Well, have you seen a solar panel? It produces free energy from the Sun light that falls to Earth everyday. The Sun light is free energy that you can either use or ignore. The solar panel is not free however. It is cheap to make these days so maybe we should start talking about cheap energy produced by miles of thin film coated with metal oxides and baked to make a cheap photovoltaic cell. If it involves sunlight it is a solar generator. It is merely converting the energy from the sun into heat. Also, any closed-system will decay due to entropy. That is no self-perpetuating-system (if it could exist) would have to fail eventually due to the laws of physics.
hey you fucking cock faces clown monkey I got something that you can put in that loud ass mouth of yours i think that everyone here would agree that being in the fucking desert has fried your damn brain i know your mom taught you that if you have nothing nice to say then to keep your cock holster shut
Any electrical engineering department can build a successful magnetic Wankel engine, since its principles are already in electrical engineering. The motor simply eliminates its back mmf, so that it continuously accelerates and can power a load with only some switching and control input. It is also easily close-looped, to make it totally self-powering.
ATTENTION POWER GENERATION INDUSTRY: The Bohren Experiment produces 18 times more energy than is input (in the accounted Poynting flow), any time or place it is performed—it can readily be developed to produce excess clean heat for power generation.
The Kawai overunity magnetic motor can be built exactly from the Patents using high-speed switching. Teruo Kawai held nothing back in the Patents. Motor will also self-power (close-loop).
look out! because due to your great hatred you'll end in mental hospital. if you're getting sick and tired it is good news for researches. One abuser will be removed off the air :)
The core argument of the author is correct. There is no "free energy". My point all along is that the argument can be made without resorting to profanity. Children watch this stuff.
Before he was shut down, Tesla was onto some very interesting things. Not free energy, but some very interesting alternatives. Just because its a little off the wall, dont mean it cant work. All possibilities need to be explored. Let the dreamers continue to dream. They are our hope for the future.
another pearl of wisdom and whit from the master of Nihilism ... I see you are back from self deprecation and returning to self aggrandizement ... predictable ...
"Tesla was onto some very interesting things. Not free energy, but some very interesting alternatives"
Gee, and look what's come of that in the many years since his death.
Not a flipping (see, no profanity) thing.
Either that's the result of a global conspiracy involving every single scientist and engineer involved in power generation... or else there is no magical free energy device lurking in the shadows waiting to save all mankind.
Let me expand upon this a bit more. Look, I'm all about exploring the possibilities, I'm quite fond of unconventional answers. But look at how many people are pursuing crackpot science on youtube? You have to know that at least a majority of the stuff they're doing is nonsense. This is wasted energy, wasted time. They're not helping anyone, they're just wasting time indulging their personal fantasies. And they're working hard to convince everyone else that they're geniuses.
dont know much about global conspiracies, not my bag. dont think Tesla ever said anything about "free energy" though he did claim to have discovered a method making and transmitting electricity that would be so cheap, it would be not be practical to try to meter it. Much of his work was indeed suppressed but by Westinghouse, not any global conspiracy. But Tesla is the one who brought you the AC current delivered to your home.
The whole wireless electricity thing, neat as it was, was inefficient. Plus, with all the concern today about the possible health effects of the EMF coming off of high tension power lines and the RF from cell phones, well.. just imagine the potential problems from RF broadcast electricity powerful enough to run an entire city.
you are probably 100% correct ... but I would still like to know how he did it and replicate the effect if I can figure it out ... I can transmit fairly high wattages using line of site microwaves now ... but he was doing something I do not yet understand ... and that is enough to warrant investigation ...
"but I would still like to know how he did it and replicate the effect if I can figure it out"
Using Tesla coils. Like the standard geek party trick of illuminating a florescent tube with one.
wikipedia has a little detail on how Tesla apparently thought a network of thirty large Tesla coil antennas could power the entire world, it probably doesn't have enough info for your liking but the citations could give you more to go on.
"Gee, and look what's come of that in the many years since his death."
Of course Tesla never came up with anything superior to what is already on the market these days. The "free energy" nuts seem to believe Tesla was some kind of god-like technical genius who surpassed AND STILL SURPASSES the entire world's electrical engineers.
