I really enjoyed the use of the winch rope and the broke linkage just like in a real "wheeling" situation. Great stuff and you could tell your son had the Jeep RC as he was pretty anxious to get up and over obstacles as they came along, but just a typical young boy..haha
It's a hobby man if you don't like it don't post. I race real quads and off-road a real f-250 with Swampers but I can see where this would be fun. Plus I know my kids would probably get a kick out of it too. Cool video dude!
@h8thelaw -That's odd. Unlike you, I can have sex regularly and still have time for many hobbies. In fact, my son loves to come with me and drive his truck too. It's nice time together, maybe something you missed with your dad making you carry all this hatred.
@mikesamc -The white jeep is an Axial AX-10 with scale shocks and chassis. The red Merc is all custom (TLT axles, 'pede transmission, custom chassis, etc).
Always so disappointed when I stumble upon these videos when I am watching Jeep vids. So sadness. Where was the tragedy? The tiny lil broken tie rod? I imagine that is a pretty quick fix.? Looked like it could be fixed with some wire and a solder gun. All the same, neat lil cars.. I guess if you cant have the real thing, pretending is cool too :S lol
@PenguinFury -Glad you liked the neat little cars in the end. Most 1:1 off road guys I know also have these scale trucks for when they're kicking it. It's not one or the other, but both. Personally I dont nor would off road 1:1-waste of time in my opinion. These little things are cheap to fix, wont leave you stranded and leaves me plenty of time for other, more meaningful things, like my kids. Pretending to be cool is lame. Not giving a shit is cool.
@BillysAutomotive -Thanks. Look into the Axial SCX10 products. They're quite good for the money and most people start with those as a basis for the more custom builds like these.
@jdmeg41 -depends on lots of things. YOu could start with a basic kit or ready-to-run rig from Axial (scx-10, honcho, scx-10tr) for a few hundred dollars. Then depending on how you upgrade or accessorize you could easily get up to 800 or more. For example, shock upgrades can be $40+ a set, aluminum beadlock wheels (as these have) run $125+ a set of 4. High end electronics can be $150+. But for $350 you could get in and have a blast with the scx10 honcho.
@9motofreak -Thanks. The whte jeep had Creatacrawler custom aluminum beadlock wheels. RPP Hobby sells that brand wheels now but those specific ones are no longer available.
the 'driver' in the jeep is the wrong scale...... looks like a child driving it, ... other then that, very cool models! and a great place to 'play' with them....
@danoincali831 -Jeep is on an Axial AX-10 with an X-Trail scale chassis. This was before the release of the SCX-10 which has a better scale chassis. The body is from an 1/8 scale toy grade RC made by Newbright, usually available at Target, Walmart, etc.
@shawnpg -And that was a SCALE 25 ft. Actual 25 ft vs the trucks scale of 1:10 means it fell HUNDREDS of scale feet, lol. Well, I did break my roof and a few other things too, lol.
You know that vid was surprising fun to watch. Im not really into RCs but i really got the feel that i was watching a couple of guys crawling. Great vid.

Any build video for the red one? Or a supply list? I try to do stuff like this with an old rustler which I know is no good, could I use the stock chassis and convert it to 4wd or am I stuck going custom?
@SubaruAnimeOtaku -I dont do build videos but may for future builds (like the F150 I am building now). its all custom and old school. Stampede transmission, traxxas driveshafts, Integy 55t motor, TLT axles, Nikko G55 toy grade RC body (cut to a soft top after crushing the top in a rollover). TLT shocks (at one time), Creatacrawler custom Aluminum Beadlock wheels, Cut-n-Shut comp tires, etc. Rustler has nothing of value for a scale build. Start with Axial RTR stuff.
@andogame -The red one isnt a kit. Its all custom. The white one started as an AX-10, then added x-trail scale chassis. Red: 55t integy motor, stampede transmission, TLT axles, Moped esc (very basic), Creatacrawler beadlocks, hand made tires (reduced 2.2 comp tires). White: Axial running gear, Sidewinder esc, Creatacrawler beadlocks, hand made tires (reduced 2.2 tires).
@thatkalikid21 -LOL, yeah, its really fun to drive them, and to build them from scratch. I love taking my kids out with me to drive. They have their own rigs I made them.
@alderaforall --well really its pretty bad azz when you think of it, these things take months sometimes to build from scratch, think of them as robots that you can control over rocks with a remote, they are just like the real thing if you drive them right, its a lot of fun when your stoned to build and drive them too!! LOL, you should try one!
how big are these haha it would seem fun if they were just about a quarter of the size lol but why are they so small haha cant you just like toss em onto the top of a pile of dirt and tadaa hillclimb haha just wonderin, or you can go get a real jeep and keep it real =]
@SoCalRider28 -these are about 18" long. Wheel base is between 10.5 to 12 on most. My crew cab toyota is 13" wheel base and 21" long or so.
Lots of guys that 'wheel full size also have these rc versions. Sometimes they make exact replicas of their full size. Lots of these guys wheel both sizes.
@dhruvvikram -the ax-10 has more travel, but more isnt necessarily better. Mine all have very little travel. thats why you see mine with a wheel in the air often.
I have no personal experience with them but from what I've heard and seen the AX-10 is a better crawler than the hpi. If you want scale though, dont get the ax-10, get the scx-10.
@pantablo-i guess you are right?i have asked tons of people and every one told me to buy the ax10 but there is something about hpi which still makes me want to buy?
@dhruvvikram -the AX-10 is newer technology and is a more capable crawler out of the box. You can comp with it as is (with better tires). The HPI needs more work to be competitive. It's more a fun basher. If thats all you want you may be happy with the HPI. A lot of it comes down to your expectations and how you'll use it.
@scarpino13 -These are custom made. You can start with a kit or a ready-to-run truck. Tamiya and Axial are two well known brands. Axial has many great rigs-SCX-10 kit, SCX-10 TR is the ready-to-run version, SCX-10 Honcho, etc...Expect about $300 for a ready to run Axial one.
That is some fancy 4 wheeling. I imagine this is great practice for guys who "spot" during real off roading. And THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for not putting in some crappy music to completely ruin the video.
@dreadjames1 -Very cool! Its a great spot, or a couple great spots. I usually film from the dirt lot up the trail to the big rock outcropping and general area, but this was filmed at a second spot farther up the trail. Really nice, but a bit small, area. You must be local too. I live about 15 minutes from there. We're heading up to Vasquez this weekend (I'll be there with a group sat., another group will be there sun.) at 10am if you're interested.
@janfloris -The g55 gwagon body was made by Nikko for a toy grade RC. Came in silver or black. Very nicely detailed body. They come up on ebay with some frequency so keep an eye out for them.
@duffyboby - jeep body came from a NewBright 1:10 scale rc toy. Underneath its an Axial AX-10 with X-Trail scale chassis. These days you can do better with an Axial SCX-10 but they weren't around back then.
Thanks tjrubicon053245. Both actually. These are built, as are most of mine, but you can buy very capable ones built now. Look at Axial's SCX-10 TR/Honcho TR for a ready to run rig. TR=Trail Ready (aka ready to run). They're a lot of fun!
Thanks patrick660. That's a common trick for these sized rigs as well. Actually people use BB's or wheel weights inside the wheel. Both of these have pretty significant weights in the wheels as is though. Its a tough balance because too much overall weight really stresses the little motors. The rig only weighs about 8lbs but 1lb of it is in the wheels, lol.
I do this in my ACTUAL truck. This is cool I guess but at least specify in the title that it's just radio controlled. Kind of a misleading title otherwise...
Thanks TheCheese909. It's going to take me forever to find it in my list though. I can't seem to edit it directly from the video page. I have to find it on my list. There's almost 200 videos. I'll get to it though.

