  • How do I discharge static electricity, and what is a static free surface?

  • is this the same in a 2011 model? and whats the ram limit in a 13 inch?

  • @guitarmanicman321 If you go to everymac.com they have the RAM limit for each model.

  • Thank you so much!

  • No obvious ESD precautions were taken. You can damage your computer using the methods shown in this video. (ESD = Electro Static Discharge)

  • the screws under the battery/hdd cover on mine are really tight! i cant remove them without ruining the screws :( HELP!

  • I have a 4gb macbook pro 15" model 2011. What 8gb ram would you recommend for me ? I don't know which brands are good.

  • new

  • I have same macbook pro 15 .... can I upgrade my ram to 8 GB

    I'll use Corsair 8 GB DDR3

  • Thought I'd share this tidbit. This late 2008 model supports up to 4gb, officially. But if you have the right firmware update you can install 8gb. If buying from Crucial just order the memory for the next model 2009) and Google for info on the firmware.

  • I have a unibody 2010 macbook pro and i have 4gb ram inside default i want 8gb or even more is that possible whats the limit for my macbook i have intel i5 and stuff... :D

  • @rhigosrebel

    it's 8gb max (2 x 4gb)

  • Dammit, ALL videos are with that easy to remove cover, i cant find one with the new full alu body!!!

  • This was perfect. Thank you.

  • I subbed great video thanks, it will help me

  • very helpful, thanks

  • why this MB has a ledge and i have no?????

    pls answer

  • the component to left of battery is the Hard Drive??

  • upgrading the ram and/or hard drive yourself does not void apple warranty

  • great video! i have a problem though.

i managed to unscrew all screws with a philips 000 screwdriver, except the two middle ones on the bottom. Aren't the all screws the same? i havent got a 00 so i tried with 000 and 0. 0 is too big... i m not sure whats wrong with the 000.

has anyone had a similar thing?

  • does this void the warranty

  • simply installing ram as far as i know does not void your warranty.

  • why i have not this ledge???? i have the same macbook!!

  • Where did you get the screw driver you are using for this video?

  • I want to do this, but i want to know one thing. Does this void my apple care warranty?

  • No. As long as you see a short guide underneath the battery, everything is fine ;-)

  • Yes it will but if you follow the video nothing will go wrong but make susre you get the correct ram for you mac. I will get my ram next week online with crucial check out there website and do use the scanner the have online.

    Good luck bro.

  • you said the correct ram. wich one is the correct one? how can i find it?

  • hEY!

dOES iLIFE'09 COME PRE-INSTALLED ON ALL MACS? PLEASE REPLY! AND DO U SUGGEST BUYING iWORK'09 SEPERATE OR LIKE PRE-INSTALLED?

  • iLife '09 will come pre-installed on any Mac you go buy from the store today. I like iWork '09, I'm not sure the difference between buying it separate or pre-installed but I know separate it's only about $70 and it's not hard to install.

  • Hey no iwork09 will not come with it but ilife09 will. My UK mac had it,

  • If u buy iWork with a Mac u get it for $41 (original price $71) thats what i got and its a very good deal because i got it with a student discount

  • can you change the ram before you even star it for the first time when you bareley open it

  • Yes, but I would run the computer first to make sure it's working OK.

  • Very good. Thanks very much for posting.

  • what is the limit of ram we can put in the macbook pro

  • 6G in the new 15" aluminum model and 8G in the 17" model.

  • actually, the new 15" aluminum model can support only up to 4 G, not 6G.

  • MacOSG is chatting crap its 4GB mac in the 15" ones check on apple website.

  • thanks dude. really helped. :)

  • This is great... Thanks so much.

  • I would avoid anyone purchasing memory for the new late 2008 MacBook and MacBook Pro's from any third-party vendor (yes, even OWC) as they have been causing system lockups and crashes to a large percentage of users.

The new MacBooks might probably use a different latency or voltage for their memory and only Apple-supplied memory isn't causing these problems (which are branded by Samsung)..

  • Be sure to note that the new MacBook Pros (late 2008) require DDR3 memory modules... as DDR2 will not fit (I found this out the hard way).

  • Unlucky

  • yea, i was looking for a video like this, thanks man! hope you get loads of veiws

  • good video instruction

  • I already bought mine with 4GB, so no need for me to upgrade. Good tut though

  • You can put up to 6gb of ram its been proven

  • Theoretically it should even support 8gb, but the OS won't make use of all the memory