I think Tesla is a fascinating historical figure, but you have to take tales about him with a strong air of skepticism. He was a genius, but one of those eccentric geniuses that wasn't always reliable.
Still.. reading the wikipedia entry on him is interesting. He was all over the map, he invented a bladeless turbine among other things.
Tesla demontrated radio control before Marconi demonstrated radio amoung other interesting things. Tesla turbine is simple to build as a demonstration but I have yet to find a practical use (no torque, high revs). Yes, was all over the map but was certainly not god like. Flawed like most of us. But so much of what he was working on 100 years ago never got proper follow up that it leaves many questions unanswered. Perhaps he did stumble onto some ideas that might be usefull today.
Agreed, many would elevate Tesla into some sort of sci-fi cult hero. He was just a guy with some very unusual hobbies, many of which were developed into practical products that we still use today.
It is fact that only a small piece of the work he did is available for examination. So its pretty hard to tell if any other things he came up with might also have been practical.
The "free energy nuts" that you mock could potentially stumble onto something interesting also. Leave them alone.
"The 'free energy nuts' that you mock could potentially stumble onto something interesting also. Leave them alone."
Ah, no. If your daughter or son insisted 4+4=2 would you "leave her or him alone?" What if everyone in your neighborhood believed 4+4=2? Would you just remain silent?
If it were my son or daughter, it would indeed be my business. But from my point of view, the issues you mock people over are not as simple "black or white" as your 4+4=2 example. You mock a multitude of grey shades. If you were to mock the exaggerated claims of an individual, that would be fair game. But your sweeping mockery of every field of study you happen to deem unworthy tosses the baby out with the bath water. But then, the tactic does increase your ratings, dont it?
"the issues you mock people over are not as simple "black or white" as your 4+4=2 example."
Yes, it is. There is no such thing as "free energy;" there are no such things as miracles. Saying one has discovered "over unity" is exactly as saying 2+2=20.
"The "free energy nuts" that you mock could potentially stumble onto something interesting also. Leave them alone."
Here is the distinction I make. Some guy (or girl) messing around in his basement is free to do whatever he wants. Maybe his work has the potential to be revolutionary.
But there are both naive and ignorant people who make unwarranted leaps, and con artists, both of them need to be put in their place.
Whether it's a basement tinkerer who falsely thinks that he has invented a free energy device or a con artist who thinks that he can get other people to pay for his parlor trick by claiming that it's a free energy device, these people need to be opposed.
That is the way of REAL science. In science, your peers are your harshest critic. If you cannot stand up to their critique then your work doesn't pass muster. This is the way it must be.
"I have not encountered any inventor who purposely made exaggerated claims or set out to con anyone."
In the world of youtube, I have.
This is the thing. I don't start out saying "oh you stupid Effing idiot, go back to sweeping up the lab after the big boys do their work, it's all you're good for". I started out trying to correct people. I point out the mistakes being made in the videos.
NOT ONCE have I ever encountered a poster who said "oops, I see where I went wrong". They ALWAYS fight back with smug self assuredness. Instead of dealing with the science, they leap onto the conspiracy freight train.
I'm talking about the posters of videos, not commenters.
The latest dodge has been to avoid responsibility. Now I'm seeing videos put up by people saying that they just found the info somewhere. They refuse to take responsibility for the very stuff they're posting.
Joseph Newman is another fine example of an "inventor" who deceives people, though in the beginning (1975) he really did believe he had discovered something no real scientist on the planet had. By the late 1980s he was outright lying to people.
agreed ... the mockery requires focus ... there are many worthy targets, many unsupportable claims ...
Just because its research that is not performed at a university under a government grant, does not mean that it is not worthy. I have some experience with the stifling nature of grant funded research within academia. Can assure you, those boys aint gonna create a better horse poop scooper. But someone who has poop to scoop, just might.
Actually the method of electrical power generation and distribution we use today was invented by Tesla. It was one of his earliest efforts. What may have been lost is the results of his efforts to improve on that design. He made some very interesting claims and did some rather shocking demonstrations that give clues to what he might have come up with. But when Westinghouse pulled financial support, most of the work was lost.
