  • I've melted and crushed tons of pennies in my day and never once went to jail.

  • Chuck Norris can look at a penny and turn it into a silver dollar... and melt it!

  • touch it..

  • Hey, pretty cool that the torch can actually melt it so quickly! And I'm not sure, by I think the silvery substance it turned into is actually the valuable zinc the penny is made out of. Not certain, but that would be pretty interesting if it is...

  • Laser destruct your camera sensor ???

  • @thiagosats yes, and at the time I couldn't figure out what it was, until one day I made a PRETTY NOTICEABLE mark and realized it was the laser lol.

  • @mikeeey1337 hahaha my phone k850 suffered the same fate ...

by a laser of 70mW Green .. also left a mark

  • @mikeeey1337 i hope your retinas are ok :)

  • You can't melt coins if you are going to sell the metal. If you had lots of old pennies, you could potentially melt them down and sell the copper, since the copper is worth more than a penny but it is illegal.

  • @sgreen4 haha dude if that were the case everyone would be doing thaat but it aint pure copper the government isnt that stupid, they control peoples lives through deception, i dont think they would make the penny's manufacturing cost be more than its worth thats jst plain stupid if they did.

  • @seriouslyImmature old pennies were made of copper. the cost of the copper changes prices, the cost of the penny has gone way down so you could theoretically make money by melting old pennies and selling them. That's why newer pennies are made differently and that's also why it's illegal to do.

  • @sgreen4 haha dude pennies are still made from copper but they were never made from pure copper,if it was pure copper most, if not all pennys would be bent due to copper being very ductile. I doubt u have a clue what ur talkin about so just quit while ur behind

  • @seriouslyImmature the composition of the U.s. penny has changed over the years. they were at one time 100% copper. they have put in less and less copper over the years. during wwii they were made out of steel. now they are mostly zinc and plated with copper.

  • @sgreen4 fool read my last comment if it was 100% people would be able to bent it easily due to coppers ductility, i have never heard a case where people used their bare hands which means pennies were never 100% copper they were always an alloy which contain some copper

  • @sgreen4 used thier bare hands to bend copper*

  • But destroying money is still illegal.

  • This guy got to money...

  • you should have saved that penny and bought a tripod

  • try that on a much older penny. They make them very disposable now. copper coated zinc

  • its only 1 present copper the rest is zinc

  • that was my favorite penny to

  • @simbioticfreak ...to stand on? to sing with? or... TOO!!?

  • @mikeeey1337 NICE!!!!..... To Show People that You can melt shit with a Hand Torch.. !!

  • u getting in trouble. thats illegal....

  • Kill everybody!!1!!1!

  • Actually destroying currency helps improve the value of the dollar, as it decreases when there's more currency in circulation.

He's therefore improving our economy. :)

  • Defacing currency applies only to modifying one currency to look like another. In other words, scamming. At least that's what it means here in Michigan.

  • after the penny was melted it looked like solder...

  • um dude, you do realize thats a felony and could face you a max of 20 years in prison rihgt

  • @peterlol21 no

  • @mikeeey1337 thats the second reply comment i got today, except the last one said something about hwo i would tap that

  • @mikeeey1337 lol yea defacing american/canadian currency

  • @peterlol21 He's doing you a favor.. In theory, if there is less money to go around, things become cheaper because the value of everything else that's left- goes up. Win!

  • @peterlol21 fuck thats just what the government has been doing with our money.

  • @MrBrownns ahjahaha thats true

  • @peterlol21 wait what?

  • @peterlol21

Do you realize no federal agent would ever waste their time pursuing a case against defacing a penny? The government should go to jail for making pennies. 1 penny costs 1.79 cents to make...

  • @ph0chiz0 lol

  • @peterlol21 Jesus, youtube comments get more retarded by the day...

  • @peterlol21 OH MY GOD HE MELTED A PENNY! HE'S AN EXTREME DANGER TO SOCIETY! SCREW 20 YEARS, GIVE HIM THE ELECTRIC CHAIR!!!!!

  • @toofattocare77 i know right, it should be the water board

  • @peterlol21 You do realize you're incorrect, right? It's only a crime to deface US currency IF you do so with the intent to defraud someone. If you change a $20 bill to look like a $50 and try and pass it as a $50 bill, that's illegal. Simply melting a coin is not illegal. Haven't you seen those machines where you put a penny or a quarter or something in and turn turn the handle and it flattens the coin and stamps something into it or whatever? It's the same thing. This isn't illegal.

  • @peterlol21 yah makes perfect sense how people throw them into sewer drains

  • @peterlol21 shut up american cop

  • Penny murders!!!!

  • Poor Penny :(

  • Its illegal to burn pennis because if you burn $5 worth of pennis you can export the copper for about $100 profit

  • @cal352 copper metal is currently valued at about $4.20/lb, and since 1982 pennies have been minted primarily of zinc, only about ~2% copper. So regardless this is a myth.

  • @cal352 those are not pure copper.

  • i am laughing at the comments on here. sure its illegal but if he wants to suffer the consequences let him. i found out thirty years ago it was wrong to deface a coin. I took a nickle and put it on a railway track to see what would happen. no one told me but at the time I thought it was cool and fun. but I wouldn't do that now.

