this athlete is very strong and practice judo very well but should deepen the "Atemi Waza" if he wants to compete in MMA. has been champion for a year .. but it will not last much longer. Judo includes kicks and punches of course not in the Olympic judo but in judo taught 200 years ago by Jikoro Kano. this athlete wins because looking for the physical contact,if one day you will not have the physical contact he will lose
Judoka Olympic Gold Medalist Hidehiko Yoshida's most memorable MMA fights for me were his first fight against Wanderlei Silva and his retirement fight against Satoshi Ishii.
@TheCoon2000 yeah wow he won a halfassed descsion wow and he dropped his gi away before match wow incredible !! yoshida choked his ass out yoshida is the real man the judoka.
@momo200090 i take it you never actually watched the fight? because what i witnessed was a jap getting his head punched into for 10 minutes! he just lay there getting beat up, what a pussy
@TheCoon2000 who's the pussy:yoshida ??? hahahaahhahahahaha don't make me laugh you bjj practisioners could not take it that a bjj legend lost to a judoka hahahha he was fucking choked man.

@TheCoon2000 Really? There is quite a few more than 1 and no they don't all train BJJ. There was 3 judo guys on the Brock/Overeem card. Also the brown belt Judoka made the black belt BJJ guy look stupid, kind of a mute point really being as BJJ is just Judo that focuses on groundwork
@BroomeBlocker4 how many mma fighters are there out there? i think far more train bjj than judo, and all the throws that are in judo are in bjj too! but there's very little ground work in judo, also with no gi fights judo is useless, so what happens when an mma fight goes to the ground? yes that's right the judo fighter gets clobbered! thank you!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@TheCoon2000 wow, all the ground work that is in BJJ is in judo too. BJJ is judo with a different scoring system. Combat Judo always makes BJJ look stupid, like I said, the brown belt judoka made the black belt BJJ guy(who the commentators were saying is one of the best BJJ guys at his weight in the world) look stupid both standing and on the ground. It is just olympic judo that hurt itself as it gives an ippon for any throw nowadays and so judokas don't train much groundwork
@BroomeBlocker4 i competed in judo contests so i know what i'm talking about, we were allowed about 3 seconds on the ground and after that we were stood up, so where is all this ground work? when i trained judo it was mainly big fat heavy guys trying to pin you down and squash you, when i trained bjj we trained to finish the fight by choke or armbar etc,
Gracie opened my eyes (lots of us from Tae Kwon Do and Karate -- which you still use but they're just the supporting cast) way back in the first UFCs. Watching this skinny kid from Brazil Royce Gracie -- we were STUNNED how he chewed through monsters -- even big ones like Dan Severn (spelling my be Sevren I forgot), and Shamrock who we ALL thought would kill Gracie based on his technique and size -- nope! He fought Dan S forEVER until he made one little mistake and that was IT. Beautiful.
@ChristopherSaindon thank you my friend, that's why all mma fighters train bjj, and Dan Severn was a top class wrestler too! and he outweighed Royce by 80lbs, but no match for Gracie Jiu-Jitsu
@momo200090 have you seen the rematch? y'know the 2nd fight were royce dominates the judo fighter, i have trained both judo and bjj, and let me tell you this, bjj kicks ass! go on watch the 2nd fight and tell me who wins, infact the fight should've been stopped cos the jap got his ass kicked, as usual
the sub at 2:23 ... wow that's the 1st time I've seen an advantage to wearing a gi, a choke with your sleeve, very cool. I like this guy... having said that at 3:20 you can see why mma doesn't really prepare one for a street fight
@PitPat23 judo is also ground fighting. Olympic judo concentrates on throws. They have a time limit once they get to the ground as well as a pin of a certain amount of time for stalling. Stalling in a dominant position wins the fight.
I didn't know Judo preceded BJJ. This is interesting. I do Muay thai, and wanted to do some BJJ and juijitsu...My sensai said to take judo. Now I understand why! So cool!
@spartan159 If you look at old Judo photos from the 50s and earlier you will see that it looks very close to what we practice as BJJ now. The only difference is that BJJ is always evolving more advanced techniques. Judo is a great base for BJJ or as its own discipline, especially if you are young. The younger you are when you start Judo the better because the body gets use to the punishment of being thrown.
