Call of Duty + United Offensive (expansion pack), Call of Duty 2 (to a degree) and Call of Duty 4 were the best games in the series. They were just so original back then, but now look at CoD today; they're just video game versions of Michael Bay films. I would never have imagined CoD becoming what it is today; an overhyped, watered-down, recycled piece of crap when the previous games always made major improvements after each release. Also, where did the Band of Brothers-style feeling go off to?

it's hard to explain why, but COD4 just has this "atmosphere" about it. I remember playing with heavy metal and 8 cans of lager to this game... and beasting it. MW2 was cool, but kinda arcade/nooby. BO is way off and W@W is inbetween. I reckon MW3 will be the ultimate.

I have it on PC and it's still very popular there. From what i've heard CoD4 is also still on the top 20 list of most played games on Xbox Live, even more popular then Bad Company 2 on the platform. Not sure about PS3 but i imagine there's many people playing it still :)

it looks just as good, but i found the gameplay for mw2 to be a lot more intriguing and fun. cod4 is great, but mw2 just felt so much better to play, it was more action packed, more entertaining, and i guess the story was better, i don't know, i've never been to into the story lines for either modern warfare games.
