  • I like how the only MAN there is the one most gentle on his horses mouth XD

  • very fit horses usually act like very fit horses:)

  • sheesh y r the horses not wanting to turn the one way and the handlers are letting the horse win

  • i am a thoroughbred and therefore you are insignificant peasent to me be gone while i show off for others

  • I am a thoroughbred and therefore must go sideways.

  • Mr Dumbledore... possibly my favourite name for a horse ever. x)

  • I don't think there is any bad horsemanship or handling involved, they are just very fit, excited horses who know that they are at a competition. I do agree that they should wear hats when running them though!

  • It looks like they were just taken off the trailer with no warm up and brought straight here. I also think something was spooking them not necessarily that the handlers don't know what they are doing.

  • They have a right to. Their whole life is filled with painful devices to make them look "Pretty"

  • Okay, no one gets first they all fail showmanship :)

  • Albus Dumbledore had a wife?

  • 0:32 "Oh i really was born an Arabian! Har de har de har!"

  • runners*

  • all of the runner should have been wearing hats.

  • handsome horses

  • oppisite buzz looking goarges as always lol

  • the are just scared if you look closly to the roof of the tribunes you can see that some part are coffert with a sail that is waving in the wind scaring the horses.

  • uuhhmm.. I think that it all lays in the persons who were "controlling" the horses.. I've only watched 3 of the 1st horses, but they all tried to get away from the blond girls.. So I don't think that the horses liked her.. So I won't say, that it's the horses who are behaving badly.. they just don't like her.. that's it..

  • @NightPressure one of those 'blond girls' is the queens grand daughter , i'd be careful what you say ;) it's a good point though !

  • All these horses are in charge of their handlers. Hahaha

  • Did anyone else notice they all had hissy fits at the end before the turned to trot back..

  • those horse were beautiful

  • i think that these horses had a little conversation the night before and were like "lets create havoc!!" and all decided to prance around and show off :)

  • They might not like doing it,they have enough of getting prepared etc. They are so beauty, they are animals and I love them.Let them be a horses :)

  • Not so much behaving badly,as "this is BOR-ing...when do we get to GO?!"

  • love black drum!! hes just like come onnnn keep up!!!! hes so handsome

  • glenbuck obviously didnt like that plant pot ! :)

  • The only time my horse acts like that is when she's stressed out...

  • hehehe, well i guess when they act like that they are sound :)

some of theses horses would be stupid fit so of course they are going to explode specially when its windy. they look like they are just letting off steam - and good on them for it. they are, after all, at the top of their game.

  • HAHAHA love them <3

  • Looks like there's something spooky..they dont look like they're misbehaving...

  • wow "hot" athletic horses + no ground work + lack of respect for their handlers = hilarity for us.

  • Hello! Do you see that these beautiful and attentive horses are bothered by something at the same place in each example? A couple of these excellent animals appear somewhat protective of their handler! It would be most likely that the sound(s) of those flag(s) and/or the canopy over the audience is being whipped provocatively by the wind.... horses are extremely alert to anything that is unknown or perceived as a threat, especially in an unfamiliar environment! Notice the flag above @ turn!

  • They need to discipline their horses more for bad behavior. It was apparent these horses were herd leaders... not the people handling them.

  • @xXxPoOkAxXx These nice horses are spooked by the effect of the wind on the flag(s) immediately above them! Check it out!! Try not to judge so quick! Animals are very alert and sensitive always!

  • @TheJbach I'm just judging by what was in the video. The heading on the video should be changed if it is horses spooking and not misbehaving.

  • The wind was causing the tarps of the tents the crowd was under to move. Thats why the horses were acting up.

  • pushy horses....a sound horse is a happy horse...these horses need to have ground manners before you go out and just show them..

  • @Love2knowIT Haha omg what is that supposed to mean? They look pretty sound to me. And those horses are so revved up by the crowd I don't blame them. My horse would do the same, he's a little thoroughbred off the track and used to all the hustle and bustle of crowds, but if I stuck him in the spot light he'd be three times as bad as those horses, but out of the spot light he'd be the chill looking dull 'quarter horse' of the group. Thats just how horses are, they know when they get to show off.

  • @Love2knowIT These are fit event horses and if you hadn't noticed it was very windy! When tb's are this fit they do get a little over excited! They're not pretty little show ponies who have to have impeccable manners. They are not at all pushy nor are they unsound.

