark....yeah some would give me shit, some would agree. Its not for everyone. Everyone has a role in the military...Its like the seals, I know thats not for everyone.
@Str8Trapstar90 By talking shit, forming cliques, and understading the psychology of the military. Its easy. Plus we, the smart one,s, dont take this stuff seriously like you probably do.
woah no way theres such thing as a tall DI. All the ones that have instructed me were under 4'4'' but could put my ass down faster than a charging bull
@vinceperez158 hell yea...can u sprint??? do that for 5 miles they jogging cuz they got boots but shit when i was on the depot dang they ran like it was the marathon...
@vinceperez158 if u can still run good like i have buddies who smoke and can run forever it depends but yea u gotta be in shape man cuz ur gonna lead marines and u gotta lead by example...;)
@sup3rd I saw them Working out when I was in boot last year in December, they do kettlebell workouts and lots of running, core exercises my kill hat said "theres NO FUCKIN WAY 10 DI students ARE LOUDER THAN 64 RECRUITS!!! OPEN YOUR FUCKING MOUTHS RIGHT NOW!!!" "AYE AYE SIR!!!!" LMAO
DI's r fucking pricks. I still hate mine. Even they didn't really mess with me like they did with others. Fuck those motherfuckers. Doesn't matter how good u r u still not good enough. U suppose to be a complete duchebag to become a DI. So u can haze the shit out of young punks. And most of that guys r fucking pogues. Fucking airwingers, admins, cooks, supplies, motor t, bulk fuel, shit like that.
@coivictor C'mon, bro, anyone who has experienced any type of military training knows you're not supposed to like your drill instructor. How can you learn how to kill and survive if you're friends with the D.I.?
@pjharrison78 idk dude, i don't feel like they taught me how to kill and survive (it's a job of different kinds of combat instructors, which have nothing to do with di's), what they taught is an immediate obedience to all orders and teamwork. But i was mentally ready to follow all orders even before bootcamp, so i didn' t really need all this shit. Actually thats why they didn't mess with me personally, but with us as a platoon - ooh shit)
@coivictor True, but like a lot of other guys I was also conditioned to respect authority figures when I went to bootcamp, unfortunately, there were always the fuckups. Thankfully I never saw combat much less with those dudes. As far as the drill sergeants are concerned, they're like, "if you think I'm an asshole, how are you going to feel about the other guy who is actually trying to kill you?" That's at least the way I interpreted their logic.
@coivictor HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Mine were cool. We had a grunt as our kill hat. Dude was bad ass and even he said most of them are fuckin pogs. Combat intructors used to talk shit about Di's all the time at SOI
@sup3rd Oh, yeah? Yours were cool? You talking bout ur drill buddies at the buddycamp? I bet ur added them as friends at Facebook, didn't ya? They not suppose to be cool with you, if they were it means something wrong. R u east coast or west coast?
@coivictor Yeah they're buddies on my facebook and myspace page. They sometimes invite me over to their place to eat with their family and let me screw their daughters. They let me use their cell phones in boot and we played PS3 together in the duty hut while everyone was field daying. I was west coast
@sup3rd 4th Batt? Females are the ones in 4th Batt.. I would know... I'm one & I know alot of the "Hollywood Marines" that said that female DIs are ALOT more intimidating which is def understandable
The Marine Corps is Darwinism in action... They have the most exemplary Marines teaching the future of the Marine Corps... The Marine corps is in good hands, hoorah!
I wonder what it takes to become a drill instructor for drill instructor school. Maybe they have to go to drill instructor, instructor school. But then there's the question of who instructs them. Its a never ending cycle. haha. Im totally kidding. Please no one take this seriously. ha
@FA18acm lol.... One of my instructors at MCJROTC was a drill instructor for drill instructors... he says you get hand picked out of all the DI's for recruits. So in other words you gotta be the best of the best to become one of them.... BTW both of my instructors were DI's in the Marine Corps
Yeah. I'm in the AF trying to transfer over to the Army. Every time we run in a formation, a car or truck follows us. What is the point, why do they do that?
One of my SOI instructors (he was also one of the squad leaders in the infantry company I went to) died in DI school. Had a heart attack on the graduation moto run.
Hey guys, I left a comment on here about a year ago, its like the first comment. I've made my decision and thought i'd thank you guys cause the ones who actually responded helped my make this decision. Im enlisting, just got to go through another year then i join with two of my friends. Thanks for the info and help guys.
Im having trouble making that decision too...I got accepted into a military college, and they have a great Marine ROTC program, but I still have this feeling thats calling me to be enlisted.
I honestly dont know what to do. an officer told me I can be an enlisted Marine like my dad or I can Lead Marines. My parents just want me to finish college before anything though.
Hey just so ya know ya can also lead Marines being enlisted i know ive done it. But too dont short hand yaself if ya wanna make that money officer route the way to go but dont be one of the arrogant officers that dont think he should listen to the advice of his enlisted cuz thatll make you better leader and the men will trust you more
I could care less about the money, I just want the title. but yea, most people were telling me that as an officer, just listen to your NCOs b/c they are the backbone of the Marine Corps.
I wanted that hard-charging, motivating feel of being an enlisted grunt, but i suppose you can get that too just by simply having what it takes to be a Marine- either officer, or enlisted.