I have only watched youtube for a month or so, and I am already weary of the free energy crap. These nuts are either screwing with people, or are true believers and inconceivably ignorant.
Make more evolution videos (I know, creationists are irrational too. But they are more fun!!) You can talk about how humans will likely speciate as a result of the mutation that turned an irrational, illogical, hubristic human brain into a rational, logical, sensible brain (or was it the other way around?).
Completely disregarding the topic... there is a thing called tact when it comes to attacking people if you really want to throw an impact on what you are saying :/
I was hoping for something other than roughly the same thing said multiple ways using the F*** work in various forms.
Energy is conserved on all scales we can experience. Conservation of energy can be proven mathematically assuming the laws of physics aren't changing, which they aren't on any scale we can experience. Bitches.
i wonder why you spend so much time bashing free energy claims or ideas, there are ppl claiming elvis is alive and thats way more far fetched then free energy. probably because you're clearly lacking intelligence since intelligence is understanding and comprehending and not repeating and quoting outdated "facts" like it was once "fact" that earth is the center of the universe. keep burning dinosaurs in your crappy neanderthal combustion engine, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. magnets ftw!
I wonder how much he has to drink before he can put this beautiful string of linguistical musing together. But I don't disagree with the challenge, but maybe if you would put a little time into thinking maybe you could help make something happen.
I dont expect we will come up with any earth changing breakthroughs or achieve "over unity" or whatever it is you are looking for, and I really dont care ...
we have a plan, we are working the plan, we are documenting our work and we submit videos here for review by our peers ...
you see the difference is that people like d3 and I are actually doing science, not talking about it or worshiping it was some sort of religion ... so close the door on your way out !!!
I have a client in chicago who has elected to save money on his building by cheating on the steel and concrete.. so now it shakes and rattles... and he tried to blame everyone else.
I was on the job for a day and he is stomping around demanding that I should fix it. i told him to move his office to the top floor.. he enquired as to why... so that when it collapsed he would have the best chance of being dug out.
the world is not overrun with rocket scientists these days.
no they are not. educate yourself on a subject before you try to comment on it. this is a response to all those videos where people say they have a device that can make more energy than is put into the machine. and all energy we have is free energy by your definition. if we didnt get more money out of it than we put into it, why would we bother?
I understand what you're trying to say, but the language was rather over the top. We got the message in the first few seconds... the rest seemed kind of pointless and repetative. because of that I had to downrate this one.
(Yes, I'm one of the few who have the balls to be honest and admit I'm the lousy fucker who downrated you, and also why. Howzabout that eh?)
The 60s era Hasbro Super Ball was a over-unity device capable of an energy output vastly surpassing today's doped down super ball knock-offs and common golf balls. Please donate your 60s era Hasbro Super Balls to the Free Energy Over&Under Driver Project or FEOUDP. Please send 60s era Hasbro Super Balls or a typewriter ...
As you said before, anyone that had such a device would be filthy rich. I remind everyone here (again), that there is a One Million Dollar prize offered by the James Randi Educational Foundation. It remains unclaimed. It is for proof of any paranormal, supernatural (that's includes you free energy and overunity idiots), and occult people. But you'll have to prove your powers or inventions actually work... which so far, no one can actually do! LOL
Why even bother doing 1 or 2 more videos about this? You've said what there is to say, & you are correct. There are all kinds of strange beliefs. For example: Christians. I understand they think there was a man floating in space who created the earth and life on earth, LOL.
Even if someone harnesed the power of the hot air these guys are blowing out it still wouldn't be free energy, as having to listen to them piss & moan while harnesing it is the greatest cost anyone could pay.
@d3, I suppose we could provide them with the math on what we have already achieved with our generator tests, but these folks would not know something interesting if it bit them on the butt ... and I dare say none of them posses the technical acumen to comprehend the math ... would be a waste of effort ... in their narrow view of it, if it dont run forever on nuthin' it aint real ... they are as narrow minded as some of the one on the other side of the argument ... oh well ...