  • thats shit, its not even made with copper. you should get an antique penny and melt that

  • @DiesesedCow to melt cooper he would need a propane or maap gas tourch

  • @is64611 it might work with butane. if properly insulated

  • RIP

    Penny

    ?-2007

  • the only reason is illegal is because the copper is worth mor than the penny, so you can do it for faudulent profit.

  • @nuclearfallout217 its only illegal if your doing it to defraud the government, or doing out of hate for the country. (actually i think the second one isnt even a law)

  • thats illegal.

  • just saying i wouldnt use my key to move it around because what if it hardened on your key!

  • @SysmicAssasin17 wasn't mine, was a friend's and apparently it didn't go to anything anymore.

  • cool now drink it

  • Nice vid man! For me, this is interesting....

No1 cares if it's illegal or not... just enjoy the vid and have some fun...

  • you do realize its illegal to deface money...... right?

  • @nuclearfallout217 you realize every other comment I read is about how illegal it is?

  • @mikeeey1337 sorry but i dont read every comment....... i just watched the vieo posted this watched it again and left

  • @mikeeey1337 oo so illegal nobosy cares about melting a penny moron

  • @BallerSkier moron?? really??

  • @mikeeey1337 if its so illegal then why are there machines that press images onto pennies?

    you fail

  • @BallerSkier dude its just a penny lol xD

  • @BallerSkier Actually penny melting is the entire reason why it is a felony to deface money. The law was made because back when they used real copper to make pennies (They don't any more) the copper used in the penny was worth more than the penny so there were many people who would melt down pennies by the thousands to make money. Destroying money is a very ironic source of income.

  • @nuclearfallout217 my sister melted pennies at her school in science class

  • @nuclearfallout217 You do realize that it is only illegal to deface money if you are doing it in a fraudulent way, otherwise how would penny smashing machines be legal. Idiots.

  • @nuclearfallout217 you do realize that no one gives a shit about pennies?

  • @nuclearfallout217 Go suck a dick fag. Who cares if he is melting a penny.

  • @nuclearfallout217 I wipe my ass with 1 dollar bills.

  • @nuclearfallout217 Oh, you still respect the US government? That's sad, man. Real sad.

  • @nuclearfallout217 and your point is?

  • @nuclearfallout217 it's a fuckin' penny, what are you jewish?

  • @JayWilliamThompson 1. Nice name dipshit.

    2. No I'm not jewish.

    3. I was pointing out the fact that it is illegal to deface US currency.

    4. Your a fucking loser because you looked through all the comments till you came to mine which is 4 months old.

  • @nuclearfallout217 1. thankyou!

    2. it was a joke, cool your shit

    3. why???

    4. i disagree because your comment was at the top of the comment list because the uploader replied, and that is a serious accusation to make about someone whom of which have only read one line of text about. idiot. you're entire comment is unethical. have a nice day bud

  • @JayWilliamThompson UNEATHICAL?? YOUR THE ONE WHO ATTACKED ME AND CALLED ME A JEW!!!! I HAD EVERY RIGHT IN THAT CASE TO JUDGE YOU BASED ON YOUR IGNORANT AND INSULTING COMMENT.

  • @nuclearfallout217 attacked? wow way to be a victim idiot. just calm down before you make yourself seem even more stupid

  • trouble

  • Mr Krabs from Spongebob would kill you if he see what your doing to a penny, thats money

  • Defacing American currency.

  • This is only illegal in the united states once the federal money leaves the u.s it's legal

  • i literally toss mine in the trash. all the time xD they're so annoying... i saved them for years and the most i ended up with was about 100 dollars.. bought my family dinner but it's definately not worth doing these days.

  • @izlude2 you bought something worth $100 in pennies?! that must have pissed off the person at the register to count them all......

  • Imagine just scooping that up and throwing that at someones face...Ouch.

  • You do realize that's illegal right?

  • u should touch it! looks just a little warm to me

  • Coke a cola aint gonna solve this problume. >:o

  • Dude you just wasted a penny!

  • I was heading to coin star... and then i saw this... now i will have to carry one less penny :)

  • is that one of those lectric torches? or is the flame just too dispersed to see with that camera?

  • touch it

  • ive heard those torches burn at 1500˚......GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!!!

  • i got that 1 too :D

  • liquid metal O_O thats some terminator shit

  • @xmenfan5 Liquid Metal? #LOL I Have Gallium That Melts In Your Hand! (Melting Point = 85.58 °F) Mercury Is Liquid At Room Temperature! (Melting Point = -37.89 °F)

  • you know if you melt it it is woth 2x as much

  • @TheWickedLasers What, Zinc? Pennies Are 97% Zinc. xD

  • dude that key will never work rite again :P

  • Ha! I did that the first day I got my mini pencil torch! It's awsome!

  • thumbs op for touching it

  • Not aluminum on the inside, it's mostly zinc now.

  • touch et!!!!!!!!!!