I totally agree with what you said about money. I always tell people who bring up money when they criticize me for wanting to join, "if i wanted to make money, why would i join the military.", i wouldn't, i want the title or Marine, not money.
@MickyChicky33 You just really pissed me off because of that last word in your comment Marine are Oraah The Fat Lard army is Hooah and the navy is Hooyah. You did not get close to any one of them
From my understanding is that enlisted personnel with college degrees are able to go through the Enlisted Commission Program as long as they've been one year in and minimum of a year left on their enlisted contract. Maybe I should go ask the on base career planner and get back on this
sssaarcasmmmm.... if you go into a recruiting office and ask about getting a degree, the recruiter will tell you "oh yea i got one inmy first enlistment..." IDIOT
They'll "politely" tell you to take your ass to the army recruiter... maybe they'll shine your shoes and cute you a check while giving you a a massage. :P
@DEOutlaw12 sssaarcasmmmm.... if you go into a recruiting office and ask about getting a degree, the recruiter will tell you "oh yea i got one inmy first enlistment..." IDIOT
hey guys, dropping in again. I commented this a while ago, when i was a sophomore. Well, junior year just ended so im technically a senior. I'm pretty damned sure that im enlisting after my next school year. Thanks for the advice on my first comments.
lol there are a good portion of filipino's in the USMC including me and like some of the guys in here said, theres no red, yellow, black, or white in the Corps. Were all green! And thats where our famous motto "Semper Fidelis" comes from. ALWAYS FAITHFUL!!!
Hey, good on you for doing that. did you know that if you only spend 4 years as active, you'll only have 3 years of inactive because technically you are serving the Marines inactively? I just found that out, and I signed up for 5 years active, which means the government only has two years after my active service to get me back in. I'm not exactly a hard charger so I'm only gonna be in for 5 years.
Hmmm. that's weird. Last I checked, you have to do a total of 8. I did 5 active and 3 inactive. My other brothers that did 4 active, did 4 inactive... you might wanna check on that...
That's got to be the toughest job in the corps, and perhaps in our entire military- to be a D.I.- You are the one who is responsible for turning civilian shit into United States Marines. Brutal.
well, my Army Drill Sgt went on to be a Drill Sgt at the DS school on same post. Another drill Sgt told us he went there because dogging E-5s was more fun, but he would return one day to "visit" us. Lol a few of the guys din't sleep for a week after that comment. That man was a beast. I think his mother fed him gunpowder or some shit
Who gives a rats ass about your shitass army d.s. And I cant believe you would post some shit like that on a Marine video. Undisciplined disgusting pieces of army shit! Semper Fi till I die!
@erterrill Yeah you sure to express some great discipline yourself there. lol wow you have no room to talk, you disrespectful piece of shit. We're all Americans.....except with comments like that you're pretty UNAmerican.
RETARDS.. your AFQT (score on asvab) doesnt meen SHIT, all its meens is that you passed....what qualiies you for jobs is the line scores GT EL CL and MM
actually you can but only if you have your parent or guardians permission because i enlisted when i was 17 and would've gone to boot but i still haven't finished high school
not in the marine corps the marines dont have a delayed entry program teh army does. The only thing they have is reservist who are infantry can go to SOI in the summer instead of after the 10 day boot leave
what are you talking about? every branch of service has the delayed entry program(not sure about coast guard or air force) because well for one I am enlisted in the Marines and in the Delayed Entry Program! It even says it on my welcome aboard package...
What are YOU talking about? Your not even a boot yet Ive been the marines for 5 years unless they change it which i dont think they have then you cant go to bootcamp until u have a highschool degree or ged. Yea your in teh delayed entry program but the army lets you go through army basic the summer between your juniro and senior year. Your just a poolee to recruiters when your in teh delayed entry program. going to gay poolee functions and shit. Your not even a recruit yet
dude you may be right on what you're talking about but thats not what the guy said! You CAN go to boot camp when you're 17 ONLY if you have parental consent and have a high school diploma but NOT a GED....now do you understand that?
we had a kid in my HS that went reserve and did Boot btwn jr and sr year but that was back in 1980, i just went in 1980 at 17 no HD diploma, no ged not only did my folks sign the papers but my dad even offered to drive me to Boot Camp. my first CO in the Fleet made me finish school thru a program they had set up.
the Corps does have a DEP, and yes you can go at 17 even without parental consent if you have documented emancipation or if the Judge in a criminal court agrees to a plea bargain arrangment for someone facing charges that pleads guilty before a trial and accepts a tour in the Marine Corps in place of a jail sentence.
You can enlist into the USMC at 17 with parents permission only if you are a senior. You CAN go to boot camp at 17 if you have either graduated or received your GED or equivalent. Only the NG has the program where you attend basic in between your junior and senior years. The USMC does not have this program. At 17 you can be deployed just like everyone else.
It's not easy. They have to have a GED slot for you. If they don't then your screwed. And if they do have one you have to score higher on your ASVAB then a HS diploma holder. And this summer the USMC will tighten the screws on who they let in to slow down their recruitment. So many who wish to be Marines will never get in or it will be harder.
errrrrrr......