If you want to talk about math look up "Noether's Theorem." Energy is conserved because the laws of physics aren't changing on any scale we can experience. But if it makes you happy, have some physicists examine your experimental methods and results... Report back when you've won a scientific concensus with your undeniable evidence. Unitl then, continue to waste your time building devices that *ironically* demonstrate conservation of energy.
I am quite familiar with Noether's Theorem. Is an expansion on Lagrange. Has nothing to do with what I am working on. Might be interpreted to apply to some magnetic motor experiments if you really contort the argument a lot. But has no application in traditional energy convertion experiments. Only applies to Lagrangian models to describe rotational symetry. Next.
Noether is simply a reinterpretation and expansion on Lagrange and is only really applicable in determining the symetry of a Lagrangian model. Took academia 150 years to update Lagrange but they finally got around to it. There are other theories on the conservation of energy that are more applicable.
It's still a powerful tool for modeling reality, and since the laws of physics appear to be invariant with respect to a time shift, it's also another nail in the "free energy" coffin.
Which is the odd one out? Time Travel. Why? Because Time Travel has yet to be firmly 100% disproven. Also everyone who's actually working on Time Travel is ACTUALLY working on it rather than wasting time talking to us about it.
LMFAO!! Can I offer you a Percocet or two? Taken with a 12 pack of Miller they help immensely.
This is what totally cracks me up, and at the same time makes me want to scream. The fucktards constantly announce loudly and proudly that they've "found it," and NOT ONCE do they prove it. Of course, we know damned good and well that they can't, but fer gods sake, could they please shit or get off the pot? Some of the rest of us might need to take a dump.
I have no idea what you just said, but it sure sounded cool ... but my understanding of Noether is that its just an expansion on Lagrange ... and while it introduces some interesting concepts in theoretical physics, its application as a potential energy source escapes me ... but hey, dream on ... maybe you got a twist on it I dont understand and can make it dance ... I hope you succeed and make me eat my words ...
Noether's theorem is not something you can use as an energy source. It's mentions a basic property of our physical universe. Indeed, you have no idea what the previous poster just said.
if I understand the previous post, they are trying to use Noether as conservation of energy proof. as no specific reference was givem I was left to guess at the context. I agree with you that its pretty tough to apply Noether as an energy source. Its more accurately used to describe rotational symetry in a a Lagrangian model. So it baffles me how it keeps coming up in discussions of alternative energy. Seems some are fixated on it but dont know more about it than what they read in WikiPedia ..
The thing is: if "free energy" would have any merit, it would break rotational symmetry and our universe would be totally different from the one we observe. Our universe is still as it is though, so "free energy"is obviously bunk.
Have heard of some "free energy" devices that have nothing to do with rotational symmetry. More to do with "tapping into" a rotational symmetry. There are a number of interesting ideas out there being worked on. A couple look promising but verdict is out. There is a long list of devices that have been publicly demonstrated that have shown anomalous energies. The simplest to demonstrate is the "earth battery". Quite easy to construct. An explained phenomena that was once considered impossible.
We already have free (to you and me) energy. It's called solar and wind power. These crackpots should focus their efforts on improving these technologies rather than touting their perpetual motion machines.
While not really free (have your priced good quality solar panels recently?), the technologies you mention are promising ... but why not let the dreamers dream ??? who knows which backyard inventor might turn out to be the next Tesla or Einstein ... leave them to their experiments ... they hurt no one ... but the Nihilists do with their absurd tirades ...
Good one! I agree. Let's see them run their entire house on the device and be getting money from the power companies. Likewise the stupid Muslims need to win a Nobel prize for the amazing science in the Qu'ran or shut up and admit that they are just picking bits of poetry
Funny, isn't it: popular knowledge of a possible world energy crisis is on the books and some people are claiming to have created energy out of nothing. A deficit will be filled with a solution, and if that is impossible, filled with a fantasy solution.
As for irrigating the Sahara, that was my first thought when I heard about 'magnetic motors' a decade ago. If only...