  • lol at 2:15 ish when the horse knocks over the pot and then looks at it like, "how

    'd that happen?" :)

  • A number of these riders look as if they are scared of their horses on the ground. Shouldn't that ground relationship be a foundation for their riding? And shouldn't the horses have some ground manners without chains or bits? At this level, these horses shouldn't be spooked by show activity. It's not horses behaving badly. It's people poorly trained to communicate with their horses on the ground.

  • This was not a "judged" event. No judges to disappoint here. Vets are checking for soundness. It also looks like they are all spooking or reacting in the same spot, must be a "boogiddy boo" at the end of that path.

  • love how william waited, as if to say 'are you quite finished?' before he carried on trotting :)

  • @RiyarooChoo My horse has plenty of spirit, sometimes a little to much. When She bucks I stay on well, but it is not okay for her to decide that she can buck whenever she wants to. What if I took her to Devonwood for a 4th level dressage test, and she decided to buck. I don't care what my ribbons are, but I do care if she listened to me. My horse walks, trots, stops, with me. I love it when she has fun in the pasture with her buddies. I direct her spirit for more impulsion and better movement.

  • These horses need to learn how to yield to pressure.

  • @RiyarooChoo I agree on punishment and praise concept. I punish my horse when she doesn't listen, but I praise her when she is correct. My horse is very happy. I play games with her and I spend a lot of bonding time with her. I give her kisses and pets. I love her very much. She has a lot of freedom. Before people enforced that spooking and bucking was bad, she was almost unridable. When my instructor came to the stable she rode her for almost a year, now she is polite from punishment and praise

  • @RiyarooChoo Yeah right. Arabs are the crazy ones not warmbloods. Unruly should not be excepted from any breed of horse. If I were the judge I would be dissapointed.

  • Ok, they're highly trained, highly fit, highly fed horses who are out on what looks like a bit of a breezy day. They're feeling good and they've just got the wind up their bums. They're showing off, working off some oats. It should be expected with these horses.

  • @Apsenniel09 All of the horses except for Tamarillo deserve a smack in the chest or in the shoulder.

  • Maybe got back to the fundamentals of training...like ground manners? Tamarillo was probably the only one that wasn't "unruly" and just having some fun. The others, icky ground manners. I've known plenty of warmbloods that aren't like these guys. Its not the breed, its the trainer. WIth these guys, training under saddle is much more important than on the ground, or so the trainer thinks! ;)

  • I love how these horses are acting up because their riders couldn't give two shits about actually spending time with them. Ha, just kidding (sort of). They are beautiful though!

  • my god I've never seen so many unruley horses in hand!!

  • Whee! Go Tamarillo! Is he small, or is William just abnormally tall?

  • @hermythewormy both :D

  • Wow, the ladies wearing pumps were brave - if I had to trot up a lively eventer I'd be in steel toe capped boots!

I love that WFP's legs are actually the same length as Tamarillo's! ^_^

  • @Callipygiancharley You wouldn't want to wear steel toed boots. I know you are just joking but if you would seriously want to wear them then you would be risking crippling your foot. If the horse stepped on the toe it could make the steel cllapse and slice your toes off and crush part of your foot.

  • @jumanji321 This is an urban myth. Mythbusters busted this one. You can practically drive a car over your foot in steel toed boots, a horse's weight will not crush the toe.

  • i liked Mr. Dumbledore the best

  • love the video and the flute that is playing

  • the only thing I hate is that they jank the reigns to calm the horse down...would you calm down if someone punched you in the mouth?

But I can imagine they don't have the time there to take time to calm the horse in a proper way....it would really look good if they did take time to do it right....

  • it was probably a windy, cool day.

  • @ChevyDrivinCowgirl i don't see how that has anything to do with it?

  • @HazardousAmusement have you ever had a young horse out on a windy day? they get friggin hyper not to mention with the commotion of a show. my 8 year old still gets antsy on windy days.

  • @ChevyDrivinCowgirl i was talking about the cool part, probably should have added that to my comment lol

  • @HazardousAmusement oh lol.

  • @ChevyDrivinCowgirl Maybe you should work more out in the wind. When my horse spooks I one rein hault her and kick her but around.

  • Horses are just so fit and so tuned for the event. There would be a kind of 'charged' atmosphere for them also. Hard to keep a horse from getting a bit 'keyed' up by it. They just want to get on with the job.

  • I'd be so mad if my horse was doing this at a 4 star event in front of EVERYONE! and making me look bad.....

