  • It was amazing video.

  • I love the video. There's melancholic seriousness as well as humor. Only, I hate the video maker's inculcation of things such as depression and suicide. The song, really, isn't about giving up, but instead, it is about finding a new hope.

  • @mirandaishotness He clearly commits suicide. Don't know what lyrics you are reading.

  • @mirandaishotness And sonata arctica even said that it is one of their most tragic songs.

  • @caldera11 You haven't understood the lyrics, man. He did sink deep into the ocean but he did not commit suicide. Tony never write such negative lyrics as you presume. This song is about a tragic shipwreck and not a suicide. Tony wrote this for the listeners to not lose hope even when caught up in a detrimental situation. He wouldn't write the prayer as a post-script if it was really a suicidal song.

  • Is the song about suicide?

By the way... GREAT video ! Really nice and varied ! :)

  • @Merandril

The song is about a man who leaves his lighthouse on New Years Eve, having hardly ever left it to go into town, especially for something like taking part in a celebration. He meets a woman there, and he falls in love with her. She explains how she is departing on a boat next night, and promises to return to him. When returning to his lighthouse in the morning, he is attacked by an assailant, and blacks out. He awakes after many hours, the next night, and realizes the lighthouse...

  • @Merandril

isn't burning, so he quickly runs back to the lighthouse. He realizes soon enough that a boat in fact had crashed because of the lack of light. He goes to court because he seems to be at fault. The woman he loved had died, along with everyone aboard the ship. While there, it is determined that the woman had a man he was betrothed to, and he had attacked the lighthouse keeper. He is released and the assailant is imprisoned. He runs back to his lighthouse, seemingly crushed, and...

  • @Merandril

broods over the woman's death, and can't believe that he could have been so careless and could have stayed there and saved her. In the end, he jumps off of his lighthouse into the sea in order to bring his own life to an end, not being able to come to terms with what he had done. In my video, I sort of added an underwater shipwreck at the end to symbolize him sinking into the water and knowing he is ending up where she ended up as well.

  • @caldera11 Or maybe I was wrong, but mark my words: Tony Kakko does not want his fans, as well as his haters, to commit suicide, and that's for sure. Why believe and fight for such negative things? It's wonderful to be alive, it's beautiful to live a life.

  • @mirandaishotness just because he writes a song about a tragic downfall does not mean that all his listeners are being encouraged to commit suicide. I didn't kill myself after reading hamlet...

  • @caldera11 What I mean was that, the video maker should have not emphasized such words as depression and suicide. It has a great impact to the viewers of the video especially the young ones without the capacity, yet, to understand such things. But I am not against SA, and how Tony writes blamelessly.

  • @mirandaishotness Well, I am the video maker...this is my other youtube account. But anyways, it was for a school project, and that was my interpretation of it, there are of course other interpretations, but from what I had heard SA say about the song, this is what I made of it. Tragic downfall=instant marks for an english presentation...so keep that in mind.

  • @mirandaishotness commiting his body to the deep until she gives up her dead im pretty sure he killed himself

  • This is the video's author btw...different account fail.

  • I love it that when tony sings "back in my tower, run run run" you put Tony running around in Wolf & Raven <3

  • this song is just god

  • the best fanmade video I've ever seen before... simply amazing!

  • @santothegreat111 Thanks!

  • Wow, I couldn't stop watching it! Such an amazingly made video.

  • Wow it's a very good lyrics:)

    you've done a professional job:)

and the pictures and the style...huh......IT'S GOOD MAAN:)BEST OF THE BESTS:):):):)

    RESPECT:R

  • @bakistar15 thanks, I tried

I thought the lyrics to this song would do very well in video form.

  • Oh yeah. I also liked the touch of adding a clip from another Sonata Arctica song (Flag in the Ground) in there.

  • Pretty good clips and pictures to match the moods and settings of the song.

  • pretty good video!

  • You messed up the lyrics a bit, but nice over all.

  • Wow, you've done a great job! I've heard that song a thousand times before (my favourite Sonata Arctica Song) ...though I've read the lyrics too, only your video made completely clear, what a fascinating, sad story that is ... thanks!

  • I like the video a lot and think you had a lot of interesting ideas for many of the videos that coincide with the lyrics. Great job! I especially like the clip of the guy standing on the cliff at "one step will bring me back inside, another sees my end"

  • me fascino0 tu video0, gran manera de subtitular

  • @TheKuzki thanks!

  • Great video, looks like you put a lot of time and effort into it.

  • cool, why does this video not have more views?

  • @Ueberlegsdir2mal it is actually receiving much more lately...over 100 in the past week i believe.

  • @caldera11 I'd suggest changing the main picture on the video from the Titanic to something else, perhaps the image at 5:28. I was a bit dubious to watch this video thinking it was all clips from the Titanic. Hopefully that would boost your views because you deserve them!

  • HOLY MOTHER**** **** dude awsome work i love what you did with it i wana see more sonata arctica songs from you dude like peacemaker or fullmoon

  • Great! You've really worked on this!

  • One of the saddest songs I've ever heard

  • @thelivingbrain123 Yes, but it's a great song, too.

  • @ihavequadrophenia Lol I didn't mean "sad" in the bad way. But yeah this is a good song, one of my favorites.

  • @thelivingbrain123 The way I look at it, some of the best songs are sad or tragic. I also read a few reviews of this song somewhere (a few interpretations, if you will), and basically, the story of the song is indeed a tragic one.

Either way, you were right. Finnish power metal FTW!

  • It's a masterpiece..and ur video is really good..I liked the "I never had a chance to stop what hit me" part xD

  • @mardneus Was the lyric syncing good or bad?

  • @caldera11 I think it's all awesome..but I'm not so practised out in these things =)

  • @mardneus well essentially I'm just wondering whether it would have been better simple subtitles or if the syncing actually adds to the video.

  • @caldera11 I think you ve done a good job..just sometimes lyrics are too fast =)

  • @caldera11 As much as I liked the video, I would have preferred simple subtitles. The syncing probably took a lot of effort. Though timed well with the actual lyrics, it was difficult to follow because of the speed of the song

  • @means83 read description if you want easy-to-read lyrics.

  • Very nice video... with parts of "Flag in the Ground" Lord of the Rings.... Very. very nice!!!

  • Very nicely done. I like it.

  • @Dioxide45 thanks! Made it for a project at school

  • @caldera11 Well, I hope you got an A for it.
