  • Funny that the vikings are 1000 years early in this film.

  • Hey is this series originally from France? It's been a while since I last saw Asterix in any form.

  • Animation is great, and the lipsynching, is close to perfect and on the nose in certain scenes :)

  • Is Brad Garret dubbing Obelix?

  • Wow, the storyboarding is awesome in this.

  • Huge Asterix fan...finally a film that does the series justice!

  • Why must everyone depict the vikings as fatass dumbasses with unrealistic armor and helmets...

  • @Huscarlavery Because they were heavy-set, superstitious people, and if you were a Viking and your Village Shaman told you that your highly revered god said that 'Fear Gives You Wings', you would believe it too. Also, you're talking about 'Realism' in a movie where a 3-foot-tall man can drink some vegetable soup and punch a roman so hard in the face that he flies a mile into the air and is still alive when he hits the ground. If you want realism, You're in the wrong part of Youtube, my friend :)

  • @Compootor Also, I'm from The North as well, so I understand exactly what you mean when you don't want people to display our ancestry like that, but It's the iconic image of a Viking in Children's cartoons, I don't think people take it very seriously.

  • @Compootor will you believe me if i tell you that i once thought he said on minute 1:36 "I THOUGHTT WWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERREE!!!!"

  • asterix and obelix are the best!!!!!!!!!!

quite good the english gudurix (yeah, i'm spanish and I can't remember the name) with Sean Astin's voice

  • mmmmm! i love wild boar!

  • I'm taking French in school and I found thisss

  • This movie is soooo agains history! The toman empire falled hundreds of years before the vikings started raiding and still they coexist in this movie??? And another thing... VIKINGS DID NOT HAVE HORNS! hate this modern myth about viking..

And the vikings were not all fat...

  • @YYeezzppeerr

It's a cartoon movie, what did you expect? It's not like the past movies were accurate to history either

  • @SolidMike84 true... but it would be good if they didn't cross timelines with 100s of years differences anyway

  • @YYeezzppeerr

Men så har du en by som gör magisk trolldryck som gör dom superstarka och supersnabba, så det finns nog inga gränser efter det ^^

  • @SolidMike84 men babla sluta ha rätt o förstöra mina argument ;)

  • @YYeezzppeerr

    Okidoki ^^

  • the voices are just as i imagined. asterixes was the only one that wasnt how i thought

  • Boarcake... with marmelade...

  • Asterix is Awesome. The reason why the movie is good= made by real vikings! (Danish)

  • I love any Asterix movie thanks for put it up here….., can you tell where can I download it or buy it from, please?

  • 4:32 - 4:36 cracks me right up

  • amazing HQ

  • @JustHavingFun35

Yes I was myself impress by the quality of this AVI Files it is almost as good than an DVD (IMHO) why download an file in DVD of 2,5 GO if you can download the same file in AVI for 650 MO?

the quality is the same, in some case it is even better in AVI

same things concerning SD and HD

HD is clearly better however if we take in considerartion size-quality I prefer SD

  • I love this Cartoon and the comic too ^.^

    Greeting from Canada

  • @Vahki100

can you give me a link that confirm what you are saying

I can give you a link that proove it was first made in French

who care after all in which language it was made first

  • @Vahki100 it was made IN FRENCH first and translate into English and many others languages later.

it's not a cartoon made in US or UK.

  • @Vahki100 Asterix and Obelix has always been a french product and proud of it. So I suppose it was made in french first but it's really weird as SBw00t say, it match even better in the english version than in the french....

  • @Vahki100 Nope, this is a French cartoon dude it was all in French before dubbed and translated to English.

  • @Vahki100 im pretty sure it was in french first considering asterix and obelix is a french comic book :P

  • I think the old asterix cartoons are way more funnier.

  • Well the voices seem to match, the lip synch is pretty good, and the dialogue's not bad. All in all, a fine adaption.

  • This film was first released in French, right? Then why do the lips of the characters match the English voices?

  • @SBw00t

probably cause the translator did an good job !

there are person that are able to read in the lips since they can not use the sense of earing

those person can probably tell you in which language those character speak

I think the their lips mouvement don''t match any language

  • @alainaiso

they only open and shut their mouth and then the guy who make the voice should try to match with this open and shut mouth

probably when an character is angry or emotional they make the character open and close the mouth faster

  • @alainaiso But I'm also watching this movie in French right now, and compared to this version, their lips don't match the words at all. Its like the animators made this movie for an English audience despite the fact that this was made in France.

