  • Ah glad I stumbled across this video, I think you saved the best quote for last with mark twain. Good stuff.

  • "Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion....are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments."-Charles Carroll.

Ben Franklin my have been a great mind but if you see something as a barrier, in his case the christian religion, then that means you are thinking to much upon it. think of religion as a guideline to morals not science.

  • Jefferson owned 200 slaves. I think that says it all.

  • As a christian I find always very interesting to try to perpective things from a atheistic point of view;I must say that, this quotes make lot of sense and I can understand why people don't believe that, maibe there's a God...I don't blame them;I have doubts myself but,I found it requires more faith from me not to believe, than believe...maibe I'm just ignorant but,I cannot understand the all process of cause effect without put it down to,a first cause that,in itself is the genesis of all...

  • My favorite: Isaac Asimov

  • Interesting but... If you ever decide to make another, please remember that most people cannot speed-read, if you read the quotes slowly before going on to the next it would help. I found that I had to have my finger on the pause (space) bar most of the time in order that I could read the quotes and then give a short thought to what was meant. Otherwise most interesting. So, some people involved with the American constitution were atheists eh? No president of recent times admitted that.

  • IF THERE IS NO GOD THEN WE ARE ANIMALS> ANIMALS HAVE NO MORALS ALL THEY THINK ABOUT IT EAT. SO IF WE ARE ANIMALS IM NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO MY MORALS IM GOING TO ACT LIKE AN ANIMAL> AND I WILL KILL EVERY SINGLE ATHEIST IN FRONT OF THEIR MOTHER> IM BIGGER IM STRONGER AND IM AT THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN> SO IF WE ARE MONKEYS YOU BETTER START RUNNING FUCKIN PUSSYS

  • Death is a mystery that no living person can penetrate.

It's all well and good to say that you don't believe in the existence of a god and that you believe that death is the end of any particular life, but to conclude that the concept that life does not end at death is "dangerous nonsense" is to shut one's eyes and close one's mind to unlimited possibilities.

The concept of life after death is in no way limited to any religion's conception of it.

  • @7jack7 While we cannot prove that death is truly the end, you cannot prove it isn't. Seeing that we are at an impasse, and that beautiful feelings are not solid grounds for any argument, we would be better served by removing superstition, getting over petty cultural differences, and taking efforts to make life better for everyone.

  • Faith may not be able to move moutains, but you should see what it can do to a couple of skyscrapers.

What do you call a person that relies only on faith to be healed?.........The dearly departed.

  • Atheism FTW!

  • "When you talk to god it's Prayer.

When god talks to you it's schizophrenia"

  • wow maybe its just what youve read and heard manifesting itself back sub to concious. a belief in any god is a case of someone needing medical attenion

  • Faith is based on the transcendance of our senses, science is a tool searching for truth within our senses. I believe that they both deserve to exist.

  • some of my favorite quotes.

    however the music was horrid.

    keep making solid vids!!!

  • mint vid cheers

"if god doesn't answer your prayers then someone else's is more needed"

    Peace

  • This is made of WIN!

  • No presidential candidate today would dare to quote Adams, Franklin, or Jefferson.

  • Netwriter, in case you weren't aware of it, this video is on the favorites on "why won't god heal amputees" religious discussion site. It is my second favorite video, in close second to "three keys to heaven", a parody that I love showing my devout friends and watching them take the bait while I sit back and smile, knowing that it's sarcasm. Google the amputee site, go to "on youtube", then click see all 99 videos and you'll find yours.

  • Thanks for the info morgan.

  • I shudder to compare the outstanding minds of the fathers of America with the current fool that Jesus saved from the bottle.

  • Amen!!! gph61

  • Thanks for the videos Netwriter, great stuff!

  • That's fantastic. I'm trying to do something similar

  • Amazing video, truly great minds.

  • Thank you!

  • Many important anti-christian thinkers in history have had no problems at all with religions like buddhism or jainism. It is not difficult to see why that is so, considering the incredibly immoral christian track record. After studying Nietzsche I was shocked to discover how superficial and deranged christian teachings actually are compared to f.e. buddhist teachings.

  • When some prominent figure like Adams makes two completely conflicting and contradictory statements regarding religion, some contingent of atheists will completely ignore the pro-religion statement and smugly point to the contrary statement as the only one worthy of merit. Interesting.........

  • I almost shudder at the thought of alluding to the most fatal example of the abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved -- the Cross. Consider what calamities that engine of grief has produced! - John Adams

  • these are skeptic quotes, not merely atheist quotes. Adams's criticism is fair, and certainly belongs in this video. Washington, Jefferson, and I believe even Paine were deists also. This isn't an "atheist" video perse.

  • This video does not believe that God exists. I will endorse it and forever save it on my big hard disk.

  • There is a great deal of misrepresentation in this video that all of the people quoted were anti-religion.

  • As I understand the Christian religion, it was, and is, a revelation. But how has it happened that millions of fables, tales, legends, have been blended with both Jewish and Christian revelation that have made them the most bloody religion that ever existed? - John Adams

  • So what have you proven with your response Net? That John Adams was a hypocrite? At the very least he is contradicting himself. Funny, when religions have certain doctrines that are sometimes conflicting or self-contradictory, atheists say that it all must therefore be dismissed, out of hand, as unfit for further evidence or discussion.