@UnknownCrypt I agree that many schools and early BJJ practitioners did and do this. But alot of schools are now focusing heavily on proper Judo techniques, and give separate classes strictly on Judo. This usually happens when a high level Judo guy comes to learn BJJ. Once he shows a couple of proper /advanced moves most BJJ guys are eager to learn and incorporate.
whats a flamer boy.i ment in the judo i know people where there judo stuff and put different coloured belts depending on how good they are.i already know what a faggot is.we eat them with mushy peas over here.

Often it appears that judo has limited control and the thrower gets caught in the momentum of the thrown. For example you can give in to be thrown and create inertia to immediately follow on from the momentum in order to end up on top of the thrower. This I see happens alot whether anticipated or not and for that I say again judo appears to have limited control..I have studied bjj for the past 5 years so apart from requiring excellent base, control of your opponent just as equally important..
@Leo75510884 Duh, Yoshida is a judoka. Anyway BJJ is just the newaza (ground fighting techniques) from judo. BJJ is basically judo, but without the throws.

@Netlocd never throwed by a judoka? if you are fully resisting a throw of a judoka can deliver 4 to 7 thousand pounds of force. i'm not saying boxing is a bad sport. it looks fun to me but i don't think it's really useful
@Kashingo "Boxing is a bitch sport." It's about the manliest combat sport out there. Better than grapplefucking faggots on top of each other. There's nothing better than standing up & trading shots to the face, unlike rolling around on the floor like a worm instead of a human being.
@eggsandwich8885 words of someone who probably appreciates the fight by watching and not actually participating. Going into MMA will make you respect all combat sports for their due value in a complete combat system, which SHOULD have both striking and grappling aspects. Btw, you should say Kickboxing is manlier than boxing ;). And by that respect, MMA is manlier than all combat sports. You combine em all into one that way, and get to see who really is the best! Respect to all arts!
@CommanderYuan You're right, I don't participate anymore. That part of my life ended, when I hit my teens. However, as you said I do watch MMA & Boxing. As far as kickboxing being manlier, I won't go there. As I really respect Muay Thai. MMA is a Frankenstein off all combat sports, so certain aspect of MMA I will consede.
@eggsandwich8885 Boxing is by no means a "bitch sport", but once a boxer is taken to the ground, the boxer is helpless and a good ground fighter will have his way. Couture vs. Toney is a perfect example of this.
@OnePonyDriver Lmao! Couture vs Toney is a perfect example between a well conditioned fighter vs a overweight plumpled up middleweight turned heavyweight. I agree that any pure Striker once taken down is out of his element, just like any pure grappler not able to find a way to get through a strikers offense. Early MMA started like this, before MMA evolved into what it is today. My problem is when grapplers think just because they're grapplers they're guaranteed a win in a fight. Its the athlete...
@eggsandwich8885 Let me show you some judo and lets see if you think that ;) Grappling is the core of fighting- if you don't have a solid grappling base then you don't know how to fight.
@grahamhg Okay, I'm sorry if i might have offended u.However, look at my comment I was merely rebutting someone that was criticizing Boxing without any reason too.So yes, out of the expense of grappling,I had to retaliate since I consider myself a striker. (amateur) Despite some Lay & Pray grapplers,I admit grappling has it's uses, but it comes down to "each his own." I preffer striking as it suits my personality. However, I have though about implementing the Judo hip toss for fighting in clinch
@muffinman1 Lol! Im assuming ur just a teenager. Yes i did see the video and the grabbing take downs. If that was a real fight, the judo guy would of hurt his own self and broken his own knee cap if it was cemented flooring and grazed his back big time. I do mu thai for 2 years now, it teached not to ever let ur oppenent come too close to u, keep a distance with angle kicks and punches to his face, but if close, elbows to the temple and knees to the ribs. and then run for your life!!!!!!
@Theshofumiah1 you're an idiot if you think a judo would hurt Himself simply because he's not fighting on the mat, there are videos of untrained street fighters doing belly to back suplexes without hurting themselves,in judo theres a little thing called breakfalling, its basically techniques on HOW to fall on someone when you throw them, and muay thai looks pretty fuckin dumb when they clack their shins together, now talk about hurting yourself
@iarcheese I dont know where your from, but im assuming ur just another dumb american keyboard gangster.