I think the only time I've seen a cartoon where I couldn't tell what was the original language was Lucky Luke. I've watched it in both English and French and their lips don't match any language! It's so confusing.

  • @SBw00t

probably they did an better synchronization in English than In French

In Lucky Luke probably neither did an good synchronization

  • Lol !! They attack each other by FISH !

  • French Cartoons is always funny and meaningful

  • I love Asterix and Obelix

  • Why delete my comment?alainaiso you are just as bad as youtube banning your vids and deleting my comment .and @helgimar867 Asterix and Obelix do not speak Icelandic! Idiot ! It's a Belgian -French cartoon .

  • @themayanpriest1977

sorry for my previous message I confuse you with another person that wrote stupid things

I recive a lot of message in youtube and I can confuse people sometimes

your comment was delete cause you insult people

just don't insult and your comment won t be delete that's it

  • @helgimar867

the comment of themayanpriest will be delete

  • Great quality Thanks for posting, I've never seen this episode :D

  • quality is awesome!

  • Hahaha...justforkicks

  • where did you get this io love the comics

  • I've never seen this before! I love Asterix, actually I love anything related to ancient and classical times. Although the Vikings existing at this time were different to the ones of the dark ages (I know, I know it's a cartoon and a great one at that)! I'll not nitpick anymore but enjoy the show!

  • the voices quite suck! the german ones are waaayy better!

  • i read the comic book asterix and the vikings its a newish one but its just like the original book asterix and the mormons

  • J'adore Asterix! Mon favorite est Obelix!!

  • I have the best memories of staying home from school with a cold in the winter all snuggled up in bed reading Asterix and Obelix all day long! :)

  • O my god, I'm from America learning French, and we learned about Asterix! I HAD NO IDEA!!!! It's so Americanized! But why are the typed words in French when the dialogue is in English?

  • I have asterix PS1 game

  • criptagraph is max mannigin from true jackson vp

  • Vikings don't know what fear is xD That's awsome

  • For a long time I was curious on who Asterix was.

So here I am watching a more recent version and also have seen the older versions.

    I dig asterix cartoons.

  • @shenloken2

I recomend the comic books. The Humor is much more sophysticated and some times cynical.

Still - I enjoy the cartoons and I think they represent the comic books pretty well. The "Twelve tasks of Asterix" is the best One so far.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english - I'm Polish and steal learning.

  • The Viking chief sounds like John De Maggio

    It MUST be him!

  • that cryptograph is such a fail and humaliation to the vikings XDDD

  • I remember this movie. I also used to read the comic books, they were great.

  • very nice

  • always my favorite cartoon character. do you have other asterix movies (in english)?

  • Cool, I used to read all the Asterix books :)

  • Parisium? Doesn't Vitalstatistix mean Lutetia? And why is Asterix calling the menhir a stone?

I know, I know. Some details from the comics had to be simplified.

  • Bullpucky! He called it a menhir in the 12 Tasks of Asterix, he can do it here.

  • sms at that age....

    BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!!

  • obelix is Robert from everybody loves Raymond, asterix is the actor who played john Adams.

  • HAHAHAHHAHA SMS!

  • what a name Justforkicks:P

  • Kaikkien aikojen paras sarjakuva.

  • hey dudes hahaha

  • Such nice voices, they sound like educated British men. Thank you for posting them.

  • they have American accents

  • They sound more like Americans trying to imitate British accents to me.

  • sounds like pretty good quality voice acting to me.

  • awsome paul giamatti is asterix and i recognise the voice of obelix

  • Asterix les meilleur qui soit! Je l'aime!!!!!!

  • SMS

    bwahahahahahaha

  • I grew up on the books. I'm still trying to cozy up to the animations.

  • one of the best if not the best comic ever made.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

The comics turned 50 years old today!!!

    50 years entertaining kids...awesome series

  • @lol1143 and not only kids...

  • @lol1143 don't forget us older who still enjoy asterix ;)

  • Does anyone where I can purchase a copy of this movie and where to find it,drop me a message here and I look forward to hearing from you!!

  • woah...

i never remember the magician from the book, but overall i think the movie looks good

  • je cherche a acheter la collection complete d'asterix et obelix mais impossible de la trouver sur le net. help?

  • As tu finalement trouver la collection ? je la chercher moi meme

  • HAHAHA my Fav Books when i was lil into a movie haha

  • and what on earth does that viking shout at the start?

  • If you mean when they jump out from the boat I think he is yelling "Charge". Atleast it sounds like it :)

  • whats the one where the romans shash open thousands of barrels of wine because one contains magic potion?

  • Asterix in Britain, I think..