That is some fancy 4 wheeling. I imagine this is great practice for guys who "spot" during real off roading. And THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for not putting in some crappy music to completely ruin the video.

Thanks nodave77. I agree on the music. I often use music but sometimes like it without, seems more serene.

dreadjames1 1 year ago
@dreadjames1 -Very cool! Its a great spot, or a couple great spots. I usually film from the dirt lot up the trail to the big rock outcropping and general area, but this was filmed at a second spot farther up the trail. Really nice, but a bit small, area. You must be local too. I live about 15 minutes from there. We're heading up to Vasquez this weekend (I'll be there with a group sat., another group will be there sun.) at 10am if you're interested.

Where did you get a RC Gelandewagen????
janfloris 1 year ago
@janfloris -The g55 gwagon body was made by Nikko for a toy grade RC. Came in silver or black. Very nicely detailed body. They come up on ebay with some frequency so keep an eye out for them.

Rather send $20-30 fixing that then spending couple hundred on real ones....although real ones are fun too lol...nice realism Bud
jaymzedge1 1 year ago
@jaymzedge1 -totally. Most fo the guys have 1:1 trucks too and always talk about how much cheaper it is to fix these, lol.
pantablo 1 year ago
@jaymzedge1 and a couple hundred is a "cheap" break. if you can afford it nothing beats the real thing though.
camaroman101 1 year ago
@camaroman101 I know thats right...nothing beats a good day of 'wheeling' when nothing breaks its a bonus...lol

what is the brand and model of the jk jeep
duffyboby 1 year ago
@duffyboby - jeep body came from a NewBright 1:10 scale rc toy. Underneath its an Axial AX-10 with X-Trail scale chassis. These days you can do better with an Axial SCX-10 but they weren't around back then.
pantablo 1 year ago
these are cool.. do you build them or buy them complete? i got a nitro ones but they suck for rock crawling like this and where did you get them?
tjrubicon053245 1 year ago
Thanks tjrubicon053245. Both actually. These are built, as are most of mine, but you can buy very capable ones built now. Look at Axial's SCX-10 TR/Honcho TR for a ready to run rig. TR=Trail Ready (aka ready to run). They're a lot of fun!

fill the tyres with lead shot or water for better ceter off gravity i do it with the real ones
patrick660 1 year ago
Thanks patrick660. That's a common trick for these sized rigs as well. Actually people use BB's or wheel weights inside the wheel. Both of these have pretty significant weights in the wheels as is though. Its a tough balance because too much overall weight really stresses the little motors. The rig only weighs about 8lbs but 1lb of it is in the wheels, lol.

I do this in my ACTUAL truck. This is cool I guess but at least specify in the title that it's just radio controlled. Kind of a misleading title otherwise...
Jawbone220 1 year ago
@Jawbone220 -Lots of these guys also do it in 'actual' trucks. This was done a long time ago. I've since started adding RC to the titles.
pantablo 1 year ago
@pantablo Yeah I mean, don't get me wrong it's a cool video and all =)
Jawbone220 1 year ago
@pantablo you can edit the title..
TheCheese909 1 year ago
Thanks TheCheese909. It's going to take me forever to find it in my list though. I can't seem to edit it directly from the video page. I have to find it on my list. There's almost 200 videos. I'll get to it though.
Thanks.