Im from the uk(england) and mu thai is very very well known, there clubs of mu thai all over the place(and Boxing), seriously, know one ever talks about Judo or karate, I still havnt seen no clubs that teach that type of shit. dum ass. go to ur fake Jerry springer show! loooooooooooooooool
@Theshofumiah1 well dipshit, if UK is such a great place to train than how come all British fighter suck bad on the ground...maybe its cuz they are arent training enough in Judo, BBJ and Wrestling...and if they are good, it means they went somewhere else to train
@Theshofumiah1 no,gay men have sex wtih each other, not attempt to slam each other on the ground only to try to crank limbs in such a way that they make the yelp like a dog and admit defeat, not so gay when you get a broken arm,so you go ahead and stick to your shin kicks and see what happens when you fight a REAL grappler
@iarcheese Mierko Cro Cop was only able to win with leg kicks because he had enough grappling knowledge not to get taken down and submitted, forcing Yoshida to fight standing.
@Phishstrangler i know that, but this guy is saying that grappling is gay altogether, which is a falicy, you cant expect to win every single match with just muay thai,im not bashing the striking arts at all, because i see alot of highschool wrestlers who think they are tough shit and they get their face pounded, basically what im saying, dont call another martial artists syle gay, cause you never know who your going to meet in the cage OR on the street
@victorgd1 this is always featuring a judoka fighting in mma. don't try the usual: these are unskilled unknown judokas etc, the first one is Hidehiko Yoshida, olympic lvl judoka, and those after are also world class judokas
Your judo might stop after nagewaza, they continue the fight with newaza and won some fights.
@victorgd1 actuallly this is mma,and the style that he is using is judo in fact,it may look like jiu jitsu, but thats only because jiu jitsu is an offshoot and was originally going to be called Brazilian judo
@eagleeye929 The sports that i did: Kung Fu, BJJ and now, boxing. I've seen my BJJ coach totaly dominate a world champion women in Judo... and by domination i mean. DOMINATION. Judo versus BJJ ain't nothing,
YOU CAN compare Judo and Jiu Jitsu, but as soon as you talk about GRACIE JIU JITSU and other Brazilian variation of the Jiu, Judo can't do shit about it. thats not an opinion thats a fact.
@HonKyTanKMaN brazillian Jiu-jitsu should be Brazillian Judo, it was based on Judo... They have a lot of the same techniques, Judo just spends more time on throws... Judo can beat BJJ, BJJ is just slightly better.
so I'm getting the impression that your argument is totally invalid because you've never practiced judo. You saw your BJJ coach dominate a student of judo once upon a time and you consider that a factual argument in favour of BJJ? Fuck, chances are you're speaking out of your ass and you've never even been on the mat, what else can assume when you come at me with bullshit like that?
@eagleeye929 the chances that im speaking out of my ass ? you're the one here who's reading with your ass. i didn't told you that my coach was a Black Belt and I SAID: My bjj coach totaly dominate a WORLD CHAMPION JUDO FIGHTER ... my coach is a blue belt and the Judo was a black belt. But it doesn't mean anything to explain this to you since you seems to be someone who can't read. Lets hope you practice your shitty Judo better than reading.
Hey pal, I'm not the one telling stories here. A blue belt working as a coach? I find that pretty unlikely for starters. Second off, this must have been the worst fucking world champion imaginable black belt imaginable, either you're exaggerating his position or you're making it up all together. And I never said I practiced Judo in the first place, which doesn't make me feel like I have the right to berate a martial art as inferior because of one fucking match you witnessed.
@eagleeye929 He coached me since he moved away from the Gym he used to train with the guys. You should know the names of Patrick "the predator" Côté and Georges St-Pierre ?! Thats 2 of the guys he was training with so all i can tell about your stupid comments is that you're only a fuckin' Down Syndrome kid's crap. fuck your Judo. Brazillian Jiu Jitsu is the best ground combat sport.
FUCK MAN, please please please. For the last fucking time I don't practice judo, I never have! I'm just not so quick to assume one martial art is better than the other. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Can't you see the logic in that man? And christ if I had downs syndrome I wouldn't even be able to formulate a sentence, please don't bring mental disability into this, it's cruel and disrespectful.
lol, sorry for the insult, but it is like gay rape to me haha, any move the man did looks like he's going to sexually rape the other dude

@Kashingo "Boxing is a bitch sport." It's about the manliest combat sport out there. Better than grapplefucking faggots on top of each other. There's nothing better than standing up & trading shots to the face, unlike rolling around on the floor like a worm instead of a human being.
eggsandwich8885 8 months ago
@eggsandwich8885 words of someone who probably appreciates the fight by watching and not actually participating. Going into MMA will make you respect all combat sports for their due value in a complete combat system, which SHOULD have both striking and grappling aspects. Btw, you should say Kickboxing is manlier than boxing ;). And by that respect, MMA is manlier than all combat sports. You combine em all into one that way, and get to see who really is the best! Respect to all arts!
