  • thank you so much i love your videos they are so simple and ur so great at explaining!YOUR MAKING MY DREAM COME TRUE! God Bless you!!!!!!

  • terrible instructions instead of saying "put it here" "this finger" "like this" just say the goddamn string, fret, and index/middle/ring finger.

  • @LycrisGirl just continue practicing.. im only 11 but i can do it :)

  • Hey paul mccartney thanks for the video. Ur tutorial had something special in it coz when I saw the other tutorials about G chords, I sucked but after watching u, my G chord got better. How is Ringo btw?

  • yes i'm 11 too

  • Hey Tom .. do u know you look like paul mccartney ? xD

  • expert village is usually useless, but this is a very helpfull video, thanks!

  • i cant get my finger to press down hard enough it wont sound right :(

  • omg i cant get my finger on the high e string SOMEONE HELP ME y is it soooo hard

  • thanks alot. i'm just learning and it helped me oy tons. thanks tom. =)

  • i swear to God, I thought he was going to say "Make sure your fingers bleed" at 1:16

  • you should show close up what you are taking about

  • The G chord is extremely hard for me. I play piano, and am not used to bending my fingers that way. I do well with the second and third fingers, but then once I place the fourth finger down, the other strings buzz. It is extremely annoying and I can't fix it.

    Somebody help?

  • what if you're left handed?? do you buy a special guitar and if there is a guitar for lefties what are the differences???? please someone explain =) :)

  • @AnnieSweetGirl My sister is left handed too, all you have to do is buy left handed strings, then you simply string the guitar the opposite way than usual and flip the guitar, basically to right handed people it will look as if its strung upside down, but for you it will be fine :D

  • This is hard for most people. But this is a really great time for you to learn this. Make it your regular way of playing a G and you will be so glad later! Keep playing, girl!

  • paul mcCartney look a like lol

  • Jesus! For a second i thought Paul Mccatrney was gonna teach me to play C chord! Oh what a cruel world...

  • @kittycat123e It's G chord :)) and i thought too it's paul mccatrney

  • rocky mccartney

  • Turn off CC noobs <.<

  • Guys... if that was Paul McCartney there would be a few more hits ;D

  • Dude!!!! That's Paul McCartney!

  • @PrettyRecklessCoco that what i though

  • If you see the words on the screen its because you need to turn off the "CC" If you do that they will go away

  • @hockeyplay2

    I love you! lol

  • NO this one is confusing that aint how i play my g

  • THX SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH TOM!!!

  • GEE THANKS FOR SHOWING ME HOW TO DO THE G CHORD OH WAIT YOU'RE BLOCKED BY HUGE WALL OF USELESS TEXT

  • the words on the screen are very annoying, i would rather see you do the chord and read about it under the video, or as subtitles, then read them all over the screen

  • holy shit paul mccartney! D:

  • tnx

  • Im a beginer so when U play it will hurt ur fingers becuse my uncle is a prefeshinal gutar player he he said u need caluses to play with out ur fingers hurting

  • Im just now learning how to play and Im doing everything he's doing and my guitar is tuned and the sound just wont come out like his does. I have small hands, could that have anything to do with it?

  • @kawaiikaruson try making the shape of the chord and plucking each string 1 by 1

if a string sounds bad, adjust your fingers entill it sounds right, do this for all the strings

then ithink it should sound better :')

or it might be your guitar is slightly damaged in a way?

  • some people play this without the pinky on the 6th string, why?

  • Haha I'm 11 so I use different fingers to reach all the chords but your videos do help, thanks!

  • isnt this Gmajor?

  • Gosh, I've looked everywhere and can't find the other chords. I've found A-G including little m's, big M's, 7's, and deminishes, but NOBODY seems to have H-Z

  • whenever i do chords or do any note i get this wierd sound anyone know a video i should go to or any advice please?

