Excellent, excellent video. Everybody should see this so they can see the rotation of the clouds. "Rotation" is such a common phrase thrown around that most people don't even listen to it. Those not in areas that have a good long distance view outside their homes should see this so they can tell what a tornadic storm looks like. If they see swirling clouds - TAKE COVER
I live in Fairmont where we got that same storm that you had. The Tornado sirens wnet off here but only for 5 minuets so it gained stregnth while it left Martin County.
woah!! i was just at dentist appointment about an hour ago in downtown minneapolis and a huge funnel cloud was over the state capital building. IT WAS AWESOME!!and i live in northern southwashington county and we are undergoing some tornado warning thing its soooooo kewl!!!:)
tornadoes tend to gravitate towards, churches, mobile homes, and baseball fields. i can only recall a few baseball field tornadoes on here. kinda creepy. great video.
First of all... to the people that say we should have been wiped out... Fuck off, seriously?... anyways... like the retard I am I went outside when the sirens went off and me and my friend saw a tornado start and we darted inside... I never actually heard if anyone was hurt... I hope not..
Ok, I live in central Oklahoma, one of the worst fronts in "Tornado Alley", and even I have to admire the massive circulation on that thing. Pretty impressive that all these people on Youtube stuck around to film.
this was filmed near one of the sirens, but we have several of them all around the town, i remember watching the tornados that night, the sound of the sirens going off is really creepy
he added the sirens so block out regular audio of people cursing. Sirens are fake. But I mean if the Tornado Siren was right next to you yeah it could be that loud...probably louder. Usually most towns have a tower with a siren on it. Sirens are meant for people outdoors, most cities have them set up so most of it is covered with multi sirens
FYI people, there ARE multiple sirens in this town. The filmer was just kind enough to save us from all the inevitable talking in the background. Unfortunately, the sirens were NOT going off the whole time, which caused a lot of confusion around town. Great time to pull in the new system, Austin...
Live in Grand Forks, from Rochester. My friend lives in Austin. Glad to hear nobody was severely injured, some unfortunate guy was in a shed when it tipped over. Too bad about the ball park. I wish I was in Minnesota to help you guys pick up.
The tornado sirens in this video were dubbed in... listen at 0:57 the video switches/shifts but the tornado siren continues to wind up. Then at right 1:28 you can hear two siren dubs, the first one down winding and it cuts off instead of dying out like the real sound of this type of siren would be.
I live in Mounds View, Mn and didn't hear about the tornado until today watching the news... Though saw an awesome electrical storm, but man, we may get some of that real nastiness tonight. Good luck, to my fellow Minnesotans!
Yup theres my town. i was standing on my deck and in our backyard was a funnel and it was about halfway to the ground but thankfuly went back up. My friends live near the Murphys creek area and the tornado ripped right threw there.
Lucky the tornado sirens were working at that time. There were sirens that didn't work due to flood damage just north of the Twin Cities during the Hugo tornado. This is just a lesson that people should not always depend on sirens. A weather radio would be helpful since sirens were intended to warn people outdoors.
My God ..!! I live in maple view and y saw when the tornado started to form,i felt so scared i got so fast my babys and hide in the bathdroom, and we felt the doors wants to open so bad, speciallly when the stone ice coming was so crazy time ...!!!
Nice video, hope all is well down there, sounds like were in for it again today. One heck of a light show up here in the cities last night. About a half inch of rain, not too much for wind though.
My house was hit by it. but i have my blackberry storm.(what a werid name for a phone??) I live in the richer part of Austin and we got hit hard!!! We were like crying and stuff,. My dog died!! :((( i WISH Our house was nearly damaged its a 5million dollar house. not to brag but i was built were well!!! from my dad.
We were doing a performance at Riverland and durring it, ourlights start flickering then our director came in and stopped the show and we had to go seek shelter in the college...
Wow. Thanks for posting that. I was at work when it hit. I didn't get a chance to see it, but I had heard plenty of stories while we were seeking shelter. I'm glad I got to see that monster of a storm. It's a good thing no one was seriously injured. Thanks again^^.
Because we have a lot of 20 year old baseball players talking like they talk, and we felt it would not be appropriate . This was the best and most realistic audio substitute
So because I'm curious, why didn't you leave the sound from the video on there and do an overlay of tornado sirens? (there is no talking, no wind, nothing except for the siren). great video though :) just would be better if we could hear it too.
When they said NW area, my whole families faces went pale, but then the tornado only hit the east side!

reason why their using the attack signal because it could be less load on the motor of the siren and they can run it longer.just a guess
