  • TenTonBook, I love you. You are a GREAT teacher..

  • This series has been excellent in helping me understand the basics of Divs and how CSS styles work. I have been banging my head against the wall the last two nights trying to learn how to get stuff aligned properly in Dreamweaver, and you have explained to me exactly what I was looking for in 20 minutes. Thank you!

  • hey, really need help, im using dreamweaver cs5 trial version. These is no "advanced" in the new div, menu. only see, compound, id, tag, and class or case something. help, anyone? can u do this stuff in dreamweaver 4?

  • @greenhorns99 Hey! Yeah in DW CS5 you're looking for "id." ~Geoff

  • blurry, can not get anything out of it. the audio is great. You explain everything good. Just need it to be clearer.

  • Yep, that's YT. As mentioned in the sidebar, follow the link for a larger, much higher quality version.

  • I have a bit of a challenge for you as far as my website layout.

  • Thanks a lot for the concise tutorials

  • @youdjparents You betcha! My pleasure, enjoy! ~Geoff

  • video is blurry, voice needs to be louder, get rid of the annoying sound in the background . on a positive note you have a very nice kind sounding voice which is very important for training

  • @nerdsrfun2 Well...did you learn anything tho? That's what matters. Cheers for commenting! ~Geoff

  • You the man.

  • Thank you so much.

  • @cookoohunter You got it, my pleasure! ~Geoff

  • by the way, thanks a lot man, awesome tutorial 5/5

  • @akaadr Cheers mate! Just doin' my thing and hoping people enjoy it!

  • how can I make the content div auto adjustable in height depending on the content? I mean, you can choose auto height, but this doesn't push down the footer div or anything under the content div.

is there a way to fix that?

  • @akaadr Why don't you DM me on that one...~Geoff

  • Geoff my man! Thanks so much for creating these killer tutorials and showing all these 12 year olds how it's done LOL. I have learned more from this video serries than anything else, absoloutly love it 5 stars, helped me learn css and get away from all those tables tutorials. Thanks so much.

    Cheers,

    Michael.

  • Totally agree man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jonasnet1 Hahaha! You guys are too kind! As stated above, I'm just doing my thing and hoping people enjoy it. Sounds like you guys got a lot out of it. Here's to settin' the 12-year-olds straight, huh?! :) Cheers! ~Geoff

  • So, you have created a nested div and positioned it on the left of the 'main' div. Have you tried entering any content ? Because like this the content of the "main" div will be partially hidden behind the new nested div !!!

  • thanks dude, What a help.!

  • it would also be cool to have zooms to see the text that you type and selections. too blurry as it is.

  • TenTonBooks this is by far the best tut video i've seen. Thanks a lot.

  • Good tutorial, sometimes we know good quality tutorials from confusing ones. I learned something and when I learn something It's appreciated. Thanx, excellent vid. Cheers!!

  • excellent , thank you

  • thanks dude

  • TenTonBooks,

Thank you very much for this tutorial. It is the best tutorial I have seen in recent years. Just a question thou, while you created the "nested layer" (red Div Tag) on the left, you say "the name of my selector is gonna be number sign menu..". Does it mean "#signmenu", or "numbersignmenu"? The reason I am asking is that whatever I named the Div Tag I could not created the red column on the left. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your response in advance

  • Btyson it's going to be a #menu so just the pound symbol #(name here without brackets)

  • Great video! thanks very much.

How do I 'externalise' the stylesheet rules so I can apply it to a larger site?

    Rob

  • @Rob: Glad you liked the vid, Rob. Try researching "external style sheets." That'll getcha started! ~Geoff

  • 5/5 GREAT TUTORIAL! Better than mine :)

  • @Zeforce: Thanks! ~Geoff

  • amazing!

  • @idro2k & @lepaux: Thanks! ~Geoff

  • Hey Geoff, I was wondering if you knew how to use css as if it were a frame, like for example if I create a menu that will be used for all the pages in a website, how would I go about "targeting" the links to open in a blank area and leave the div menu intact? Thanks in advance for anything you can suggest.

    Cheers.

  • Hey lepaux, Sorry for not getting back to you. Short answer: Gahh, frames! Real Answer: You might wanna look up something called "iframes" to pull something like this off. Either that, or in DW, create your menu as a library item. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can target the way you used to with oldschool frames. Hope this helps! ~Geoff

  • Awesome!