  • good video. i just wish it was better quality

  • its hard having short finger or small hands iam 11 years :(

  • @LycrisGirl That happens a lot to me :)

  • @LycrisGirl i feel ur pain im older but i hav short fingers :(

  • @LycrisGirl Hehe yeah. I'm no 11 years old, but got small finger, it's hell :P.

  • @LycrisGirl me too im learing and its hard

  • @LycrisGirl yea I'm 11 too..and it's harder but I finally got it ;)

  • @LycrisGirl Me too, that's why I got the 3/4 guitar, for beginners with small hands

  • @LycrisGirl i feel your pain and im 15

  • hmm thats strange i use only 2 fingers for the "G" chord but still get the same sound

  • Dude, I have the same ovation as you! =]

  • This guy is misnumbering his own fingers and among other things. The chord is not confusing, he is.

  • i am getting so frustrated! i cant get my fingers to stop touching other strings no matter what i do! im keeping my fingers straight and pressing down hard! nothing works!

  • frustration is makin you touch the other strings. relax and just keep practicing

  • @TheBasicsOnBeauty I know!! same with me :K

  • @TheBasicsOnBeauty You need to adjust your wrist and curl your fingers more, keep your fingers curled high so only your fingertips press down on the strings, do not keep your fingers flat or you will touch the other strings. This may seem awkward at first but you will soon get used to it just keep practising. Just noticed this post is 3 months old, how are you going now ?

  • This video is really cute.

  • the vid was confusin. i understood where to put the 1st 2 fingers on the strings, but not the last 2. he didnt even say what strings 2 use.

  • aww i thought the G chord is played by placing the 2nd finger on the low E string 3rd fret and 3rd finger on high E string 3rd fret. Is this right?

  • it was nice , i was trying to learn it for long time

    thnx

  • is his pinky on the bottom string and ring next string up?

  • it was really confusing cuz i learned a way that makes this seem backwards

  • HOW DO YOU PLAY THE "A" CHORD!!

  • I dont have the money for an electronic tuner. Is there anywhere accurate I can go to online??

  • @xpapercliche

there are a few i think i know my friend uses 1 privet message me and ill give it to u :) Also i just tune mine with harmonics most of the time

  • Urgh, I put my fingers in the exact positions and I strum, but my guitar makes a kinda different sound than yours. Is it tuned wrong or.. ? :(

  • tune or press harder

  • Yeah, it might need tuning.. thanks for the advice

  • dude brush your hair seriosly

  • isnt that paulie mccartney???! xD

  • Yo didnt really help me to be fair,is your stel stringed or what?

  • I jst got my 1st guitar. Gosh, tough to fret, im fretting :) the buzzing sound is happening instead of a clear strum. anyway, 5 stars man! thanks, CHANEL

  • press harder for a clearer sound. your fingers will hurt at first

  • Thanks :-) happy hallow!!! ~ chanel

  • lol you are funny

  • lol

  • C'mon I Cant Play that note.But Still u are too good.

  • hmm....dosent sound exacly the same for me :(

  • maybe ur guitar needs tuned

  • what kind of guitar is he playing?

  • looks kind of like an Ovation

  • I can't play any chords at all - they're so difficult

  • Ah, typical Expert Village factual inaccuracies and complete confusion. The index finger is the *first* finger in guitar terminology, not the second as the presenter says (that's piano terminology). And how exactly is the G chord the "chord that the other chords all revolve around", except in the key of G major?

  • This is a n excellent video but I need to know what the letter of each string is called because i am trying to tune my accoustic guitar and it has a built in tuner but it doesn't help me if I don't know what the letter of the first string is supposed to be can you help me?

  • wow... E

  • E D G B C A

  • No, the order of strings on a guitar go: EADGBE

  • it goes e g d a b e ( thivkest string to smallest)

  • the top string is e then under that is a then d then g then b then e :)

  • too easy, I hope

  • when I took guitar 1 in college, my teacher (and the book we used - Alfred's Basic Guitar Method) showed the G chord as: pinky finger on 3rd fret of high E string (bottom or 1st string)

ring finger on 3rd fret on low E (top or 6th string)

middle finger on 2nd fret on A (5th string).

