Actually, Charlie Green died in 1936 not 1931. He made his last recordings in 1932. as a member of Chick Webb's Orchestra. They were backing Louis Armstrong on a record date for Victor. Green solos on "Hobo, You Can't Ride This Train". The trombone soloist on the Henderson record of Fidgety Feet is Jimmy Harrison.
fantastic sound coming from that machine the cresendo sounds superb! have you tried a decca salon sound box on that gramophone the sound would even be better the salon sound boxes are swiss and better than any hmv 5a or 5b
Never heard this take before and it's good.Charlie Green trombone, was found in 1931 on someone's doorstep frozen to death. He was penniless and homeless.Sad end to the greatest trombone player of the 1920s
One of the classic early jazz recordings of Louis Armstrong with Fletcher Henderson. This sounds like an alternate take to the version I usually hear on lp. Armstrong's solo is slightly different and the trombone player adds a few notes in one place.
