I'm venturing in to raw foods. However, I'm wondering why so many refer to some of the ingredients as "meat". I don't want raw processed food with all the mechanics of making it something elese.
Girlfriend, I live in Texas. This "meat" mixture was missing a seeded chili or some chili powder! Also, I have some stomach issues, and eating too many nuts can be unsettling. Are most raw diets nut based? I like going partially raw in the summer to save myself from the heat of the stove and oven, but often find that I just eat the veggies, fruits, and little portions of nuts straight from the market. Thanks.
Just made this dish. It was pretty good (even without tomatoes). The griddy-ness of the meat is the only thing I found "odd" but after a few bites, I got use to it. Well done!
Thank you for these videos they are great!! Every recipe of yours that i've tried have been super delicious and satisfying. I'm new to raw foods and i love the way you make it so easy!!!. Is your new book out now or is it coming out next month? I have your dessert book...you're the best!!! Since I've been raw, people have commented on how I "glow". Thanx again for your dedication to making raw eating fun and simple:):)
What is that interesting contraption? Next to the food processor, to the left, is some white container and in back it looks like the base of a high-speed blender!
I'm on day 2 of a 2 week raw food challenge to myself-- and your tacos are the 2nd recipe I tried. The first was bad-- this is delicious! thank goodness, because if it hadn't been, I would have had a tofu sandwich whipped up in 5 seconds! Thanks for your imagination!
Aloha Ani......I noticed that in certain videos, when you refer to the nuts or seeds you use in the recipe as being soaked and dried or soaked, dried and sprouted. Would I safely assume that in every recipe you use nuts in, that they are soaked? In the case if the taco meat recipe....are the almonds soaked? Thank you so much for sharing all of your healthy and creative recipes in a forum like this. It helps for the beginners in raw food to actually prepare these foods right away.
@VitaminD8 yes, all nuts and seeds should ideally always be soaked first. this recipe works best with dry nuts. so if soaked, make sure they are dry first via dehydrator or sunshine.
Of all your cheeze recipes, cashew cheese always comes out the best and tastes almost identical to to dairy cheese. I don't use any other nut for cheeze. Thanks for the recipe. I love your uncookbooks Ani!
For those of you wondering if these are really good, They're delicious! Well seasoned taco "meat" tastes more than familiar (u won't ask "where's the beef") and the texture is wonderful!. I'm going to make dehydrated corn tortillas to eat with them tonight with guacomole.
Hi Ani...what kind of food processor is that? Is there one that you would recommend? I'm just starting out and would like to slowly build my raw kitchen. Thanks!
they probably needed to get the video down to a specific amount of time for TV, and I trust they did their best, especially since this aired on television. but i hear you....

Cashews are too expensive. What is a good cheap alternative? peanuts?

Ani, what are your thoguths on Miso Mayonaise products? I love sour cream on my tacos and wonder what I could sub for that.
Thanks!
vinodea 2 years ago
@vinodea so easy to make a mayo. just blend miso, if you like, with cashews and lemon juice to make your own vegan fresh sour cream!

@Haitianbeauty36 any food processor is fine. they vary in price. but go for at least 7 cups in size so you can make double batches at once

This video did not help me at all. It skips alot.I think their trying to cut out parts that are not needed but it's really bad editing.

@iscavengersam : I think it skips so it's probably more of a tech issue.