It's true, I am no longer amused by their shit, I was, it was hilarious but it's gotten old, though I'm certain this feeling will subside & I'll be LMFAO at them again later. I'm sure we all wish they could but they can't put up because they'd have to defy the laws of ph.. of any reality in order to do so.. unless they call the universe itself their creation, in which case they'd pretty much have to be the paradoxical god who somehow existed to create existence. They'll never produce an Uroborus
MACDER Magnetic Motor, I've seen several convincing 20 year old videos, it's based on Spintronics.
Spintronics is the study of electron spin, all electrons spin, but it's normally random.
If you can encourage a matrix and then tap into that marix, you can extract energy from a vacume. Free Energy!
He sat on the device powering is car, after 20 years, he went public and died a week later. His family has been trying to licence the technology. They just went silent, videos deleted.
Every system I have evaluated, and there have been quite a few, has required some form of conversion from one form of energy to another. But I have seen a very few systems that appear to output more energy than what I can measure going in as a coefficient of performance. I am not ready to call this "free energy" or "zero point energy" or any of the popular buzz words. I am sure that the excess energy can be explained logically, it just escapes my current undersanding.
Of my own work no, nothing so grand. My experiments are really pretty tame. Figuring out methods of handling mass volumes of rocket fuel without blowing myself up. Nuts and bolts sort of things. The fellows with the really cool stuff dont publish on YouTube. They only do private showings from time to time. I have been fortunate to be invited to see a few. Took instruments to confirm to my own satisfaction and was impressed on a few occasions. Nothing earth shaking.
I wish that this would shut up those cunty face bastards, but it won't.
I expect in 10,000 year when we can access many new and exotic forms of power there will still be morons with batteries and tinfoil claiming they have magical machines.
The same thing happens with "Free Trade" cultist. They for some reason believe that they see "Free Trade" specifically written into the US Constitution or that some how the concept of "Free Trade" is interpreted into the US Constitution.
The opposite analogy to their theory is that Communist some how see Communism specifically written into the US Constitution.
Like You, Ive seen many things that make me wonder, but other than HHO
I havent seen a magnetic motor that doesnt look so improbable that I have a hard time believing it. If I had a working prototype of something, Id send it to you and we could drop it on the world together like an A Bomb. Can you just image the fun.
Anyone Willing to put on a live demo, Im willing to drive to see it.Anyone wanting to have us all help promote a working design, Im in, are you?
I have an idea, you connect the shaft of a permanent magnet generator to the shaft of a permanent magnet motor and connect the wires to each other. Spin the shaft and the generator will power the motor.
Did I mention that electrical resistance is banned from this physics party?
You know, lots of people collect STAMPS, build model trains, play WOW and waste their time watching "TV" or You Tube.
Things that we take for granted today would have been magic 40, 60, 100 years ago.
Physic's is not cast in stone. A Magnetic Motor would work if an unbalanced field could be maintained {that is the problem}, even using today's understanding of physics.
I'm confused. what does physics have? What you wrote is incoherent.
Things we take for granted would not have been magic 40, 60, 100 years ago, they would have been extremely advanced technology for the time. What are you even talking about? What is your point?
"I'm confused. what does physics have? What you wrote is incoherent.
Things we take for granted would not have been magic 40, 60, 100 years ago, they would have been extremely advanced technology for the time. What are you even talking about? What is your point?"
I do not understand what it is that physics possesses by this sentence. It's not clear, hence why I asked.
"Things that we take for granted today would have been magic 40, 60, 100 years ago."
This is not true. None of our technology works by what was magic a even hundred years ago. It would have seemed like advanced technology that is unknown, but only the most ignorant would have said that it's magic. Also, he doesn't even make a point.
In the 1930's an isolated tribe was discovered in New Guinea that were worshiping an idol made of wood and reeds that bore a striking resemblance to an airplane. Once a dialog was established it was determined that the people had started seeing such things in the sky some years back and had determined that it must be the presence of a very powerful god. Hence the idol. Yes, some common technologies of today might have been considered magic or god like in recent history.
I think my point was quite well made and very lucid. It was a perfectly presented analogy. The example I gave is accurate, verifiable, and does address the issue being discussed. You can choose to disagree with my opinion which is based on these facts, that is your right. But if you take time to research the facts, you will find it to be an accurate portrayal, of a real event, within recent history, where people as smart as you and I, interpreted modern technology as magic or god like.
