  • lol graphics was so retarded

  • a game well beyond its time

  • I had this game...AND I FUCKIN HATED EVERY BIT OF IT.

  • man that was awesome... but you have some sort of magic god damn finger - how did you shoot so fast at first... HAXXX!!!! 8]

  • must get game, run in dosbox... the newer games have ruined me tho, I'm all wasd now, not cursor keys ::(

  • I remember this game. It was pretty fun for it's time.

  • this was my first sandbox game rofl

  • can definitely see some resemblance to populous... though i've only played populous the beginning...

the map, the water, the little panel with your powers and stuff...

this game looks interesting, and i saw it on the PSN... it has such a low score, strangely.

i have to admit, im freaking confused... he shot a ball into the ocean and a huge temple popped up, then he started shooting birds with fireballs... the hell is going on? O_o

  • @ZeroJinKui he built his castle, and all the mana he gets from dead things he kills he has to turn into HIS mana (later you get more wizards who will steal yours) and then his balloon can carry it away.. It's all about mana, like when you see him turn tents into tents with his flag.. they are his people then, and he gets mana. it's NOTHING like populous.. lol.. apart from being played on a 486 with vga gfx. and the game is brilliant. so many different creatures with different powers.. FUN!

  • you know where I can download this game?

  • @liyuancheachea well, one place is on the playstation network on either your PSP or PS3... if you want to attain it legally, anyway.

  • @liyuancheachea: gog.com.

  • how can a game like this be so forgotten?? this game is cool

  • @Troforso they can make cod59 and people will pay for it, because it's got a chopper you can fly and has a gun you can shoot man... cool..

But this game... which is absolutely inspired, is stuck in the early 90s... madness hey..

This game should be ported to the new age of pc's.. where video and audio are #1 over gaming type.. If it's not a FPS or something like skyrim, no one cares...

This is an FPS, just a mad one, I'd damn well buy it if it was the same game but with pretty gfx!! :)

  • Thinking of it now, it's kinda like:

Flower + Panzer Dragoon + Populous = Magic Carpet

  • where i can download this game, i cant find it i always wanted to play it when i was kid

  • @omegazerozx It's being sold on GOG.com for $6.

  • @Lucklarin whats the total size of the game?

ill have to wait, i dont have credit card

  • remember the kids on neighbours used to play this :)

  • @faecalist lol and that was when it was old.. :)

  • lets just hope the taliban never find one of these

  • Am I the only one who gets a sudden Bat-moment in the end?

That voice sounds just like Alfred, Batmans butler. I was expecting it to say "Congratulations, master Bruce, the world has restored the equilibrium".

  • Remake please!

  • I remember seeing this running as a demo on what was then a brand new Pentium 90 PC. I notice the old games for PC's people at GOG added this to their lineup recently.

  • Had a flashback a while ago, I played this game long ago when I was a kid. I didn't have a clue what I was suposed to do so I just flew around haha. For some reason I found this game very creepy... Maybe it's the combination of the music and how the game looks like. Still glad to see it again! :D

  • i never figured out what to do in this game but i still enjoyed this because of the graphics and destroyable environment

  • Holy shit.....I played this game somewhere between the ages of 4 & 6. The first game I ever played. I vaguely remembered the title. Pretty awesome to see video of it

  • When I was little I failed to understand this game. Sometimes, when I was playing it, the screen suddenly changed into black and white...

  • Boy, this brings back great memories of this game. Wish it would get a sequel or updated.

  • I ve never played this game and, honestly, I dont get what it is about

  • @dlakodlak that is why you will never know....

youre a battlefield 3 man.. I can tell..

  • @drunkenwrecche nope, I am Fallout 1,2, Baldur's Gate 2, Plabescape: Torment... even F-29 Retaliator, Il-2 Sturmovik, Warcraft 1,2, Starcraft 1,2 kind of man.

  • Watching this really takes me back. I loved this game!

  • I downloaded this game last year to complete it one more time. Such an epic game!

  • Did Populous 3 use the same engine? looks very similar

  • @Sojk65a yeah, Populous 3 engine was built on the base of Magic Carpet engine. And so is Dungeon Keeper!

  • Génialissime ce jeu à l'époque !

  • What's the main target in this Game?

  • @Iamametalfreak You fly and kill monsters and enemy wizards in worlds that have been made barren in wizard wars through corrupted use of mana. You try to gather a high enough percentage of mana into your castle to restore each level's balance.

