it really was a great game, iv logged over 5 years on it now, but i cant bring my self to get back into it... i love this game, i hate it too but i cant let it go...
Well there are alot of resons but most ppl say the NGE which totaly changed the gameplay mechanics. For me it was the switch from a skills based game where you could easily drop a proffesion when you got bored with it and do something else or even have multiple proffs as long as you had enough skill points to spend. Now its a proffession based game and your stuck with one class like in wow or EQ. they also added a penalty (compared to the old system atleast) for grouping by spliting the xp
This. Also the end-game gameplay in the game is dreadful. Most pvp consists of people on both sides with ~18 buffs (two full rows). After REing was introduced to the game, then jewelry, profession revamps with expertise, etc, the game became about who has better gear and more buffs - not who has the better skill. Don't get me wrong, skill is still a factor, but no where near as big of a factor as it was in the CU or pre-CU.
You're right. But Star Wars Galaxies won't be around forever. Bioware's MMO, which will be KotOR, (Confirmed by about a dozen Lucasarts employees, who were then fired.) will take on it's legacy.