Your point was about ignorant and remote people who saw technology of their time as magic.
The original post was talking about people from 100 years ago and today's technology being magic.
I responded to the original post by saying that people of 100 years ago would recognize modern technology as technology, just as advanced. Why? Because many precursors of today's technology existed 100 years ago and any reasonable person could deduce what it was they were looking at.
These people were much less than 100 years ago and the incident occured only a few decades after the first powered flight.
And yes, if I had seen a propeller driven airplane and encountered a jet, I might be surprised, but would assume it was a new type of something I had already seen.
However, if I saw what folks describe as a flying saucer, I might think it was an alien device instead of some advanced prototype of my own military ...
Right, I know that they were much less than 100 years ago. The point is that they were looking at technology of their time and seeing it as magic. The reason for this is that they were completely ignorant and isolated people. This is not the same thing as general people 100 years ago looking at today's technology.
Right, but you wouldn't conclude that the flying saucer is magic, right?
Thank you for supporting my point that the original post had no point.

Any electrical engineering department can build a successful magnetic Wankel engine, since its principles are already in electrical engineering. The motor simply eliminates its back mmf, so that it continuously accelerates and can power a load with only some switching and control input. It is also easily close-looped, to make it totally self-powering.
guyzzemf 3 years ago
There is no such thing as something "totally self-powering." Even stars are not.

What do you think?
NomadSoul76 3 years ago
Let me expand upon this a bit more. Look, I'm all about exploring the possibilities, I'm quite fond of unconventional answers. But look at how many people are pursuing crackpot science on youtube? You have to know that at least a majority of the stuff they're doing is nonsense. This is wasted energy, wasted time. They're not helping anyone, they're just wasting time indulging their personal fantasies. And they're working hard to convince everyone else that they're geniuses.
NomadSoul76 3 years ago
dont know much about global conspiracies, not my bag. dont think Tesla ever said anything about "free energy" though he did claim to have discovered a method making and transmitting electricity that would be so cheap, it would be not be practical to try to meter it. Much of his work was indeed suppressed but by Westinghouse, not any global conspiracy. But Tesla is the one who brought you the AC current delivered to your home.
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
The whole wireless electricity thing, neat as it was, was inefficient. Plus, with all the concern today about the possible health effects of the EMF coming off of high tension power lines and the RF from cell phones, well.. just imagine the potential problems from RF broadcast electricity powerful enough to run an entire city.
NomadSoul76 3 years ago
you are probably 100% correct ... but I would still like to know how he did it and replicate the effect if I can figure it out ... I can transmit fairly high wattages using line of site microwaves now ... but he was doing something I do not yet understand ... and that is enough to warrant investigation ...
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
"but I would still like to know how he did it and replicate the effect if I can figure it out"
Using Tesla coils. Like the standard geek party trick of illuminating a florescent tube with one.
wikipedia has a little detail on how Tesla apparently thought a network of thirty large Tesla coil antennas could power the entire world, it probably doesn't have enough info for your liking but the citations could give you more to go on.
NomadSoul76 3 years ago
"Gee, and look what's come of that in the many years since his death."
Of course Tesla never came up with anything superior to what is already on the market these days. The "free energy" nuts seem to believe Tesla was some kind of god-like technical genius who surpassed AND STILL SURPASSES the entire world's electrical engineers.
Desertphile 3 years ago
I think Tesla is a fascinating historical figure, but you have to take tales about him with a strong air of skepticism. He was a genius, but one of those eccentric geniuses that wasn't always reliable.
Still.. reading the wikipedia entry on him is interesting. He was all over the map, he invented a bladeless turbine among other things.
NomadSoul76 3 years ago
Tesla demontrated radio control before Marconi demonstrated radio amoung other interesting things. Tesla turbine is simple to build as a demonstration but I have yet to find a practical use (no torque, high revs). Yes, was all over the map but was certainly not god like. Flawed like most of us. But so much of what he was working on 100 years ago never got proper follow up that it leaves many questions unanswered. Perhaps he did stumble onto some ideas that might be usefull today.
