I certainly hope that everyone realises that the original lyric was "Everyone you see everyone you know is gonna die". She was made to change it because the execs said it was way too dark. So listen to the song and think die rather than shine.

It's not about some ethereal nonsense. It's a tough love response to someone who's having a downer and who is possibly suicidal. For commercial reasons, the wording was changed from "Everyone you know is going to die" by substituting "shine" for "die". I would have loved to be in that meeting with the label.
