Actually, evolution doesn't say we came from monkeys, but rather descended from a common mammalian ancestor. But the "exoskeletoned bitches sneering at you" observation is pretty accurate.
I think he makes a good joke of it when he explains his relationship to computers. I mean he's not saying "science doesn't work", but more "we humans don't trust science to be more than a tool"..
So that's his joke on evolution: its complicated for people to understand and it doesn't seem to fulfill the basic human need (the "story" factor).
But you're of course perfectly right - evolution doesn't say we cam from modern monkeys.
Just: don't have to argue with guys on OUR side =)
Not arguing, just pointing out a fact. Jeez, it's like everyone on the internet assume everyone else is trying to antagonize them. But Moran does in fact go on to say "so science doesn't work", same for consumerism and religion. I thought it was to play on his misanthropic drunken persona, but I find he's much more human in this particular show, since he's smiling a bit more. Also- people use evolution to fill a spiritual need? Huh? And here I thought it was just a random idea. Anyway, thanks.
He he.. well sorry. I was really just thinking aloud. It's funny the way whatever the kind of youtube comment one types (short, funny, hateful, cheerful, rude, philosophical), it's always gonna annoy someone.