  • In one quote he was speaking of religion in general and in the one I posted he was speaking of Christianity. It is clear of his opinion of Christianity. He apparently had more tolerance for other religions.

  • This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it!!!

    -- John Adams

What Adams was saying, in its actual context:

Twenty times in the course of my late reading have I been on the point of breaking out, "This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it!!!" But in this exclamation I would have been as fanatical as Bryant or Cleverly. Without religion this world would be something not fit to be mentioned in polite company, I mean hell.

  • Adams's last vestige of ignorance. Had he the 200 additional years of information that we do, I'm sure he would have been smart enough to toss out all of the bathwater, knowing it contained no baby.

  • Drinking wine is a spiritual experience to some because a drunken stupor makes the drunk unattached to the physical world. God is what each man thinks it is. I can only walk away from a God fight because it lowers my conciousness.

  • nice video...abetty stfu who gives a fuck if u'r a christian or not and who gives a fuck about u'r primitive philosophy

  • First of all anyone can claim the title CHRISTIAN and it takes a real Christian to behave Christ Like. I don't care what they claim or say.I LAUGH at yall none-believers are trying to find every aspect of the bible where there is no evidence to be a Lie. Yall stay Hatin on CHRISTIANS, trying every way possible to break us! But we plead "the blood". Christ is real and the more yall try to prove it to be false I know he is real b/c that's the devil trying to decieve the elect!

  • If you seek the truth, willing to accept what you find, then you will find it. Otherwise, you will remain an ignorant, hateful, blind tool of a man made institution.

  • Abetty, you are not a christian, quit lying to yourself. You are a Paulian. BTW who created the devil, knowing before he created him what he would eventually do? It all comes back to your evil god.

  • Yes I am a Christian! For you to to sit there and don't "BELIEVE" you have alot of nerves to tell whether I'm a Christian or not! Yes your right GOD knew it would happen, and he knew Jesus Christ would die for our sins and save us! The sad things about it is you think the devil wins b/c he's so bad! ha he knows he has little time left! So he decieve the lost like you. We Christians already WON! We have the VICTORY!

  • You have a computer and a roof over your head. You ignore the teachings of *christ* so you are not a Christian. Your god created the devil. The devil is a christian, you are not. Get over it.

  • When did you guys win? And doesn't the bible tell you not to be a sanctimonious pain in the ass?

  • Great video... there are a lot of Christians out there who say people like Thomas Jefferson was a Christian, but they ignore those peoples' actual words.

  • Imagine the following:

A Christian is sitting on a bench eating his sandwiches during his lunch-break.

Of a sudden Jesus comes down from above and sits next to him and says: "Hey, I'm not really the son of God". Would he be believed? Course not!

  • I like how this was set up.

  • It took me a minute to get the last thing Mark Twain said, but I think what he meant was; There's not that much prophet in Satanism, whereas allot of people have made fortunes off of Christianity.

  • Amen brother

  • Like a breath of fresh air. Thank you.

  • Bloodyinkpen thats aperfect example of a self reinforcing delusion.

  • awesome

  • Great quotes, shame about the music.

  • Amen to that!

  • Thank you.If I can just turn one more christian fanatic away from there faith, I will die happily. Ive already turned two of my girlfreinds into atheist and one of there brothers.Long live reason and rational.

  • That's fantastic. I'm trying to do something similar to a couple of people on youtube, but it's really difficult. How did you do it?

  • Spectacular, good sir. Bravo. Bravo.

  • some laser sharp words from america's icons for today's religious right who stake claim to our heritage. many more jefferson quotes where those came from.

  • "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ."-Colossians 2:8

  • All this [Paul's writing] is nothing better than the jargon of a conjurer who picks up phrases he does not understand to confound the credulous people who come to have their fortune told. - Thomas Paine

The Bible is a wonderful source of inspiration for those who don't understand it. - George Santayana

  • You just owned yourself. (TheTruth)

  • Truth, that passage just told you not to base your opinions on what you can see for yourself.

    "human tradition" being human nature.

"basic principles of this world" being science.

It tells you to believe a 2000+ year old book instead of what you can see and observe for yourself. How damned foolish is that?

Sorry but that passage just prooves your willful ignorance.

  • "If somebody says something that makes more sense than this book, ignore them and continue to be a fool." -Colossians 2:8

  • That's not quite what that verse says, though it is a good paraphrase. I don't think you should have put it in quotes.

  • Where did you get those quotes from the founding fathers? That is fascinating!

  • I have been collecting them for years. Message me thru my channel and I will give you the links I have. I also have a program called "Correct Quotes" which is a gold mine.

  • great video

  • nice!

  • Excellent, and the timing was fine.

  • You did it again Netwriter!congratulations for showing the truth, keep It going.

  • It is so true that to call the bible the word of god is to be blaspheming!

  • Thank you!

  • That was indeed brilliant!

  • A+!

  • VERY WELL DONE! again a great video!

  • Good stuff. That first Asimov quote has been my favourite religious quote for years.