CommanderYuan 8 months ago
@CommanderYuan You're right, I don't participate anymore. That part of my life ended, when I hit my teens. However, as you said I do watch MMA & Boxing. As far as kickboxing being manlier, I won't go there. As I really respect Muay Thai. MMA is a Frankenstein off all combat sports, so certain aspect of MMA I will consede.
eggsandwich8885 8 months ago
@eggsandwich8885 Boxing is by no means a "bitch sport", but once a boxer is taken to the ground, the boxer is helpless and a good ground fighter will have his way. Couture vs. Toney is a perfect example of this.
OnePonyDriver 7 months ago
@OnePonyDriver Lmao! Couture vs Toney is a perfect example between a well conditioned fighter vs a overweight plumpled up middleweight turned heavyweight. I agree that any pure Striker once taken down is out of his element, just like any pure grappler not able to find a way to get through a strikers offense. Early MMA started like this, before MMA evolved into what it is today. My problem is when grapplers think just because they're grapplers they're guaranteed a win in a fight. Its the athlete...
eggsandwich8885 7 months ago
@eggsandwich8885 Let me show you some judo and lets see if you think that ;) Grappling is the core of fighting- if you don't have a solid grappling base then you don't know how to fight.
grahamhg 7 months ago
@grahamhg Okay, I'm sorry if i might have offended u.However, look at my comment I was merely rebutting someone that was criticizing Boxing without any reason too.So yes, out of the expense of grappling,I had to retaliate since I consider myself a striker. (amateur) Despite some Lay & Pray grapplers,I admit grappling has it's uses, but it comes down to "each his own." I preffer striking as it suits my personality. However, I have though about implementing the Judo hip toss for fighting in clinch

Theshofumiah1 9 months ago
@Theshofumiah1 Actually, this is a video of one such "judo guy" dealing out punishment to leading kickboxing/MMA fighters.
ihaterobbie123 9 months ago
@Theshofumiah1 i guess u didnt actually watch the video which clearly shows judo guys closing in and grabing then throwing people.
muffinman1 9 months ago
@muffinman1 Lol! Im assuming ur just a teenager. Yes i did see the video and the grabbing take downs. If that was a real fight, the judo guy would of hurt his own self and broken his own knee cap if it was cemented flooring and grazed his back big time. I do mu thai for 2 years now, it teached not to ever let ur oppenent come too close to u, keep a distance with angle kicks and punches to his face, but if close, elbows to the temple and knees to the ribs. and then run for your life!!!!!!
Theshofumiah1 9 months ago
@Theshofumiah1 you're an idiot if you think a judo would hurt Himself simply because he's not fighting on the mat, there are videos of untrained street fighters doing belly to back suplexes without hurting themselves,in judo theres a little thing called breakfalling, its basically techniques on HOW to fall on someone when you throw them, and muay thai looks pretty fuckin dumb when they clack their shins together, now talk about hurting yourself
iarcheese 9 months ago
@iarcheese I dont know where your from, but im assuming ur just another dumb american keyboard gangster.
Im from the uk(england) and mu thai is very very well known, there clubs of mu thai all over the place(and Boxing), seriously, know one ever talks about Judo or karate, I still havnt seen no clubs that teach that type of shit. dum ass. go to ur fake Jerry springer show! loooooooooooooooool
Theshofumiah1 9 months ago
@Theshofumiah1 well dipshit, if UK is such a great place to train than how come all British fighter suck bad on the ground...maybe its cuz they are arent training enough in Judo, BBJ and Wrestling...and if they are good, it means they went somewhere else to train
jtbullfitghter 9 months ago
@jtbullfitghter yeh yeh wat eva. I stick to mu thai and dont mind boxing. judo, is gay, rolling around on the floor with men,.
Theshofumiah1 9 months ago
@Theshofumiah1 no,gay men have sex wtih each other, not attempt to slam each other on the ground only to try to crank limbs in such a way that they make the yelp like a dog and admit defeat, not so gay when you get a broken arm,so you go ahead and stick to your shin kicks and see what happens when you fight a REAL grappler
iarcheese 9 months ago
@iarcheese
kool. u stick do ur judo.
Theshofumiah1 9 months ago
@iarcheese lol dont worry. when trolls lose arguments they stick to frivolous swearing with cuss words.
ledias65 9 months ago
@iarcheese Mierko Cro Cop was only able to win with leg kicks because he had enough grappling knowledge not to get taken down and submitted, forcing Yoshida to fight standing.
