Yea I know. Reason I ask is I own a 71-73 Silverface Champ. And I've been curious about these little Marshalls ever since they came out never owned a Marshall before. I'm a Blues guy for sure I couldn't see not having a Fender amp but this Marshall might be worth selling it
Great demo. The more I watch your demos on this amp, the more I want it. Man, here in the states they are very hard to find. All the retail music stores and online vendors will not get them until mid December 09. I hope I get mine before Christmas as I placed an order on one today. BTW...you getting any "RATTLE" noise that some are reportedly experiencing with this amp? They say the chassis is rattling, but I suspect it could be the valves as valves do fail unpredictably and quickly.
Looks like a nice amp to record with. Luckily I live in a house so I can put the amp in the fire place (no fire), and just crank it up the chimney...Only the birds suffer!...Did you have a hard time mic'ing it or did it just take right away? Thanks!
Is it too loud for bedroom use? I mean, does it have to be played loud to 'sing' and sound good. I want a small tube amp for bedroom at sensible volume. But I still want tube 'break up' without massive volume.
It sound great at any volume, and start to crunch rather fast ... but I'm afraid it's still way too loud for a standart bedroom, or even living room, except if you're living in a house with friendly (or deaf)neighbourhood.
... agree a better demo than official but is there any demo that can show us what sweet rich clean to crunch sounds these amps might produce... it seems that everything has to be whacked up to compressed fuzz super sat... there's much more to Marshall amps...
Thanks for that... helped a lot... Strats and Teles give you a much better idea of what the amp will produce on lower output pickups... this amp sounds like it has EL34 power amp valves?
I'm glad they came out with this. It looks like Marshall is heading back to "GOOD" amps. They haven't made a GREAT amp since the 80's, IMO! At least your putting the Fender amp to good use! :D
Louder (way bigger cab too) and fatter sound - very reminescent of a bluesbreaker - btw I have to turn down the bass (here's, it's everything on 5) like I used to do with my JTM45, works great at high volume and gain, especially with a humbucker guitar.
Doesn't mean I prefer it over the AC4 - both amps sound great, each typical of their brand. So, if like me you like both Vox and Marshall, I'm afraid you'll need both ;-)
is it loud enough to go over drums and bass and stuff?

@sedawesome : not really

bluez1981 1 year ago
@bluez1981 : totally different beasts - think Princeton versus Bluesbreaker-like

You were really getting the inner Billy Gibbons outta that amp...I thought rio grande mud was gonna start pouring from the speaker.

bondman00794 1 year ago
Fender Princeton reverb silverface (late seventies).
realdocloco 1 year ago
I have the same thing. Late 70s aswell. Thank you for answering my question.
bondman00794 1 year ago
Is it really that loud? So I am guessing it is loud enough to use with a drummer? Like practice? Oh and does it have a headphone output?

Fantastic playing! You have a very nice touch with your music. I am waiting for this amp to arrive so I can put it through its paces.

Hi - the only rattle I experienced was from the cheap EL84 tube holder - once fixed, I have no rattle anymore.

Damn!! This amp is just awesome as I suspected it to be!! Nice catch once again Doc!!
It's a shame that it wouldn't be suitable for home playin'. Guess my neighbors would kick the shit out of me... If they are still alive!! (^_^)

Hey man, thanks for the demo, this thing sounds like an angry little bastard about to explode!
Btw. what was the lick you played in the beginning?
centrum2k4 2 years ago
It's a song of mine.
realdocloco 2 years ago
Cool, I really dig it. Sounds like Clapton payed a visit to ACDC!
But then again, pretty much anything which involves a LP and a Bluesbraker like amp sounds a bit like Clapton

how does this compare to the blackstar ht5 for low volume house playin
sssam65 2 years ago
There's no "low volume "on this amp - it's loud as heck.

And the Blackstar..... :)
