Beautiful! Your sounds is amazing! I only came across The Division, Recorder a couple of days ago, I have them on loan. As the books are out of print now I'll be buying the flute version soon. I am playing A Division on a Ground, Finger for a presentation in April, looking forward to get cracking on it!
This performance is simply fantastic: you two are great musicians! I'm a beginner recorder player and I hope in the future I'll be able to play my instrument so well too :D
This is (in my opinion, of course) the most beautiful version i have heard of this magnificent piece, and, having been a fan of it since i was a child, i've heard quite a few versions. On top of that, you two performed it superbly. Thanks for uploading!
I have two questions, then: Whose arrangement is it? Have you released a cd or any other sort of recording of you two playing renaissance music?
Abandon all of ye olde ideas! We are Renaissancers! Thou shalt spin the growing of plants, then the nutrients absorbed by each plant present shall be in the other yard! That is by Science, our principle! Then we shall trade, the lost activity! We shall invent banks! That is ye capitalism! Ye Man hath ye power, not God! Ye Man shalt invent! Call that ANTROPOCENTRISM! No more Middle Ages!
Splendida performance!
If it's written for flute and continuo then the there is sufficient music on the score to play the piece entirely on the keyboard. Merely, the right hand plays the melody assigned the flute and the left plays the fundamental bass notes without necessarily realizing them. This would be the rudest interpretation but possible chords and embellishments could be filled in where appropriate at the performer's discretion to enrich the performance.
I play the recorder a bit myself, and Greensleeves is one of my favourite tunes. I have also played numerous improvisations over this theme on the keyboard over the years. Such a beautiful melody!

Where can I get the sheet music?

It's on the Werner Icking archive, for free. Or, you can get the facsimile from Performer's Facsimiles. It's quite readable.

is there a version of this what you can play on piano/keyboard?
pitbikecrazy 3 years ago
Probably yes it is, but this version is composed in the start of XVIII° century for a melodic instrument and basso continuo

I needs the Harpsichord. I don't know what my love of those instruments is...
hellomate639 3 years ago
This is precious playing "Greensleeves", I like very much.
Harpsichord playing is also very good itself,
but I think the sound of harpsichord is a little bit stronger for me...
If it is possible I'd like to listen to the
version with Virginal or even solo.
Thank you for your playings and I have been
very enjoying them.
