  • I found a good fix, if you search ebay or google for optiplex 735 repair, you will find a 5 capacitor repair kit. $13 FREE SHIPPING! Pull out motherboard, replace the 5 caps and it should work. Same should work for searching e510 repair kit for instance.

  • To make this quick and easy, this guy is clearing the cmos using the jumper. That is all he does , thought some people would like to read this instead of watching for 7 min to find out all he is doing is clearing cmos. I have a optiplex 735 that blinks orange and clearing the cmos does not work for me. I need a new motherboard. I am not ripping this guy, I'm glad people are making vids trying to help people.

  • e510 looks just the same on the inside. also you don't have to wait that 15 or so secs for that light to go off. after youve unplugged it, just hold the power button and it'll kill the rest of that power

  • i have an xps 400 tried the same steps altough it was located on the lower right side.... it wanted to start up but then then died after a second. how can i get it to power on completely?? help is appreciated..!

  • @ajimenez009 unplug all usb ports. try again and wait. let it sit for half hour

  • I have a dimension e510

  • When i do this, will it disconnect my internet?

  • @MostDope57 no it will not disconnect your internet! your internet plug may have to be removed and then plugged back in. Its the one that looks like a phone cord.

  • @MostDope57 you can disconnect your internet. but doing this will not disconnect it automatic

  • You're an idiot.

  • you might have too much stuff plugged into wall or surge protector. You can only have so many things plugged in at once. Try unplugging something to lessen the surge. I believe it takes more power to turn on anything than it does to actualy run it. So if your using your tv ,radio ,or any other item that uses power , it may be just enough to cut out your pc? Im not 100% sure what your question was but thats what i think. Dell has a major problem with their power supply units. But you can bypass.

  • you have same tower. my tower start doing that after i add a new CPU fan. i thinking maybe i dont have power to run my tower but when i turn power up. little volt jump up or down from any thing knock out my tower. so now how do i fix that :(

  • @rwmtiger even the speakers on your pc can cause the pc to turn off if there are too many things running at once. Try shutting speakers off untill you find source of surge.

  • @therealjohnnyjohnson i just did a full yest on my computer. my old power box need to be replace. shutting thing off will not fix it. good news my motherboard is in good shape. i may look at motherboard 1 more time before i buy new power box. just make sure there no bad part. i recommend you do the same. it may help you too.

  • Scan. not yest. where i get that i have no idea :((

  • HWat mine has an orange light on inside?

  • I did all the steps by mine just continues flashing orange and dosnt turn green

  • @billbow100 Try it again, only this time disconnect the usb plugs and make sure your speakers are turned off. this will allow extra power to enter allowing pc to power up. let me know if it works.

  • @therealjohnnyjohnson I did it multiple times and made sure nothing was plugged in but it still didnt work :(

  • @billbow100 do you have similar model? Is the light blinking fast or slow? how long have you left it sitting after you follow these steps. where are you plugging in? You need a good power supply. you must not be impatient even if its been sitting for a while. You can buy a new power box for 40$ at best buy. or ebay for less.

  • i had the same problem and by searching on dell forums , i found out that the power supply doesn't have enough watts(by default it just comes with 305 watts) and it doesn't have suffiecient charge for my USB stuffs, so i bought 600W power supply and installed it,and u know what ? it just fired up like lovely lady at first shot !

  • @rocky0sucks what your saying might be true? But, not on all models because my dell had plenty of power it was just a faulty power suply box. but maybe your right because occasionaly i would unplug usb and leave power plug on and it would power up out of nowhere. Im not sure but they should of recalled this problem.

  • @therealjohnnyjohnson u can just buy power supply from ebay bro, i just bought it for $22(means if u want it)..:)

  • by the way, mine was dell dimention 5150, though new power suplly doesn't fit properly but it fixed the problem that i had to open my pc ,unplug usb's and mess up with motherboard..

  • Dells are so fucking pathetic now.

  • Yahoo..it worked for me in the first try...thanks so much..great video...but F1 floppy disk issue not big deal to setuo boot sequence..

  • make your own pc it's better than the one dell made lolz and could be cheaper

  • Thanks for that fix -tried it this morning and works perfectly.I've had this problem for the last few months.

  • **** you dell i hate dell pc now althought they're fast but so many problem's fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK you

  • hello i got the same problem.. the amber light at the power button and my computer not turning on.. so i tried the first two steps you said but what i see in my computer is that it doesnt have the green light the same as yours.. mine is still the orange light near the round battery.. so when i finished doing what you suggested in ur video mine still doesnt work.. help please..

  • this totally worked for me!!! cheers, although its seems i have to remove the green thing and put back in everytime i turn my computer off.on

  • what you gotta do is replace the power button ribbon there is a grey ribbon replace it i have a dell xps 400 and thats what worked for me i broke mine installin osx 86 or it might even be a little bit loose check it out

  • Thank you so much !!!! I did this and you made it so easy, now my computer works again !!!!!! YEAH

  • do you know that when it refuse to boot due to amber light, there's a light pattern when you hold the power button which is amber light. running diagnosis nothings happen but in windows, it happen again so the bios setting could be a culprit, remove the floppy diskette list in a bios could fix it if there's 2 and 3 amber pattern when u hold the power button while flashing amber

  • seems like computers are getting to be like tv's. I worked in a electronic repair shop for some years. Many of the new tv's are just not worth trying to fix. They are a poor design and I tell customers to drop them them off in the outside trash bin.

  • hmmm, I wonder what is the green things is? at 0:49

  • Thank you

  • @chaingunner4u did It work for you?????

  • After you unplug it from the wall, hold the power on button. It will drain the power held in the motherboard.

  • didn't work for me, I did exactly as you said :(

  • @CarlosJulio20 You must follow the steps properly and it will work

  • Listen you dont have to leave it on you just use this trick and it will never burn out!!! If you leave it running you will fry your pc after a while !I use to do the same as you!

  • as stupid as this video may seem it actually works. my power button kept flashing and would not turn on. i called dell and they wanted to charge $49.99 since my warranty expired. i did just like the video says and it works i was amazed. if u want to save money do this and it works, i dont turn my pc off i leave it on.