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
Agreed, many would elevate Tesla into some sort of sci-fi cult hero. He was just a guy with some very unusual hobbies, many of which were developed into practical products that we still use today.
It is fact that only a small piece of the work he did is available for examination. So its pretty hard to tell if any other things he came up with might also have been practical.
The "free energy nuts" that you mock could potentially stumble onto something interesting also. Leave them alone.
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
"The 'free energy nuts' that you mock could potentially stumble onto something interesting also. Leave them alone."
Ah, no. If your daughter or son insisted 4+4=2 would you "leave her or him alone?" What if everyone in your neighborhood believed 4+4=2? Would you just remain silent?
Desertphile 3 years ago
If it were my son or daughter, it would indeed be my business. But from my point of view, the issues you mock people over are not as simple "black or white" as your 4+4=2 example. You mock a multitude of grey shades. If you were to mock the exaggerated claims of an individual, that would be fair game. But your sweeping mockery of every field of study you happen to deem unworthy tosses the baby out with the bath water. But then, the tactic does increase your ratings, dont it?
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
"the issues you mock people over are not as simple "black or white" as your 4+4=2 example."
Yes, it is. There is no such thing as "free energy;" there are no such things as miracles. Saying one has discovered "over unity" is exactly as saying 2+2=20.
Desertphile 3 years ago
"The "free energy nuts" that you mock could potentially stumble onto something interesting also. Leave them alone."
Here is the distinction I make. Some guy (or girl) messing around in his basement is free to do whatever he wants. Maybe his work has the potential to be revolutionary.
But there are both naive and ignorant people who make unwarranted leaps, and con artists, both of them need to be put in their place.
NomadSoul76 3 years ago
Whether it's a basement tinkerer who falsely thinks that he has invented a free energy device or a con artist who thinks that he can get other people to pay for his parlor trick by claiming that it's a free energy device, these people need to be opposed.
That is the way of REAL science. In science, your peers are your harshest critic. If you cannot stand up to their critique then your work doesn't pass muster. This is the way it must be.
NomadSoul76 3 years ago
I agree with this argument.
I have reviewed a number of contraptions over the years that showed some initial promise.
I have not encountered any inventor who purposely made exaggerated claims or set out to con anyone.
What I have run into is a number of people to needed to be educated in how to perform proper measurements of performance characteristics.
But I have also seen some anomalies that were interesting. So I remain open to the possibility of being surprised.
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago 3
"I have not encountered any inventor who purposely made exaggerated claims or set out to con anyone."
In the world of youtube, I have.

NomadSoul76 3 years ago
NOT ONCE have I ever encountered a poster who said "oops, I see where I went wrong". They ALWAYS fight back with smug self assuredness. Instead of dealing with the science, they leap onto the conspiracy freight train.
I'm talking about the posters of videos, not commenters.
The latest dodge has been to avoid responsibility. Now I'm seeing videos put up by people saying that they just found the info somewhere. They refuse to take responsibility for the very stuff they're posting.

SmartScarecrow 3 years ago 2
If you want to talk about math look up "Noether's Theorem." Energy is conserved because the laws of physics aren't changing on any scale we can experience. But if it makes you happy, have some physicists examine your experimental methods and results... Report back when you've won a scientific concensus with your undeniable evidence. Unitl then, continue to waste your time building devices that *ironically* demonstrate conservation of energy.
ssnatcherss 3 years ago
I am quite familiar with Noether's Theorem. Is an expansion on Lagrange. Has nothing to do with what I am working on. Might be interpreted to apply to some magnetic motor experiments if you really contort the argument a lot. But has no application in traditional energy convertion experiments. Only applies to Lagrangian models to describe rotational symetry. Next.
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
"...energy conservation is implied by the empirical fact that the laws of physics do not change with time itself. See Noether's Theorem."
-Taken from the wikipedia page on conservation of energy.