  • i bought the same torch :D cant wait for it to cum on my face

  • this is how we make metal liquid terminators LOL

  • wtf that is crazy lol

  • yes use a key to touch the liquid

  • sorry about pennys i was going to finish when i accidentally pressed enter

  • wont that mean you are defacing the queen?

  • pennys

  • I think you mean pennies.

  • Snuggle That Penny

  • made of copper?

  • cool how the inner zinc has a lower melting point that the outer copper so it melts first

  • @lockheed22

    not really

    its an jet flame

that means that its an very small and strong flame

they hitted the penny with the flame in d´the middle

so the inner part melted first

if you want to see the jet flame in action watch my vid Micro Blazer

  • now melt tin and copper together to make brass

  • @tomek123kotek

    runescape freak >>

  • ive never played runescape my granddad told me lol u fAiled epicLLY

  • Now melt Iron Oxide in a grainual solution with Aluminum powder...haha, thermite.

  • The metal in a penny is worth more than a penny now and a nickel is worth more than 5 cents, so they are scared people will start melting them down. What's more ridiculous is now It's even illegal to carry more than $5 dollars worth of pennies or nickels out of the country (exporting coins for melting) O_o WTF

Anyone know how to separate the copper from the zinc ?

  • i think sulfuric acid should do the trick, im not completely sure though.

  • @Miredninja grind alot of pennies up and heat to about 420c the zinc will melt but the copper won't so just scoop the melted zinc away and leave th copper and btw isnt copper worth more then zinc so you could melt both and sell both on ;D

  • didn't know the melting point was higher for copper but I guess I could have looked it up and saved you the trouble Thanks for the info. Now where's my torch.. lol ;)

  • @Miredninja no the metal in a penny is not worth more than i cent its the cost of a penny and time a resources to produce said penny thats worth more

  • you arent serious?

Because i have like 2 huge piles of coins at my house and its all my spare change that i dont use, i dont melt them but is it still illegal to have more than 5$?

(there goes the piggybanks lmao XD)

  • no you can still have as much change you want lol. It's just some customs thing for when you're leaving the country something about "exporting a currency"

  • ha that was pretty cool

  • It's kind of sad how ignorant some people are here.

I'm not going to say who. but his/her name is:

    mercanaries3...

    Oh, wait damnit!

  • hes a dick.

  • yupp!

  • yesnpoke it with ur homekeys, thats a great idea lol

  • ahhahahahahhhaah

  • It's too bad melting pennies is illegal these days. Anyone with a jar of older, copper pennies could take it in to a metal recycler for a bit of money. The government's afraid if people start melting down coins for the cash, pennies and nickels will disappear from circulation, since even their modern versions have a greater intrinsic value than face value.

  • wrong, it's only illegal if your trying to deface the government or make counterfeits

  • they changed that law in 2006. It IS illegal to melt them now.

  • who the fuck cares?

  • just shut the fuck up then. If you don't care dont reply.

  • hey why the leafs near the penny don't burn?

    xD

  • because leaves have higher melting pont than copper, dumbass. try throwing a leaf into a blast furnace, nth will happen to the leaf

  • AAHAHAHAHHAHAHA...

    you win noelnoel... you win.

I sure hope you're being sarcastic.

  • This does actually melt pennys guys.

    I recommend getting it aswel.

  • you can melt copper but the problem is not the temperature of the flame, but how much heat it produces, too much escapes because the process isnt adiabatic, anyhow cool video!

  • try melting a real penny

  • define real..?

  • well its just that your melting a mixed metal penny mostly aluminom and other alloys but if it were a copper penny you would be at it all day any penny before 1998 is copper anything later is basicly sodder < maybe spelt wrong

  • o lol yeah, 100% copper. Yeah I've tried a few old ones and they just get hot and color distorted, but that's it.

hah if solder were inside pennies that would be sad.. it would melt so quickly.

  • lol wut?

  • plastic would catch on fire, and it would turn all gooey while staying on fire, this just simply melted.

  • copper melts at 1253 kelvin

  • yes but newer pennies aren't 100% copper, just a thin layer on the outside, and on the inside is aluminum. That's why if you try to melt an older penny it just turns colors but never actually melts.

  • @mikeeey1337 actually the inside is zinc lol

  • @mikeeey1337 not alu, it's zinc

  • @mikeeey1337 Not aluminum... Zinc.

  • @mikeeey1337 Wrong. The inside is zinc. zinc produces highly toxic vapors when it boils. You can die from prolonged exposure to these toxic vapors.

    No, I'm not kidding.

  • @mikeeey1337 Close but they are actually mostly zinc, not aluminum.

  • @mikeeey1337 No its zinc on the inside

  • @toadsEATbugs No it's copper on the outside. How do I know? My class did a lab on how to hollow out a penny and the inside melted away when we put it in chemicals. All that was left was the Copper which was the outside.

  • @mikeeey1337

no dude it is a thin layer of copper with zink.

  • @mikeeey1337 actually its not aluminum its zinc

  • @mercanaries3 i also have a blowtorch sumthin like tis

    and the temp. is 3600F

    3600F is equal to what?

  • @htirah100

haha that has no affect on chuck norris, he is the fire.

  • hey fuck off
