Who remembers 1961 Hurricane Donna, The Ocean and Bay met. A man rowed down my block, Michigan St, with the bowling alley on the corner of Beech St. In a Kayak.
I grew up in Long Beach and sometime in the late 1950s there was a hurricane and the ocean met the bay. We were bailing water out of our downstairs apartment. There have been quite a few serious hurricane on Long Island but I think the most serious was in 1938 (before my time). There is historic footage if you google 1938 east coast hurricane.
Rains this much in Florida on a daily basis during monsoon season..

@LongBeachNY11561 Buy a boat, because if you guys get a hurricane you're going to be about ten feet under water.
