Yo dude, I can safely say I'm a very experienced terrain maker. Dont use a hot wire cutter. They cut the foam to randomly. Go out and buy alot of blades and a x acto knife you;ll need to change the blade about every 10 minutes of cutting but it takes a bit of practice but you get much more control out of the shapes you can make.