  • my fingers are not elongated enuff.... lol...

  • I used to have the same model of guitar. Ovations sound great.

  • my stupid guitar isnt strummed but anyway thx so much im very beginner and need someone to derect me on where me fingers go for all the chords

  • thanks man. ive got this guitar chord book. and it has g major, g minor, g7, but no plain old g, wtf???

  • g major is normal g

  • ohhhhhh. watever dont think im a dumbass im a verrrrrrrrrrry beginner at the guitar.

  • i wasnt calling you anything, i was pointing out somthing you didnt know, sorry if i made it sound offencive ;)

  • i cant play this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why does it look like his only has 4 strings...?

  • Because B and E are the thinnest strings, so sometimes it looks like they're not there.

  • cool video.

  • thanks!!

  • thanks man! nice guitar too.

  • thanks a bunch. i now know 2 chords- e and g

  • hey Tom

  • he's really helpful .. atlist i know 2 chords now lol :)

  • This was a very helpful video. Thank you. :)

  • I really love your explaination...althoguh you don't smile much.

  • who cares..

  • yeah, really dude, who honestly cares?

  • This is in answer to those people who are experiencing fret buzz. Guitars very considerably in quality, and how well they were 'setup', either from the factory, the music store, or from where ever you bought it. Setup involves making sure the neck is straight, the frets are level, the intonation is tempered, and the action is setup. Also, the nut (where the strings pass through at the top of the neck) should be neither too tight or too loose. All of these factors affect the sound and play.

  • You are great sir, thats a ton

  • can u do a video on how to hold a G Sharp?

  • thats a G2

  • Throw in an Em and you've got most of About a Girl by Nirvana.

  • DIE LITTLE FINGER DIE!!!

fuck sake i can't get it right

  • Shake hands buddy, we are experincing the same thing.

  • ahh wat is wrong with my pinky!!!! it makes me so fustrated!!! no wonder why rockstars bang the guitar at the end of the concerts!!!

  • i had that same problem, it goes numb after a while lol - how are you coming along now?? been 2 months since did you pick it up ok?

  • Man what I would do to have u as my guitar teacher!

  • ok, if i press ard on the 2 skinny strings( sorry im drawing a blank on the names) it like , kills my fingers, but if i dont i buzz. any tips?

  • idiot doesnt even give the chord names.

  • ha one of the hardest chords to play, other than some bar chords and trying to get all strings to ring right.

  • man i can't figure out why my guitar sounds so weird. i am pretty sure that i have all my fingers right..........

  • i cant fucking do it... ill never learn

  • Don't worry bro, I'm the same. :)

  • it just makes me so mad tho

  • Same. The pinky is the worst freaking finger.

  • I know!!! im 12 and my hands are small to so that dont help that much -_-

  • Yes, but it helps if you flex your fingers. use a stress ball to make your fingers stronger by pressing into the ball. The pinky can be especially hard to control as it is weak.

  • why should you learn how to play this?

  • Since chords are guitar basics, you need to learn these to become better at guitar.

All shredders need to begin somewhere.

  • thnx!!

  • thanks!

  • Fuckin incredible i wonder if he can play a d chord too

  • lol

  • grrr im still getting a buzzing sound. it doesnt sound good:[ please help me!!

  • Be sure that your fingers are not touching the metal frets and that your fingers are firmly pressing the strings. Practice hard. Don't worry if after all that you still hear the buzzing sounds (by the way, that's called fret buzz). You're finger tips are still soft. Wait until you develop those hard calluses.

  • thank u! i was buzzing so much

  • im wit luckynumberace i was pretty confsed about the finger setup. if there wasnt any visual id be playin a real ugly chord thinking it was a G

  • thanks

  • ya.lol unless you're jimi hendrix, dont consider your thumb a guitar finger.

  • hey can you tell me how to play G#m???

  • g sharp minor is easy if you can read tabs it would be

    E 3

    B 3

    G 3

    D 5

    A 5

    E 3