Phishstrangler 9 months ago
@Phishstrangler i know that, but this guy is saying that grappling is gay altogether, which is a falicy, you cant expect to win every single match with just muay thai,im not bashing the striking arts at all, because i see alot of highschool wrestlers who think they are tough shit and they get their face pounded, basically what im saying, dont call another martial artists syle gay, cause you never know who your going to meet in the cage OR on the street
iarcheese 9 months ago
@jtbullfitghter The UK is a good place to train Judo (and jits) just most high ranking judoka see mma as a brawl.

nitcan 10 months ago 7
@victorgd1 this is always featuring a judoka fighting in mma. don't try the usual: these are unskilled unknown judokas etc, the first one is Hidehiko Yoshida, olympic lvl judoka, and those after are also world class judokas
Your judo might stop after nagewaza, they continue the fight with newaza and won some fights.
kind regards
laokon 10 months ago
@victorgd1 actuallly this is mma,and the style that he is using is judo in fact,it may look like jiu jitsu, but thats only because jiu jitsu is an offshoot and was originally going to be called Brazilian judo
iarcheese 9 months ago
@victorgd1 This is Judo that guy Yoshida won the Olympic gold medal in Judo in 1992. Look it up jujitsu isn't an olympic sport.
Rayman77792 3 months ago
@HonKyTanKMaN
judo is the throw that gets your opponet on the floor so u can use your jiu jitsu to get your submission so they both work together really good
proto1matrix2rail3 10 months ago
@proto1matrix2rail3 No Brazillian jiujitsu is the newaza (ground techs) from judo, all the BJJ techs were originally judo techs.
grahamhg 7 months ago
you know whos ass is getting beat right here royce gracie!
esedego 10 months ago
Brazilian jiu jitsu is far supirior than judo.
forget about judo , karate , aikido , wing chun it just doesn't work against grapplers.
BluePittbull666 10 months ago
@BluePittbull666 judo IS grappling also. BJJ originated from judo.

the fuck you know about martial arts?
eagleeye929 10 months ago
@eagleeye929 The sports that i did: Kung Fu, BJJ and now, boxing. I've seen my BJJ coach totaly dominate a world champion women in Judo... and by domination i mean. DOMINATION. Judo versus BJJ ain't nothing,
YOU CAN compare Judo and Jiu Jitsu, but as soon as you talk about GRACIE JIU JITSU and other Brazilian variation of the Jiu, Judo can't do shit about it. thats not an opinion thats a fact.
HonKyTanKMaN 10 months ago
@HonKyTanKMaN brazillian Jiu-jitsu should be Brazillian Judo, it was based on Judo... They have a lot of the same techniques, Judo just spends more time on throws... Judo can beat BJJ, BJJ is just slightly better.
buddy2000529 10 months ago
@HonKyTanKMaN
so I'm getting the impression that your argument is totally invalid because you've never practiced judo. You saw your BJJ coach dominate a student of judo once upon a time and you consider that a factual argument in favour of BJJ? Fuck, chances are you're speaking out of your ass and you've never even been on the mat, what else can assume when you come at me with bullshit like that?
eagleeye929 10 months ago
@eagleeye929 the chances that im speaking out of my ass ? you're the one here who's reading with your ass. i didn't told you that my coach was a Black Belt and I SAID: My bjj coach totaly dominate a WORLD CHAMPION JUDO FIGHTER ... my coach is a blue belt and the Judo was a black belt. But it doesn't mean anything to explain this to you since you seems to be someone who can't read. Lets hope you practice your shitty Judo better than reading.
HonKyTanKMaN 10 months ago
@HonKyTanKMaN
Hey pal, I'm not the one telling stories here. A blue belt working as a coach? I find that pretty unlikely for starters. Second off, this must have been the worst fucking world champion imaginable black belt imaginable, either you're exaggerating his position or you're making it up all together. And I never said I practiced Judo in the first place, which doesn't make me feel like I have the right to berate a martial art as inferior because of one fucking match you witnessed.
eagleeye929 10 months ago
@eagleeye929 He coached me since he moved away from the Gym he used to train with the guys. You should know the names of Patrick "the predator" Côté and Georges St-Pierre ?! Thats 2 of the guys he was training with so all i can tell about your stupid comments is that you're only a fuckin' Down Syndrome kid's crap. fuck your Judo. Brazillian Jiu Jitsu is the best ground combat sport.
HonKyTanKMaN 10 months ago
@HonKyTanKMaN
