a lot of the palm oil is used to make fuel for cars and airplanes....supposedly a clean alternative to gasoline which is in short supply....so we sacrifice a forest for jet setting crowd who don't know or care about the damage they do to the environment of far away places.

I agree, there should be severe penalties on crimes like this. Illegal lumberjacks should be shot on sight, just like elephant hunters. Nature takes ages to heal.
