it only costs money if you want the PRO version. the pro version offers you more features, such as particle effects and more sprite editing. I think its aroung 20 dollars. but if you only want this for sprite editing, I would not get the pro version.

make and object and make the object's sprite the sprite you made. the only thing s you can put into a room are backgrounds, tiles, views, and objects. not sprites.
