In 1982 the capt. of a flight out of Wash, DC tried to land in the potomac but struck the 14th street bridge (probably because he had ice on the wings and less control). 73 died, BUT 6 people survived maybe because of him. No one called that pilot a hero.

People throw the word HERO around way too easily. Fighting to save your life is natural, that doesn't make you a hero even if you save other lives in the process. As for Capt. Sully - he was the pilot, what was he supposed to do? In 1982 the capt. of a flight out of Wash, DC tried to land in the potomac but struck the 14th street bridge (probably because he had ice on the wings and less control). 73 died, BUT 6 people survived maybe because of him. No one called that pilot a hero.