  • I REALLY need to get this thing running on windows 7 x64, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding a way... is it impossible to play it on win7 x64? DOSbox is not helping either.

  • @SenkohcoolaD: I tend to promote Good Old Games. The game sub-forums are often very helpful; create an account, search for the Magic Carpet forum, and ask over there. (Their games use DosBox, but are pre-configured to run on as many modern machines as possible, although there can sometimes be glitches.)

  • ICH

    HASSE

    DIESES VERFKTE SCHAIS GAME!

  • Omg, will someone PLEASE suggest to EA to remake this game. The graphics will be an absolute blast for everyone, and I reckon it will be very successful.

Apparently the reason why they did not make a No. 3 was because it was not very successful, but I think this game just needs a touch up and a go, because I reckon if EA remake this game, it will enlighten everyone's memories of the olden days and remind everyone how much fun it was to fly a carpet, shoot spells and protect ya own castle!

  • @Lukethis THIS !!!! Can't give you more than 1 thumb up, but you get 10 from me!!!!

(if google makes me put in another captcha I'm going to bloody scream)

  • you guys dont realize how much this game was ahead of its time its amazing.

  • I came on this vid because o the sound effect from the speed up. I remembered this is where I first heard it. It's been used on movies etc, I've heard it in loads of em, can anyone tell me the origins of that sound effect so I can finally put it to rest?

  • @Kan2209 I found this video looking for that sound specifically. I don't know where it originated from, but I assume it's stock sound footage that everybody bought the rights to. I've heard it everywhere, most notably Backdraft. In fact that was the sound they used FOR a "backdraft" in Backdraft.

  • i don't have good memories from this game coz as a kid back then, i couldn't understand how the controls work and all i heard was "uugghhh!" when he's hurt.

  • People could make a new version of this game using the free programs such as Unity & Blender. Just don't use the "Magic Carpet" name, never know what EA would / could do.

  • I used to like this game. Brings back memories :)

  • @svtcuntour its a pity you cant remember your an irritating cunt ..thrush boy..lol...

  • @SMERGHEED I see you're here to troll. Checking the youtube comment search I see others have left you with a bleeding asshole from you trying to troll everywhere. You must like bloody assholes. LOL. Also the only thing irritating is you since you followed me here to troll. Hahaha.

Anyway you're not worth trying to argue with so I'll let others pound you since you seem to like it. You keep going back for more.

  • @svtcuntour ....ggggggrrrrrr...lol..Radical..lol...fastest around nurburg!..lol..and from blighty..lol..

  • Those cocksucker birds drop eggs (mana's) 5 times their own size!! The good old days, this was the most surreal game I had ever seen yet... I loved the music on PSX.

  • classic game, brings back memories

  • I love the game, but the music sucks.

  • @krux02 Wow, you have no taste in music then.

  • why can't lionhead studios make a magic carpet 3? BECAUSE EA SUCKS BUT Whats another reason why?

  • @AlienX99999

Because they're more interested in making 1354 variations of the same damn boring racing game (Need for Speed).

They bought Bullfrog and completely destroyed what made it great and successful. Typical large corporation full of clueless people.

Anyone with half a brain would have made Magic Carpet 3 and Dungeon Keeper 3.

  • WTF???

  • haha, this is actually pretty good, graphically.... i mean, the bullets make splashes when they hit the sea! even some contemporary games neglect to add that detail, lol. this was ahead of its time, i think.

  • This was the first game I ever played on the ps1

  • I remember playing this at my grandpas when I was like, 6.

  • 04:15 Hehe Ragheads !

  • This game is excelent the music fits well with this game, i loved Magic Carpet 1, Plus & Hidden Worlds, and Magic Carpet 2.... you can still play this game on PC with a Dos Emulator, game is so addictive

  • Damn. This game STILL makes me slightly motion sick.

  • 4:19 That was Osama Bin Laden

  • shit not a game

  • This game is awsome! It will be nice if someone out there makes remake of this game...

  • dude this game was one of the best of all time... tell you what though, at the start, you oughta build your castle in the middle of all the vultures... it kills them immediately and gets you a whole bunch of manna straight off

  • This was a really good game for it's time :D We played it alot :D

  • this game is so fucked up... especially with the music

  • nostalgic.... 486 / pentium 90

  • i loved this game: mana, mana, mana, mana everywhere :)

  • This was re-released on psn and it made me go omg, a carpet that shoots.

