1Tim 2 is an essential to this topic. do we read it literally? worth thinking about. As for me, the fact that God created woman to be man's helper, to compliment him, only means to me that woman is in some ways more sensitive than man, to what is good and bad etc...

so when it is said "I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man" I read it as saying that women should not control men, not be master over them just as men should not rule over their wives but love them

It is obvious that worldly Christians don't like to hear this. What is wrong with embracing being a woman and letting our men lead? Obviously we women are under the curse and desire the position of a man...Genesis. But, as a Christian, we can overcome that. Keep on preaching the Truth, Dr. Piper.

@jas7saved you refer to 'embracing being a woman', but whats at issue here is what 'being a woman' is, and just like being a man, it ultimately as a Christian comes down to being a child of God

Also, as @GrandeDame has mentioned, letting the men lead does not preclude a woman from leading. Submission is NOT authority, and does not give men superiority. In fact I'd say submission is knowing how to pull your man away from something you know hurts what God wants for him.

Man ,as image and reflection of GOD's GLORY has a position of authority whether in the church ,in the family or in public. The husband and the preacher are given the same authority by Christ. Christ always gives HIS authority to MEN as He is their head.

You always submit to an authority ! wives to husbands ,children to parents ,servants to masters . And submission implies obediance and highest respect . Sarah called her husband "lord".

It seems that modern "christian" women look more like Eve than the holy women of the past.

This guy needs to study his Bible. God equips the call, regardless of gender. My calling as a pastor has little to do with my husbands gifting as craftmen. I as summissive to him as a wife, but I can still do my own job and lead a church. Leadership is a gift from God, not a from man.

@rwcshaka Actually, God tells us to submit to other believers, too, in love. For instance, if you serve with someone who is a "turkey" at church, it is God's design to submit to their leadership on the project - trusting God's choice to have that person in their position. God see's everything. It really works! :-)

Ephesians 5:21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.

This also fixes the "too many chiefs" problem.

@dudeokdude I believe that our instruction is to submit to the elders of the church, not just any "turkey". We are called to examine our leaders and hold them to a higher standard. That higher standard that is talked about is them turning themselves into servants and submitting themselves back to their followers like Christ did for the church. This is the beauty of Christianity, their is accountability, not questioned dictatorship.

This verse has been twisted to fit the "mutual submission" lie within marriage.

A wife is to submit to her husband .Period. Submission is one way.

What "submitting to one another" means is wives submitting to husbands ,children to parents , servants to masters .

Do parents have to submit to children ? do masters have to submit to their servants ?

What is that nonsense which is being preached in modern churches ?
