  • man that's awesome, I'm thinking of crawdad fishing on the Snake. Live over here in Eastern, WA.

  • hey, nice haul!!

  • Holy moly. Nice work. Thanks.

  • beef liver in a package from wal mart works best, just poke holes in the package and throw it in there ive caught thousands...............but always remember never buy the meat u are going to eat at wal mart

  • joystick006 where did you go to get there im am really interested

  • From all accounts use fresh salmon or an oily fish in your trap. Contrary to popular belief, chicken and cat food are considered last on the Crayfish menu. Lake Washington in Seattle are is full of these tasty critters. Set your trap in an area where there are rocks, roots, or other cover where crays hide. Good luck and happy fishing!

  • the crayfish is most likely Pacifastacus (Hobbsastacus) gambelii....or

Pacifastacus leniusculus klamathensis.... hard to tell without good pic of top and underside..most likely Pacifastacus (Hobbsastacus) gambelii..

    wish i was there..

  • nice background music "Dead or Alive"

  • i set 7 traps in a river near my house using smoked haddock as bait set it over night, checked it today and caught just under 470

    nice and thanks

  • @kaTasteOfEngland Holy Mackeral !!!! very very nice an average of 67 per trap! What kind of traps did you use!?!? Maybe you should consider doing a video. I for one would enjoy watching it

  • @joystick006 i use 3 entrance umbrela traps i might make a video but i dont really make vids i more comment sorry

  • I'm in WA too and since the crabbing season will wrap up about two weeks before crayfish ends, I figured I'd give it a try. I have a couple questions -- what fish works best as bait, and how long do you soak the traps?

  • @anagama I usually use yellow perch just because they're easy to catch, depending on how many people are on the lake I will normally soak them overnight. I didn't have time to catch perch today so used chicken backs instead and did surprisingly well............ best o' luck to ya

  • @joystick006 Thank you for the info. This weekend I improvised, using my coonstripe shrimp pots, though I had to set them in upside down so the tunnels wouldn't be so high up. I'm not much into fishing, so I just bought a trout for bait. I tried three spots, one kind of shallow near reeds (just caught little bottom fish), one kind of deep (got nothing), and one near some reeds and rocks -- caught three! Now I just need to work on skills and tools, but at least I know they are there!

  • This video looks very informative. Thank you.

  • @silverspoon819 you're welcome

  • does anyone know any good bait to put in a trap for shiners i live in Florida and my cast net broke any suggestion would be nice

  • Thank you Sir.........Very informative.

  • I hear a song

  • what do you use for bait

  • That is nice catch in one trap! A slice of bacon is darn good bait too!

My favorite dish is crawfish eatoufee...I got great recepie I will share!

  • Thank you, this video and the one before it were exactly what I was looking for someone to show. Thanks Again!

  • @Tara697 Glad you enjoyed it!

  • what company did you say the traps were? nice float idea

  • Protoco, Willapa bay, Terry Bullard. The Bullard traps IMHO have the most bang for the buck

  • thanks for the answer. where did you buy the protoco and wilapa bay traps?

  • protoco from "white Elephant" in Spokane, Wa.

Willapa bay from "hooked on toys" in Wenatchee Wa.

  • if i can see little tiny wiggling bugs stuck to the outside of the crayfish, would it be bad to eat? even if it looks perfectly healthy otherwise?

and can you explain the dark/light bottoms for me please?

  • the bugs are some sort of parasite, I've cooked many crawdads with the "little wiggley bugs" on them, never had a prob. Not positive about the light/dark thing, I believe the dark ones are getting ready to molt, doesn't seem to effect the taste

  • what kinda fish do u use? i tried sunfish and got nothin. same thing with hot dogs

  • usually yellow perch (after filleting) you might try cans of fish flavored catfood, avoid the ones with gravy or sauce as they dissolve very quickly. just punch holes in the can and maybe open the top part way good luck

  • wat did u use as bait

  • fish

  • Excellent video series

    5 stars.

Many thanks for sharing these with us.

  • thanQ hope I was of some help

  • wow nice catch and awsome video. thanks.

  • where is the lake?

  • eastern slope of the Cascades, Wa. state.

  • can you eat any type of crawfish

  • not sure if ALL crawfish are edible these in the N.W. are but there are many types of crawdads and I imagine some aren't good to eat

  • well i got a few questions for ya, one what kindof bait do you use? ive heard just about everything from chicken to cat food but what bait do you think produces the most? and two where did you buy that first trap in this video the big square one?

  • Fresh fish......the big square trap is a protoco model #CT24 bought it at a White Elephant store in Spokane Wa.

  • and another questions is there any spot you look for to set your trap? like surrounding area or will the bait just draw them in?

  • rocky bottoms.... (did you watch "buggin' part one?)

  • Do you ever loose your traps?

  • Hey Dave The only traps I've lost has been to thieves, once or twice I've had to "grapple" for traps when power boats hit my floats but I got lucky and recovered them. Tight lines Another Dave