Noether's Theorem has more applications than you think (not just rotational symmetry).
ssnatcherss 3 years ago
Look it up.
ssnatcherss 3 years ago
Noether is simply a reinterpretation and expansion on Lagrange and is only really applicable in determining the symetry of a Lagrangian model. Took academia 150 years to update Lagrange but they finally got around to it. There are other theories on the conservation of energy that are more applicable.
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
It's still a powerful tool for modeling reality, and since the laws of physics appear to be invariant with respect to a time shift, it's also another nail in the "free energy" coffin.

anmoose 3 years ago
Energy conservation is an emergent property of systems that obey time-translational symmetry.
(Refer: Noether's Theorem)
Violating it will do more profound things to our understanding of physics than solve our little energy crisis.
dileepvr 3 years ago
I have no idea what you just said, but it sure sounded cool ... but my understanding of Noether is that its just an expansion on Lagrange ... and while it introduces some interesting concepts in theoretical physics, its application as a potential energy source escapes me ... but hey, dream on ... maybe you got a twist on it I dont understand and can make it dance ... I hope you succeed and make me eat my words ...
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
Noether's theorem is not something you can use as an energy source. It's mentions a basic property of our physical universe. Indeed, you have no idea what the previous poster just said.
MomoTheBellyDancer 3 years ago
if I understand the previous post, they are trying to use Noether as conservation of energy proof. as no specific reference was givem I was left to guess at the context.
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
The thing is: if "free energy" would have any merit, it would break rotational symmetry and our universe would be totally different from the one we observe. Our universe is still as it is though, so "free energy"is obviously bunk.
MomoTheBellyDancer 3 years ago
Have heard of some "free energy" devices that have nothing to do with rotational symmetry. More to do with "tapping into" a rotational symmetry. There are a number of interesting ideas out there being worked on. A couple look promising but verdict is out. There is a long list of devices that have been publicly demonstrated that have shown anomalous energies. The simplest to demonstrate is the "earth battery". Quite easy to construct. An explained phenomena that was once considered impossible.

Do it again, and video tape the two men arriving at your door, and put it up on YouTube. I'll believe you then... maybe.

Hee! Next time just shoot them: they aren't humans anyhow. :-)

Shame on you, Desertphile. Encouraging people to murder imaginary characters like that...

So you played with some magnets... big deal.
It wasn't a waste of time.

I'm confused. what does physics have? What you wrote is incoherent.
Things we take for granted would not have been magic 40, 60, 100 years ago, they would have been extremely advanced technology for the time. What are you even talking about? What is your point?

How am I an idiot/troll?
"Physic's is not cast in stone"

Right, and I said: "Only the most ignorant would have said that it's magic"
I don't think that the original post was talking about some remote group of people that are isolated from current technology.
So what's your point?
Jma0322 3 years ago
I think my point was quite well made and very lucid. It was a perfectly presented analogy. The example I gave is accurate, verifiable, and does address the issue being discussed. You can choose to disagree with my opinion which is based on these facts, that is your right. But if you take time to research the facts, you will find it to be an accurate portrayal, of a real event, within recent history, where people as smart as you and I, interpreted modern technology as magic or god like.
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
Your point was about ignorant and remote people who saw technology of their time as magic.
The original post was talking about people from 100 years ago and today's technology being magic.
I responded to the original post by saying that people of 100 years ago would recognize modern technology as technology, just as advanced. Why? Because many precursors of today's technology existed 100 years ago and any reasonable person could deduce what it was they were looking at.
Jma0322 3 years ago
These people were much less than 100 years ago and the incident occured only a few decades after the first powered flight.
And yes, if I had seen a propeller driven airplane and encountered a jet, I might be surprised, but would assume it was a new type of something I had already seen.
However, if I saw what folks describe as a flying saucer, I might think it was an alien device instead of some advanced prototype of my own military ...
SmartScarecrow 3 years ago
Right, I know that they were much less than 100 years ago. The point is that they were looking at technology of their time and seeing it as magic. The reason for this is that they were completely ignorant and isolated people. This is not the same thing as general people 100 years ago looking at today's technology.
Right, but you wouldn't conclude that the flying saucer is magic, right?
Thank you for supporting my point that the original post had no point.
