A much cheaper way of doing this is making the stencil from freezer paper than vinyl. you can get an entire roll for a couple dollars vs the cost of vinyl. using the drywall tape seems kind of backwards to me. the only time I have seen it used is when you are transferring the letters to another surface not the outside.
Great video. I searched for it to paint a GNU illustration on a polo shirt. I am not much familiar with painting. But I am confident to do that however. I have the following doubts 1. After doing the painting, should I iron the t-shirt for better drying? 2. If I wash the t-shirt, will it fade? 3. Should I insert a card board or something like that inside the t-shirt to prevent leakage to the other side? 4. Which type of fabric ink should I use?
I f you paint a base coat of white in your design first and let it dry and then go over it with your color..you would be able to see your beautiful work on darker colored fabric much better..especially lighter colors like yellow. I love what you do with the painting..awesome! :)
The drywall tape works better when using it for the letters that are cut out or for small pieces of a picture. Think of it as a negative. Use the drywall tape when you have alot of pieces you need to keep in a particular spot. Hope this helps.
I still don't understand what the purpose of the drywall tape is for. It appears as if you put the drywall tape on then take it off after placing it on the fabric to paint. Is the purpose to keep the contact paper stiff so it doesn't roll when the backing is taken off?
Freezer paper is much cheaper and easier than expensive vinyl.
Painter's tape is also much cheaper than drywall mesh, and it works great. Just look for the blue tape in the paint department at Walmart, Home Depot, or any hardware store.
It is just a different type of transfer tape. It is a little cheaper but make sure it is tacky to the touch. I bought some cheaper tape and it wasn't tacky enough.
I bought this off e-bay just type in cricut vinyl or you can use contact vinyl that you can buy from wallmart in the home section. You know the kind of stuff you use to line your shelfs with it is a lot cheaper and works just the same. I used all mine up when I made this video.
What is the purpose of the tape if you're removing?

Hah, I just noticed another Tami commented. Not me. I actually went and bought vinyl and drywall tape yesterday, cause you recommended it.

Love the video -- but have one question. What is the purpose of the drywall tape?