  • I would say that his peak was Populous 3...but Magic Carpet was one of his best.

  • Peter Molineux did better games than that

  • I think he reached his peak with black & white, but this was a visionary game back then

  • A great overlooked classic.

  • Damn, look at those graphics! :O

  • what is the problem with this graphics?

  • Nothing, they're awesome!

  • Epic nostalgia...

  • OMG I typed this in for a joke and couldnt believe I found something for it LOL liked this game years ago but wasnt any good at it

  • This was a hard game to me jejeje

  • Game now available from playstation store for 3.99

  • yeah, ok - I liked that game too. But the music is sooo annoying and depressing - I think now, after an hour of play I could turn into a zombie, leave my flat and start mutilating people :)

  • I love this game. I have the Playstation version, which is just as good as the pc version, but with better music.

  • awesome I found this ;D I saw this game when I was a little child and I was scared of those worms or what it is flying in the air xD

    Thx for the upload ;3

  • LOL yeah, I'm 19 now, I played this when I was like 5 or something, used to be so scary when i got attacked by something. Now I know how everythign works. It's so much fun.

Magic Carpet 2 was also a very good game.

  • Wow saw the disk this morning and it reminded me so i thought i'd look it up i cant play it anymore my PC wont let me any suggestions on that? :S

but if i remember rightly i could never get off the first level and you just obliterated the second lol good job man :p

  • You could use Dos Box (Search for it on google), copy the files from the CD and then use DosBox to play it.

It works for me, see if it works for you

  • Are you running this in DOSBox? I cannot get smooth movement like yours! :)

  • How funny that this game's engine would be the most used in future bullfrog games, such as Dungeon keeper, Populous beginning, and Syndicate wars.

This game kind of reminds me of Descent...are the controls similar, or different?

  • Well, other than not being able to reverse the mouse controls for up and down, it's quite easy to control but very hard to master!

  • Ah, thanks for the info.

  • awesome game and awesome game music and atmosphere.

  • Magic Carpet was the reason why I bought my first pentium (90). Haha... such a great game. But my pentium was still too slow to play the game in svga... haha... great memories!

  • 1994? WOW! I didn't realise this game was that old, good game though, lot's of memories.

  • its on psn now

  • anyone can give me a dosbox that actually works with magic carpet and tell me how to get it to work with magic carpet? i try downloading it from the official site but the exe file is buggy and creates errors when trying to extract everything. the zip is like 57 version but that appears to not work with magic carpet.

  • I am using DOSBox 0.72, copied all the files from the CD to the hard drive, used a front-end called D-Fend Reloaded, used Soundblaster and MIDI for sound/music and set cycles to 2000 to play in SVGA (hit 'R' while in game to play in 'high res')

  • A very underated game. This was awesome back in the day :)

  • nice

  • LOVED THIS GAME!

  • Someone needs to remake this game for today, absolutely. I used to love playing this, could never figure out how to get past level with no land.

  • too bad that nor sequel nor remake has been made.

    this game HONORABLY deserves it.

imagine MC2 with todays graphics... sigh...

  • remake with crysis - crytek engine would be amazing!

  • im 12 and i just found this game sittin around in my house (dont know how it got there) i want to use it on vista but it wont let me someone plese help

  • i love that game :D i paly it when i was 9 yers and i was stuck on level...37?...or somthing:P

  • OH! I love this game! When I was a kid I must play this every day! Now I am 25... still miss this game.

  • Oh man this takes me back...I was probably 13 when this came out. It was one of the most engaging games I played for that time period, and REALLY good graphics for that time...considering you didn't need any kind of 3D accelerator anything. Really great for just a year after DOOM

  • I remember being the envy of my friends when my dads brand new 4X CD-Rom drive ran the intro animation so smoothly compared to the 2X speed :)

  • hehehehe

  • I wish Bullfrog still existed. They had unique games :)

  • what a game, fantastic.

  • funny^^ when i got this game my pc was much too weak. i think i played it with 10 fps^^ but i was a little boy and i loved it :-)

  • I got this game some days ago but it was in my computer very hiperactive... the speed of the game was big and I couldn't play with this:(

  • Run it under DOSBOX.