  • @horsiechicaroo16

They aren't exactly making them look bad, lol. I think all the people there actually feel some sort of sympathy for them because they understand how frustrating that can be. Also, I'd be feeling bad for the last lady because she was wearing flats with a horse who is really keyed up. No thank you!

  • They are beautiful animals! But I'd sooner ride a wild mustang than a hyper warmblood.

  • amazingly beautiful creatures full of life and ready to go - wonderful.

  • 2:44 - i love that horse :) hes like look at me yallllll :D im a cute horsey x) and 3:08 - hes probably thinking so when are we gonna compete huh huh? -paces- i wanna goo, lemme gooo. -trots off- and then he gets to the turn and he says no. I WANNA GO COMPETE!! Dx rider: okk, we will. but first we gotta do this! horse: i can run faster than youu lol xD sorry for my horse imitations :)

  • Hahaa I love how William Fox-Pitt makes Tamarillo look like a pony (:

    Love the bucks<3

  • @Pikapihh i agree!

    he is pretty bloomin tall!

  • I thought Black Drum was a very beautiful horse!! Even if he was a bit frisky ;-)

  • the 2nd horse on there is being perfect until the dum lady jerk its head around

  • hehe I love this its soo funny, its nice to see even the top horses enjoy a bit of high jinx!

  • wow its scary to think how many retarded comments are posted by aparrantly experienced horse owners. haha, tards xx

  • That was so awesome, hahaha. It REALLY makes me not feel so bad when my normally well behaved horses embarrass me at public events - it happens even to the best of us!

  • wtf

  • Some of these comments are just embarrassing.

  • Why don't they just practice ground work with them more?

  • @animalaholic It's not a case of practicing some ground work. They can do that at home until the cows come home. When you get to a show environment with a very fit horse, they're bound to get excited, also note the majority of those horses were playing up going towards the judge which is probably the direction of their lorry etc.

  • They are just extremely excited

Horses know what they are suppose to do at shows and they love their job. After they are ridden they are pretty calm (I went to Rolex last year. None of the horses there were very bad at all)

  • ANaBelle is our FaMily frieNd & her horse is so aMaZiNg! They areNt tuggiNg their Mouths uNless they MisBehaVe

  • They are acting up because they are yanking on there mouths and too much people and plus if they are thoroughbreds then thoroughbreds are really jittery especially if young trust me i ride one

  • ohhh yeah i know where your coming from xD

  • I'm pretty sure they are fine with people watching them >.>

  • ll lovely horses! some of the leaders are just laughing lol! i rekon i would tell me horse he was an idiot and laugh it off! =D

  • silly horses :) gotta love em :D

  • haha i luved that :D i know mine would have been lyk that x

  • can u blame them lol its quite scarey and there babies lol well heald on though id be on the floor lol

  • i think that when they act up like that not when they are being completely stupid and going crazy but when they are just kinda goofing around and dancing, that is when they are showing their true beauty and elegance even though its aggravating

  • @JessyBeth It is still not okay for the horses to be doing this. They should have schooled more in this sort of position. All the horses are very pretty, but good behavior is very important too. I would not allow this during a show. My horses respect me on the ground and on them. They do not walk infront of me or trample over me.

  • I remember doing something like this with my jumper. He tried kicking the vet so they let us pass since he would not even let them get close enough to touch him.

  • gotta love a super fit, jacked up on energy supplements, 17h thoroughbred/warmblood! its never a dull moment with these guys lol!

  • Get real.

  • I just love the trot at 3:15!!!!!!!!!

  • i dont think these horses like this kind of competitions

  • haha i saw bucks, knocking down of flowers, piaffe/passage action, these horses need to be ridden! they are super huge!

  • at 1:20 that horse was like doing a piaffe/passage! wooho!

  • the horse that threw up a few bucks..that was hilarious.

  • Its actually quite comforting to see the pro's horses behaving like that at shows...my horse gets very excited as well and can be a bit naughty and i always blame myself for it!!

    Thanks for posting x

  • I Think Black Dum was just excited :L#Ellie my pony looks lame when shes messing around

    I LOVE EVENTING!

    Rock on :L

    x

  • Stunning horses all.

And all but Tam were the same dark bay colour, too.

    LOL

  • Oh Yeah, i love Tam!

    x

  • tamarillo did look beautiful then and that was a hellof a buck :L

  • Two things:

    1. Some of you should know what you're talking about before you start to criticize. ;-]

    2. I love how these stellar event horses have their quirks and vices just like regular show horses. Haha!

    I love Mr. Dumbledore....

