  • Is the Virtual box fault or does not Windows 8 support wide-screen resolution? My edition of the customer preview (installed using virtual box) can't use any wide-screen resolutions, it suck :S

Anyone know how to configure this so it actually works (with a wide-screen res.)?

  • is there a way to get a virtual machine type thing for free?

  • @mynameisrandom911 Virtual Box is a free virtual machine. Checkout the link to download in the description of this video.

  • So once I install this it has the full capabilities of Windows 8 or is just a look around and see what it is like version?

  • @akamanonthemoon It's a developer's build; meaning it's for programmers.

  • Can someone tell me is there a rather simple way to remove it if it starts messing up? And do the other users on the computer see the same launcher or is it just on one?

  • VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration has been enabled, but is not operational. Your 64-bit guest will fail to detect a 64-bit CPU and will not be able to boot.

Please ensure that you have enabled VT-x/AMD-V properly in the BIOS of your host computer.

  • VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it.

  • @nefz117 it actually is meant for slates. Right now, there is the Samsung Series 7 and Asus eee ep121 and Asus eee b121. They support this, but sometime near the end of the year, micorsoft is going to release a big line of slates. Since these slates as a whole will make more sales than the iPad, since these slates will replace laptops, literally.

  • @bing0able Windows 8 pre-beta is Windows 7 based, so if you run it on top of Windows 7 you don't need any new drivers.

  • What is that cpu/memory monitoring gadget on your desktop?

  • Comment removed

  • Nice video, subscribed & liked :)

but what program did you use to disable desktop icons and to record this video? Because this video is very smooth

  • Comment removed

  • @nduchan1 To disable desktop icons, just right click on the desktop and go to view and uncheck the view desktop icons. Also, I just think it is his computer that is making the video so smooth. Looking at his cpu gadget run, his computer hardly breaks a sweat during the entire video and that's probly why the video quality is just so good, With a computer like his, any screen recording software would look smooth. He also has 8 cores presumably 2 different cpus, very high end.

  • It also keeps telling me to restart?

  • @o0BRADD0o did you find any thing to do?

  • It says I need to change to 32-bit but when I go into my graphics preferences it already says I am running 32-bit?

  • I have windows 7 64 bit , but for some reason , it isnt giving me the option to choose the same.

    Please help.

    Thanks.

  • I am having a bit of a problem. Windows 8 installed perfectly fine on my MacBook Pro 13", but Windows 8 is stretched inside the virtual machine and i have to keep scrolling up and down to see the entire screen. my screen resolution is 1240 x 800, but theres no setting for that.

  • What about the Guest Additions? did you have any luck with that?

  • @Andykiller525 Thats exactly what i get too! can someone please help?!

  • @Andykiller525 I managed to get fix this error by going into the bios on startup and enabling virtualization my VM works perfectly fine now only issue is i cant seem to get the right resolution (1600x900) because it doesn't detect my gfx card and reverts to the microsoft basic display driver :(

  • @dragoniteblood On the bios stuff you talk about ur NORMAL os, right? But do you talk about your normal os or win8 in virtual box on the resolution stuff?

  • @Andykiller525 Im talking about the resolution on win8, but i think its only because its a dev at the momment so microsoft aren't concerned too much with this aspect of the visualizations.

  • @dragoniteblood where do you go to to change enable virtualization?

  • @master233120 dude you gotta go into your bios at startup and then enable virtualization from there. Different process with different motherboards. You should google yours to find out how to exactly do it. if you can get into your bios then im sure you can find it quite easily (as long as your cpu supports virtualization)

  • @dragoniteblood Yeh, I found out later that my computer didn't support virtualization...

  • @dragoniteblood where do you go to to change enable virtualization?

  • it wont start for me when i click the 64 bit file im on a macbook pro help please

  • Please help, i try to run the start-up but this message pops up and i don't know what to do "VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration has been enabled, but is not operational. Your 64-bit guest will fail to detect a 64-bit CPU and will not be able to boot.

Please ensure that you have enabled VT-x/AMD-V properly in the BIOS of your host computer"

  • @Vasilevski2000 try gonig into your BIOS and enabling hardware acceleration

  • When I open this iso it says...

  • I dont have the Windows 7 64-bit option, why is this?

  • @MawDesigns you might be running on a 32-bit

  • LOL thanks for introducing VirtualBox for me

  • how will i uninstall windows 8 afterwards?

  • @kyogre504 Just delete the virtual machine and uninstall VirtualBox. Be sure to have it delete the Windows 8 .vid file so you get back your hard drive space.
