As a lesbian comic/gamer geek. We are out there but like you said we're kind of pushed to the back. I do think that gay male, particularly in comics get more exposure. DC is trying hard to give us a bit of a lesbo-centric voice with Batwoman. (Which for the record is awesome) There is always the "she's not really gay, but still kind of is" Wonder Woman world. There are some advances being made with lesbians in mainstream comics, but I think it's going to be a slowish process.

Given the yaoi fangirl phenomenon, I'm willing to bet that it's really because most gay porn actors don't fit the standards of male attractiveness women have. The one diffrence ive noticed is that in gay porn you sometimes see affection. Lesbian porn seems to have even more of this.
