Dang, only 150HP/230FT lbs to the rear wheels? Was the motor stock? I got a 350P in my '70, mildly built w/ Ram Air III heads/manifolds, 4bbl conversion, high lift "068" cam and other mods. Hoping to make 300HP/390 ft/lbs to the rear wheels.
@GIwillo Thanks, Firebirds are soo fun, but because of there age, they're high maintenance XD mine is currently inoperable until I can afford to tear the engine apart T_T but it is definably worth it, look on Craigslist if you want one, now is definably a time to buy b/c of the economy.
yeah they are, but I like to bash them cuz I'm 6ft 6, ain't no way I'll ever be driving one lol. but It was a trip going against my friends FC (see my other vid for his dyno) that has like 95 whp evenly going against my Firebird (155whp, 225lbs torque). he started to top off at 100, I kept going, :P trade off is, he gets double the fuel efficiency that I get. XD
what that RX-7 guy should have told you, "shift before power drops on the rpm band." hence a dyno to know where power drops off at, everyone who ever looked at a dyno graph knows this easily. as far as the FC, even people that are 6' barely fit in it. i know, because i use to own one.
Oh it's a 68' alright. the chrome in the front extends around the headlights, in 69' they stop before the headlights. also the rear fender lights are of the pontiac symbol, not the firebird symbol that the 69' has.
What gears to you have in it? The biggest stop light performance you'll get is with a decent set of gears. I'd go 3:23 but no more than 3:55 for the street. The 3:55's will be tough to hang on the free way with using stock sized tires.
My 69 bird had a 350/Thr400 and a peg leg and I was getting 16mpg city... I swaped the 350 out for a 455 (trans and rear are the same) and I was getting 14mpg. Your car does sound good and strong even if it was a V7.
Thanks, At the time it was fireing all 8 cylinders. and I have a bit of a lead foot so another reason I had really shitty milage lol. How do you like the power from the 455? How did you build it? Hight Torque or HP? somewhere in between? Any reccomendations?

what r they numbers??
chopedandsectioned 1 year ago
@chopedandsectioned About 150 HP, 230 ft/lb torque
MrBiggMan66 1 year ago
were those chevy and ford boys telling to you to go 6800 rpm??? No need to rev a Pontiac that high -- rpms are for gutless/torqueless engines.
nachomax 4 years ago 8
heh, yeah they were, and it was an RX-7 guy telling me to rev that high... pfft, just cuz his little 1.3l engine can rev to 9k...

actually RX-7's are great cars, it's just that a majority of the owners are a bunch of retards.

hey man, i have a 68' firebird and the emblem doesn't say pontiac on the trunk, you sure its not a 69'? hah

I'm unsure of the gears, atm it's not even posi-traction , it's a peg leg lol. but it's one of the things I'm planning on modding soon.
MrBiggMan66 4 years ago
Cool...started with a similar set up. 13 mpg...will be about the same with a 455 or 350. Get the motor running strong and have fun.
sweepee10131013 4 years ago
Heh 455, thats the motor I'm looking into, build it up w/ 400lbs of torque :D Could be a bit of fun lol
MrBiggMan66 4 years ago
455's are cabable of 500+ torque. get a stroked 455

How about some motor, trans and differential stats?
sweepee1013 4 years ago
Well, it had a 350 which is down 1 cylinder now, turbo 350 tranny and it's gears are set up for full fuel efficiency, which at best is 13 mpg lmao