  • What was the crazy lady who led the last horse thinking? Her shoes were like driving shoes not hold on to my crazy horse and not get my foot broke shoes.

  • or it could just be the suspention in the hind legs. my gelding is like that and is sound and gets low 70s in 3rd level dressage. dressage judges like the suspention

  • they are all so beautiful!!

  • it's not showing....

  • yes it is!!!!

  • it's a trot up. to see whether the horse is lame etc.

  • so what their are people their watching it helps in point yada yada yad

  • Its Not About showing, itfair ion the horses so you dont run them lame!

It should be bought into normal ODE's aswell"

  • You do know that these people are 4*, 3 day eventers?

They aren't so pathetic. Everyone can have a small mishap because their horses are scared of something or over excited, so don't judge!

  • Lol people have no idea XD It's not a show class and people are watching because it's interesting.

I've done a trot up at a normal ODE of a medium level :)

  • Omg, was balck drum lame :S x

  • looks like it :|

  • wow! who brings a lame horse to a horse trial? and then enters the class? that's crazy!

  • That isn't a class. It's a vet check checking for lameness.

  • I LOVE Oppositiom buzz, hes like one of my fav eventers :D He rocks

  • Its good to see them all feeling so fresh even at the end of the season!! they all look very very well!!

  • haha this video just shows how much of a dufas horses can be sometimes. very excited hahaha. they are all georgous.

  • haha william fox pitt looks like hes heeding a tiny pony!!!!(because hes so tall)

  • agreed!!

  • the horses are just excited maybe showin off a little. my horse would be doin ta same thing or she might just stop and try to eat some grass.

  • aww this is why i love horses, they are such intelligent and intreaging individuals :)

  • This is funny. And horses Do react ot environment, you can have an incredible bond with your horse and still have them get excited. Also horses respond to their riders, who may themselves be quite nervous do to the initial reaction of the horse. THeres no need to place blame

  • haha, how funny, bless em x

  • lool they all look up for it and ready to go! much unlike my horse who tends to fall asleep just before a compitition! it goes to show how well trained and fit they are! amazing!

  • and ' horselvr139, you dont own a horse of this standard. They are born, bred and raised for this type of work. and seeing as you dont alk your horse in a bridal your horse is probably a softie. They are not showing lack of control. These animals weigh 40 times what these riders weigh and whilst they are excited whose gonna stop them ? Their riders. Not one of them actually lost it they gained control pretty sharpish.

  • Haha they are excited!!! Aww bles em. They know their gorgeous dont they ? :P I think all of the riders handled them very well, it was a quick stop it, and then carried on trotting. Anyone else would have been dragged along behind .

  • i had an ex-racehorse that used to react like that whilst being trotted up for all sorts of things. He'd behave going away from home, but turning for the return used to flick a switch in his head, big time, just like the horses in the video. And believe me, if these horses are anything like him, no amount of "kind words and petting" will help. And yes, when he really forgot himself and behaved like a prat, he got his chifney/bit pulled... then he would behave again.

  • i agree with EliieVonSmellie but neither are you at the level at which you would be required to do a trot up at Burghley.how can you say that these riders have no bond with their horses? That is unbelievably naive; these riders invest huge sums of energy and time into producing these highly strung horses

The reason your horse doesn't act like that is probably because it's nowhere near so highly strung, nowhere near so fit and under nowhere near so much pressure as those top quality event horses

  • Agreed. Twelve year old girls should stop giving out "advice" they've gathered from watching black beauty too many times.

  • nicleyy said, a horse reacts to its enviroment :) burghleys a pretty hectic place no doubt, lol

  • ahh shucks :) thanks

    ly xx ellie

  • @amberplamber I totally agree! Anyone who thinks these people have no bond with their horses is completely wrong! Plus they're under ALOT of pressure. It's OK to mess-up sometimes!

  • Hehe!!

    Excited eventer ponies!!!!

  • oh i know this too good XD at one very important horse show for ponyriders we had to do this too and we got a score for it ,so it was really important for the final result and my pony simply wouldn't trot ,i was young and i tried to make him trot and cried so hard while pulling him behind me XD

  • I Love this

    rikeL1607!

Also see my YouTube site & receive FREE Gift Cards!

  • aww, at a YEH i was groom and my cousins horse was reefusing so much the judge allowed to to run behind it with a whip and flailing a piece of paper :/

  • i think they all did a good job tryin to hold on to them!!! theyre just sooo fit and you can tell all they wanna do is gallop! and im guessin theyre a bit excited too, coz they know whats coming!!!

