I actually met the bass player back in January as he was heading to his gig in NY. It was just announced on that day that their "Contra" album hit #1 on Billboard. I gave him a nice congratulatory handshake. And he was very friendly.

Saw them live in New Orleans beginning of April, and it was the best concert Ive ever been to. They are a great live band, and personally I prefer the live versions of California English like this one and the one I saw to the recorded version. Just a little bit more energy in it live, and the part at 1:25 with just Ezra and the guitar is incredible.

It's actually not even auto-tune. It just corrects the pitch in which you are singing, but you need to hit a note first. like if you were to talk through it, it wouldn;t sound like anything, this effect requires actually singing to work, you have to hit the note, then it levels it off.

this song and taxi cab were just on myspace with the album versions on there myspace for about 5 minutes and were then taken off...and i didn't get a chance to listen to taxi cab! but the califonia english studio version is cool...its got string instruments at the end like in there first cd and has less guitar then you would think by listening to this song live...i guess maybe it is just cuz the drums are loud live so you can't tell the true sound