then go with the feeling man ive had my feeling for 2 years now... I am enlisting off to P.I.
jjjtttdylan 2 years ago
Yeah. I'm in the AF trying to transfer over to the Army. Every time we run in a formation, a car or truck follows us. What is the point, why do they do that?
boxingbro 2 years ago
So that if someone were to fall out they can quickly be put into a vehicle and taken the BHC.
mgkusmc 2 years ago
u must not really be in the military or else you would know, the corpsman or the medic follows behind incase any complications occur. fake

Thanks for the info and help guys.
thegreenishcrab 2 years ago
Im having trouble making that decision too...I got accepted into a military college, and they have a great Marine ROTC program, but I still have this feeling thats calling me to be enlisted.
I honestly dont know what to do. an officer told me I can be an enlisted Marine like my dad or I can Lead Marines. My parents just want me to finish college before anything though.
D0MINICAN01992 2 years ago
Hey just so ya know ya can also lead Marines being enlisted i know ive done it. But too dont short hand yaself if ya wanna make that money officer route the way to go but dont be one of the arrogant officers that dont think he should listen to the advice of his enlisted cuz thatll make you better leader and the men will trust you more
Priest300 2 years ago
I could care less about the money, I just want the title. but yea, most people were telling me that as an officer, just listen to your NCOs b/c they are the backbone of the Marine Corps.
I wanted that hard-charging, motivating feel of being an enlisted grunt, but i suppose you can get that too just by simply having what it takes to be a Marine- either officer, or enlisted.
D0MINICAN01992 2 years ago
I totally agree with what you said about money. I always tell people who bring up money when they criticize me for wanting to join, "if i wanted to make money, why would i join the military.", i wouldn't, i want the title or Marine, not money.
thegreenishcrab 2 years ago
Do you think you have what it takes to lead people? It can be pretty hard, especially when you're scared out of your wits yourself.
MickyChicky33 2 years ago 16
You have a great point MickyChicky!

@MickyChicky33 You just really pissed me off because of that last word in your comment Marine are Oraah The Fat Lard army is Hooah and the navy is Hooyah. You did not get close to any one of them

@D0MINICAN01992 If you finish college before you decide, you don't have a choice; They will automatically enroll you in ocs.
dupreemarc 2 years ago
not true, I've met people in recruit training with 4 year college degrees
sup3rd 2 years ago
Even so they get put on the board for candidates afterwards; People often go through that delayed entry program.
dupreemarc 2 years ago
From my understanding is that enlisted personnel with college degrees are able to go through the Enlisted Commission Program as long as they've been one year in and minimum of a year left on their enlisted contract. Maybe I should go ask the on base career planner and get back on this
sup3rd 2 years ago
And the lead series chief drill instructor also had a masters degree during boot and my recruiters had college degrees also
sup3rd 2 years ago
haha all recruiters have college degrees...
quincy3521 2 years ago
No not all. Just some.

