  • Woo! Arizona and Big Lots FTW!

  • great video

  • is it posibble to use brake cleaner to clean every detail on the engine? thanks

  • armor all is my 2005 malibu's v6 engine's best friend

  • so i recently got my licence and my car. I don't know much about cars...if i were to send you some pictures of my engine could you help me out with some pointers? oh and i drive a 1990 BMW 735iL.

  • @SupaDupaIan, yes you can do that. i will message u and give u my email. -BOGAR!

  • @j45007 i watched the whole video but i'm still scared to get all or any of the elctrical parts wet....there seems to be a lot more electrical parts in the newer cars too.

How many miles does you caddy have?

How much would it cost to just have a professional do it?

  • @SupaDupaIan Nice car!

  • @JoSigurd92

its for sale! xD im looking to get a 2001 740i

  • great before and after, can't wait to clean up my engine bay now. Should look amazing if you job is anything to go by.

  • DO YOU LIVE HERE IN Arizona ?

  • awesome videos, even tho ur working on old cars my 08 dodge looks amazing, no more autozone and getting degreasers now i got DAWN! haha

  • this video helps alot i jus bout a 1990 cadillac brougham 5.7 liter with 79,000 miles i runs like a champ i gotta clean the engine

  • One thing though is it was an easier job on that engine with the TBI and closed air filter unit. What if you've got a carb with an open unit? You also have almost no loose electrical wiring like emissions wiring I could see. How do you spray or clean an engine like that?

No cleaning under the TBI unit either, on the intake manifold or heads and block. Wanted to see the degreaser in action on the intake or actual engine block.

  • GREAT video!!!

Didn't notice you covering the battery & terminals though?!

  • Great video, you got me worried though... I've been dumping engine brite all over my engine compartment. At the beginning you said you weren't going to use it, and were going to explain why it was bad on the rubber/plastic/vinyl components in the video but either I missed it or it was gone. Definitely going to switch to your way of detailing the engine. Mine was: water, engine brite, scrub, water, dry, foaming silicone, buff. It was lazy and worked, but maybe bad?

  • dosent soap corrode rubber. So there goes your coolant hose.

  • looool. suavely dressed, car salesmen-esque guy at the end

  • great vid,

  • the one person that disliked this rides a bike

  • great video. thanks.

  • dude ur engine bay is sooo CLEAN! i wish my 307 was like that

  • Is it a good idea to spray lubricant over a serpentine belt? Would that not cause it to slip?

The end result turned out fantastic. Great video.

  • Hey great vid im gonna use when i get my 48 Hudson (i hope) out of the junkyard

  • Bogar? Who is this guy?!!! :P

Thanks for the great tips man!

  • i looked at mi motor small 4 cilinder.i have w 40 only.i had stil have doubts

am not shure.think in the summer time use bit of water soap w 40 with out hose.i again enjoy seen it

  • Thank you so much for this video!

I've been looking all over the internet tonight for a good how to video on cleaning older engines (I have a 1980 Ford E-150, 302 V8 Windsor) and this is the best, it'll be a lot cheaper than buying all that special engine cleaning stuff and looks like it will work a lot better too.

I was wondering if you have any tips on using a pressure washer for engine cleaning? Because this engine is coated in mud, oil, dirt, and more, never been cleaned.

  • Hey , I love the videos! I was just wondering about the correct way to clean leather seats?

  • Hello, i think your videos are fantastic! This is what i find most enjoyable when it comes to looking after my car, i live in the UK and as you know, keeping a car as clean, dry and as shiny as your white caddillac is more or less near impossible! My neighbours are probably tired of seeing me out front polishing and cleaning my car.. i just wish that i had a garage to work inside and wax the car out of the rain...

I wax at least once a month, with Simoniz hard paste wax (the original) its great

  • american people have BIG engines, my whole car could fit in his engine bay.

  • @mrwfraser lol yea mine too its a 1980 honda accord and i still live in america lol

  • hi BOGAR, how often should you clean your engine, i'm not a car enthusiast, but i like to keep all my stuff neat. Thanks!

  • You sound a lot like Christopher Walken. brilliant.

  • Hey, i got the same model but 1085, what I need to know is where you bought "supertech lubricant" and "supertech carboretor" cant find it anywhere.

also the pre-owner left the engine with some corrosion all over the surfaces (even plastic) should i use sand paper to get it off or just clean it?

  • Hi I have a question not so related to engine cleaning but since you mentioned corrosion my car's battery wires the metal parts that connect to the battery forgot what they were called are quite corroded and I was wondering if battery spray helps and if I should get some new ones.