  • There is some painful resemblance between Justforkix and Mutt Lange, the celebrity I arguably hate most.

  • JLangk: Of course not. Much of the movie is mythological =P

Also, how come nobody has claimed the copyrights of this movie? I'm surprised it's still up.

  • they delete about 50%my asterix and obelix movies some times ago, I don't understand why they did not also reclaim copyrights from this movie

  • Huh, that's weird. Maybe it was just the YouTube editors themselves, who knew that somebody had the copyrights. That just leaves the question: why didn't they remove the others as well?

Nevertheless, it IS illegal anyways. I'm just so very confused and tired of YouTube's filthy ways of handling things. It's just so... corrupt...

  • Over ten years of being an animator, and I finally see Asterix for my first time. Great work by the animators!

  • I don't think vikings raided when the "gauls?" were fighting the romans. Since Julius Ceasar is alive I'm guessing this happened between 49 and 44 BC. The "vikings" at that time didn't do "viking raids" like organised efforts. The longboat wasn't invented yet either.

  • its a cartoon, history didnt show the gauls having magic potion either and i really do hope there were no romans between 750 - 1066. lighten up! if you want to pick at history why not start with horny helmets?

  • where did u get those dates from?

  • i have a few viking books lying around, i went from the viking starting in britain which was the raid on lindesfarne instead of the when they were around in europe, and the end of the vikings as 1066 when they got snotted at hastings. it was just to make a point that there wouldnt have been any romans in togas and sandals when the vikings were doing there stuff.

  • No, they didn't. they invaded quite a bit later.

And yes, they were called Gauls. Gaul was france.

    But it's a cartoon, I couldn't care less.

  • its a CARTOON. i was watching biker mice from mars the other day, but mice can't really ride bikes and don't live on mars. so what, man wise up

  • Majestix' face at 5:56 xD LOL

BTW Obelix is the funniest in all the Asterix Movies (Especially Gerard Departieu in the RealFilms of asterix)

  • Great for Pooh Simba Timon and Pumbaa's Adventures with guest stars

  • HAHA "It's always the same! We raid an NO ONES THERE!"

  • lol the Viking Chief is the guy who does Bender's voice in Futurama!

  • What is this?

I watched many asterix and obelix cartoons, but i still haven't seen this one.

    When did it come out?

Also asterix and obelix series is just awesome, all cartoons, games are fun and the comics are good.

Somebody had a really good idea when they decided to make asterix and obelix cartoon. Also i am used to the german language in asterix and obelix.

  • This one came out years ago

  • German? Its french,

  • "this thing called fear" LOL

  • Excellent cartoon. Regarding the bad critics, they'd be pure cultural jealousy, as if one should be "better" than the other (a stupid perception imho). Also, one is calling for some "Americanization" (the young): totally false. On the opposite if one wants to see it that way, the plot shows how the "arrogant show-off" culture renders mentally and psychologically fragile people, as fear can embrace them very fast for whatever reason... Which is logical when you think of it.

  • 4:35

    Combo-ed in the face.

  • thank for uploading these I really appreciate it..not bad in terms of animation some very appealing characters it's funny and great overlapping action......cheers

  • j'aime mieux ce film en francais. parce- que en francais c'est plus interessant et plus comic. and why every country wants to copy american style, this little guy pure wants to be american in that movie. ahg!!!!

  • But there's no one as americanised as Obelix. Three times guess what I mean :-D

  • you say that cause Obelix is fat?

  • Bien sur!

  • The animation in this one is great, but the dubbing, plot, and jokes are sub-par.

(Coincidentally, The Twelve Tasks of Asterix is a bit of a reversal of that description.)

  • Typical really. They only make new asterix and obelix movies for the money.

  • Actually, the dubbing is great. Garrett and Giamatti nailed it hard.

  • Lol, you can't decide whether Justforkix's hair is shoulder-length, mid-back-length or waist-length, he switches all the lengths.

  • this just sucks,in English,im sorry i really dont care if you put thumbs down on this one..it does

  • Yes, but someone does not understand french...

  • Man what happened to their voices! why didn't they use french accents for asterix and obelix like in asterix in britain? its not right to hear them have american accents!!

  • I just love these asterix comics.

    But more asterix movies.

  • boar cake with marmalade! XD

  • This was done by danish animators! YEAHAA!!

  • thank you so much for putting this on here <3 Especially in English.

  • in french is possibler please

  • damn..I always wanted to try roast wild boar. It looks so fyckin yummy!

  • Wonder why it's not called Asterix and the Normans...that's the title on the comic book.