in boot camp every recruit is equally worthless no matter what race he may be
persistenza18 2 years ago 5
Once you join the corps your fellow Marines will not see your race you will be green, just like them and you will be their brother.
DevilDoc504 2 years ago 5
lol there are a good portion of filipino's in the USMC including me and like some of the guys in here said, theres no red, yellow, black, or white in the Corps. Were all green! And thats where our famous motto "Semper Fidelis" comes from. ALWAYS FAITHFUL!!!
insaneology420 2 years ago 5
yep green and dark green until the drill instructor tells the black recruits to put some stay-black on right devil haha. thats lotion for all u civis
marinecorpsdevildogs 2 years ago
Just enlisted in Delayed Entry.
ShapeshifterMusic 2 years ago 5
Hey, good on you for doing that. did you know that if you only spend 4 years as active, you'll only have 3 years of inactive because technically you are serving the Marines inactively? I just found that out, and I signed up for 5 years active, which means the government only has two years after my active service to get me back in. I'm not exactly a hard charger so I'm only gonna be in for 5 years.
Oorah!
HxBxGxCx 2 years ago
Yep, that's awesome. Can't wait til i go though.
ShapeshifterMusic 2 years ago
Hmmm. that's weird. Last I checked, you have to do a total of 8. I did 5 active and 3 inactive. My other brothers that did 4 active, did 4 inactive... you might wanna check on that...

It is the same length of time as regular boot camp, but is really hard.
deathpatch 2 years ago
That's got to be the toughest job in the corps, and perhaps in our entire military- to be a D.I.- You are the one who is responsible for turning civilian shit into United States Marines. Brutal.
rayjr62 2 years ago
well, my Army Drill Sgt went on to be a Drill Sgt at the DS school on same post. Another drill Sgt told us he went there because dogging E-5s was more fun, but he would return one day to "visit" us. Lol a few of the guys din't sleep for a week after that comment. That man was a beast. I think his mother fed him gunpowder or some shit

you can enlist into the delayed entry program when your 17 but you cant go to basic until you have your degree...
Nalnok 3 years ago
unless you grad hs at 17, then you can go at 17 with parental consent..
gacohron24 3 years ago
you cant go into basic when your 17... unless you went in the army lol..
Nalnok 3 years ago
actually you can but only if you have your parent or guardians permission because i enlisted when i was 17 and would've gone to boot but i still haven't finished high school
Sirmovesalot17 3 years ago
not in the marine corps the marines dont have a delayed entry program teh army does. The only thing they have is reservist who are infantry can go to SOI in the summer instead of after the 10 day boot leave
AMReyRey 3 years ago
what are you talking about? every branch of service has the delayed entry program(not sure about coast guard or air force) because well for one I am enlisted in the Marines and in the Delayed Entry Program! It even says it on my welcome aboard package...
Sirmovesalot17 3 years ago
What are YOU talking about? Your not even a boot yet Ive been the marines for 5 years unless they change it which i dont think they have then you cant go to bootcamp until u have a highschool degree or ged. Yea your in teh delayed entry program but the army lets you go through army basic the summer between your juniro and senior year. Your just a poolee to recruiters when your in teh delayed entry program. going to gay poolee functions and shit. Your not even a recruit yet
AMReyRey 3 years ago
dude you may be right on what you're talking about but thats not what the guy said! You CAN go to boot camp when you're 17 ONLY if you have parental consent and have a high school diploma but NOT a GED....now do you understand that?
Sirmovesalot17 3 years ago
I have been in for 6 years, and I came in through the DEP
gacohron24 3 years ago
we had a kid in my HS that went reserve and did Boot btwn jr and sr year but that was back in 1980, i just went in 1980 at 17 no HD diploma, no ged not only did my folks sign the papers but my dad even offered to drive me to Boot Camp. my first CO in the Fleet made me finish school thru a program they had set up.
TheygotSkylar 3 years ago
the Corps does have a DEP, and yes you can go at 17 even without parental consent if you have documented emancipation or if the Judge in a criminal court agrees to a plea bargain arrangment for someone facing charges that pleads guilty before a trial and accepts a tour in the Marine Corps in place of a jail sentence.
TheygotSkylar 3 years ago
Yes they do have a dep.
italainmobster6 3 years ago
lol im in the Marine DEP right now.
mmafan1775 3 years ago
You can enlist into the USMC at 17 with parents permission only if you are a senior. You CAN go to boot camp at 17 if you have either graduated or received your GED or equivalent. Only the NG has the program where you attend basic in between your junior and senior years. The USMC does not have this program. At 17 you can be deployed just like everyone else.
lavadog 3 years ago
What are the chances you can get in with a GED?
Thanks
nardcore7805 3 years ago
It's not easy. They have to have a GED slot for you. If they don't then your screwed. And if they do have one you have to score higher on your ASVAB then a HS diploma holder. And this summer the USMC will tighten the screws on who they let in to slow down their recruitment. So many who wish to be Marines will never get in or it will be harder.