  • You can slow the speed down in DOSBOX.

  • Wow, I have never played this game (though I remember some friends of mine talking about this game all the time when I was in my second year of school). That's some fantastic looking graphics for an 1994 game, the waves in the water and the mountains look great.

I'll try to get my hands on this! Anyone knows if the PSX version is as good looking and easy to control?

  • I dont know if it is easy to control, but I think the PSX version would have much better graphics due to 640 x 480 resolution with 16.7 million colours vs. the PC VGA 320 x 200 with 256 colours through the difference may not be very big due to the same engine being used, and the PSX has very strong 3D acceleration for the 90s so I guess it will be better.

  • I have great memories of this game (and carpet 2). you would destroy the other players at the same time defending your own castle.

multiplayer in this game would rock

  • It really does rock. Using Dosbox and a local area network it is possible to setup a multiplayer Magic Carpet game on modern computers. I have more fun playing this 1994 game multiplayer than modern games' multiplayer.

  • If ever there is a game more deserving to have an Xbox360/PS3/Games for Windows remake, it's this.

  • I couldn't possibly agree more.

  • I soo remember this back in the day of windows 95! It was the bees in this game that I hated!

  • Hey I downloaded Magic latelly but its without sound. Would playing by dosbox help?? Anyway when I play it the game sometimes quits. Got any idea what to do?

  • Totally unique gameplay and the atmosphere is perfect. it also featured stereo 3d modes.

    Magic Carpet is definitely classic

  • The atmosphere in this game is excellent.

  • This game rocks, was the first video game I tried :) Back then I thought it was so awsome

  • It still is a good game.

  • My dad and I were addicted to this game! Those birds were annoying. Why don't they make a magic carpet 3 for newer computers?

  • Because EA sucks.

  • Because there is no bullfrog.

  • @keys37: Wow! I had a PCM soundcard back in the days with real instruments. I always forget how cheesy standard fm soundcards sounded then.

  • Those weren't birds. Those were bats. Their squeaking was heard.

  • @JackoB716 Wrong ... Reading the manual will inform you that those were ment to be vultures, which is a branch from the bird tree, not the bat tree :).

  • @JackoB716

It's not "squeaking". Its squawking. And that's the sound predatory birds like vultures make.

  • I'm on level 25 , tomorrow i get level 30 heheeh for me its very easy! I love this game!!

  • One of the best games i have ever played!

It was so much fun to play against others, more than any other game i have played.

  • I got this game for sega saturn, its a strange game, but i love the music and atmosphere

  • This game is awesome!!

  • now that i look at this again those giant worms look like giant pieces of shit lol

  • man this brings back memories man ive still got it sumwhere but aint played it in yearrrrrrrrrrrssssssss

  • those were the good ol' days, i only got to around level 6 though

  • wow i played this game when i was 7! Pretty fun back then.

  • Hoooo ! one of my 1st game !!!

  • Ugh.. I wish I still had this. Parents pitched the disc when they got rid of their crappy old computer. Never did make it to the end..

  • I loved this one. I could win every time. It even had a 3-d mode. Really great game.

  • <3 i remember that i played this when i was younger. i just didn't know what to do so i just killed people and ground

  • No hay nada para jugarlo en xp?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿yo quiero volverlo a jugar!!

  • Great video! What software did you use to record it?

  • Bullfrog was so good before... DK1 was awesome, too. What happened to them?

  • Raped by EA.

  • what do you mean raped? they got tied into something which they later couldn't get out of?

  • Bullfrog was purchased by EA for lots of dosh. Sean(the inventor) worked on loads of games for EA before deciding to set up his own games businessCrazy monkeys hosts some of his latest

  • @echlyn

    Molyneux Left :(

  • Héhé i play it when im 8, what hapiness to look this game again :D.

  • This game was the shit.

  • OH MY GOD, ! so aweSOME SO AWESOME

  • man this game was a classic, think i still got the cd somewhere- in Windows 95 it used to cut out when going to the menu screen for that reason I found it frustrating and stupid to play >:(, could anyone tell what the last level was like?

  • i have this for playstation...one of the best games ever made!

  • Can't remember if I played this one or the sequel. Good stuff.

  • Classic...........

  • Looks good, but the draw distance kills you.

  • for 1994 it was excellent...

  • It was like gods gift alone that the enviroment could change. lol