  • the horse at 2:44 started out really good... and then ended not so good. His handler stayed wit him nicely!!!

  • I think the handlers did really well. They could all do with learning how to lead with more length of rein, it is much easier to control a hot horse and they are less likely to fight you. There was something bothering them all at the end of the runway. The handlers would have been better off turning the horses (incorrectly for the UK) towards them, rather than away. The horses are just glorious, bursting with health and fitness.

  • In this section you are supposed to hold onto the reins at a reasonable length, not short. :)

  • You have to turn the horses away from you so that the ground jury have full sight of the horse the entire trot up.

  • Thanks for clearing that up I was wondering!

  • so sad to see such a struggle between horse and handler....can you say "horse whisperer"? these beauties deserve better...what a bunch of egomaniacs (humans)

  • Horses get excited or spooked once in awhile.Horses are huge animals and are hard to control sometimes. These horses are more pampered than you can even dream of, beleive me.

  • Pampered does not mean that the horses are necessarily being treated well. Just because they have the most amazing stables in the world doesn't mean that they wouldn't be happier with someone who could handle them better because they weren't worried about looking so good. The handlers were all too worried about how they looked when they should have been worried about calming the horses down.

  • Calming those kind of horses down is worthless. They are excited and just want to get onto the course.

  • Calming a horse down is never worthless, in fact it is beneficial in the long run. A calm horse is a horse that will focus better, and therefore perform better. So no, calming these horses down is not worthless.

  • cuz they are really fit really fresh and it is the 1st trot up lool bless them bit hyper horses lol x

  • I bet you that these people don't even talk and reasure their horse :(

but they are amazing animals! <3

  • I'd be willing to bet large sums of money that not one of them attempted to calm the horse down through soft words and reassuring petting, they all just jerked around on the bit.

  • i'll bet you they did, these riders cannot get their horses to where they are by just jerking around on the bit, trust me, these riders have the most amazing bonds with their horses!

  • Yes, I can see exactly how amazing of a bond they have with their horses. Especially since there's a different person hired to groom, ride, train, etc.

They aren't showing any sort of amazing bond with these horses. They're showing lack of control. My horse gets excited but never misbehaves like this because I have control with her and I don't jerk around on her bit when I walk her. (Though generally I don't walk my horse in a bridle.)

  • Comment removed

  • I'm doubting your horse is anywhere near as fit as these are. They are simply so excited/feel so good that they jump around and are a touch harder to handle then the average horse. And you are required to jog in a bridle.

And if you think that a different person trains these horses than the actual riders, you're mistaken. Check out the USEA rider results on any top rider with a number of horses. You can see them bringing horses up through the levels. Right from Novice to these top events

  • They are hired to ride the horse through the levels, not to train the horse. Just because you're competing on it doesn't mean you're training it or even handling it outside of the ring. There's a video of Beezie Madden falling and she doesn't even walk her own horse out of the ring. Her groom comes and walks it for her. Pathetic.

My horse may not be as fit as these horses, but she has much more respect on the ground than that. Even when she's excited she knows how to act properly.

  • Those horses are top level excellently peigreed animals. Of course they're excited, especially when there's lots of people and activity around them.

  • Pedigree has absolutely nothing to do with the level of respect the horse has on the ground. And in this case, if it did, it would mean that they had shit pedigrees. Any horse can get excited, but some of these horse were just being rude. My appaloosa gets excited when we're at shows, but never behaves like this. Does that mean her pedigree isn't good or that she isn't healthy? No, it means that she has more respect on the ground than these horses do...

  • True, but some breeds tend to be more 'hot' than others... they ARE warmbloods. Breeds like appaloosas tend to be more calm. These horses are quite young too.

  • I know two year olds that have more respect than this. And appaloosa aren't considered calm by many people. Their heritage consists of Indian war horses. A horses breed and age is never an excuse for it being ill mannered.

  • Do u event? Most of these horses are hot Eventers. They have a mind of their own..but are also amazing!! ALL horses have their moments. And this just seemed to be these horses moments. =)

  • Just a question how much oats do you feed your horse before a horse?

These horses are very hot because they are loaded with energy boosting supplements and oats

  • Once again, energy is not an excuse for bad behavior. Some of them were just energetic, but some of them were taking advantage of their handlers.

  • well you still have no excuse to constantly defy everyone of their opinions just because you can.