  • Nice job on the detailing. I noticed you said that Armour all attracts the dust, so true. Try a product called 303 Protectant, it has a anti static agent in it and works great. Great looking Cadillac, keep looking after that classic. The front end reminds me of of our Statesmans that we had here down under in the 1980s. Go to YouTube and type in 'WB Statesman'

  • thanks! this video is really informative! I'm still nervous I may break or disconnect something.. (It's my first car)

  • Great vid,Bogar

  • I have a 1985 Bronco II with a carbureted 2.8 V6. I really need to take it to the car wash and power spray it. I'm not sure if I should leave it running or what. There are a lot of open relays on the passeger side and a lot of open vacuum lines from where I removed the smog pump when I rebuilt it. Although I do know a lot about engines, I do not know how to clean them.

  • dude you are so amazing man really useful tips thanks (Y)

  • great video! very helpful

  • I have a 95 Chevy two door Tahoe. The factory alluminum wheels clear coat has a dull look to them, I was thinking of using paint stripper to remove all clear coat and paint then take a cloth buffing wheel and polish compound to give it a mirror like shine then spraying another coat of clear. Do you see any problems with this? Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  • Just did my 2001 GT TDI today. The majority is hard plastic covers. Covered up the alternator and any obvious sensors then went for it. Kept the water hose on 'spray' instead of 'jet' and when using it kept it moving at all times. Came out excellently. Future cleans should be possible without the hose to bring it back up to shine now the grease/grime has been removed.

  • mine parents have a opel corsa cdx 1.4 from 1998.its compact car.

i thrust bogar i believe bogar i have doubts.am afraid.

but maby yse little soap on tubes plastic won t hurt

i understand you use lubricant on the belts also the V belt ?

  • i would t touch mi motor i appoldges

  • I love guys like you that take care of their classic equipment the way you do, your car loves you as well, thanks for the great vid!!!

  • @Mrphatbastard1, Thanks alot...its also fun to do. and carz like this need to be taken care of!!!! they deserve it!! thanks for visiting my videos.

  • I noticed you have a newer Deville just like i do. Can you make a video of how to clean the Northstar engine? i know it has a lot of sensors and a lot of electrical stuff so i do not want to damage it.Thanks

  • Hey Some one Shops at Big Lots!!

  • @dvddmc, LOL.

  • i liv in ireland, and love cleanin my car i sometimes spend hours onit, but after watchin your vids i'l be spend alot more learnd alot of tips of yuu cool vids msn :D

  • @markbld2002, I am Glad it was a motivation to you!!

  • @markbld2002 you should consider getting a life if you love cleaning your car that much

  • i have a question, can u show me list all of the parts u covered when u cleaned the engine with water..tnx..

  • good video with alot of information i been cleaning engine compartments myself off and on and most times i dont bother covering anything cause it really wont hurt newer vehicles since most everything is sealed from the factory and i also run the engine for a few minutes and all is fine but overall a good video for those who never done this before

  • the only problem is that wd40 or lubricants build up dust. They are essentially oil and oil and lubricants attract dust because they are "stickyish"

  • am afraid to wash mi engine.wd 40 is that also a lubriant ?

  • very nice video man. great to see good care aswell.

  • thecar fucking suck!

  • Bogar, great video. I use my leaf blower to dry my engine. It works great and gets all the water out the engine bay.

  • lol, retards corrosion

  • BOGAR thats sooo much fo doing theses kinds of videos, your videos are way way better then ive seen on youtube. This helped alot.

  • Meguiars sells a product called Hyper Dressing which can be diluted up to 4:1 depending on your gloss. It has better longevity and less dust attraction than Armor All. I have found that Armor All has the least durability of any water based dressing but does a decent job of brightening up an enigne compartment. Great video again!

  • I like to use a less invasive method. I will spray an all purpose cleaner on the engine and then fill a bucket with an all purpse cleaner solution. I then take a brush and hit all the areas possible with the brush and I also use the cotton terry cloth to hit areas too small for the brush. Then, I will fill a separate bucket with plain water, grab a different large brush, dip the brish in the water and just lather the engine with the soaked brush. I have never had a problem using this method.

  • BOGAR, would a regular non wire brissle brush work as well? I don't want to scratch up the surface on the parts to much. Also, is that a TBI Vortec 350?

  • @Tallerico500, Yes u could use a "NonWire" brush. But it will nt be as effective. And u dont hv to worry to much abt scratching the surface 2 much because i only use a wire brush on non delicate surfaces. &i do not use it on plastic or painted areas. Also not on rubber hoses or chrome. If u notice in my video i use a different method & a different brush on those more sensitive areas.Watch the video again & more carefully and you will learn. If u Got any other questions, jus ask. Thanks, -BOGAR!

  • @j45007 I just tried this yesterday on my car, with the wire brush, WD-40 and carb cleaner. Works like a charm!!! Thanks for the tips. I wish I would have known this a long time ago. :)

  • @Tallerico500 i dont think they had vortecs in 1990 but im almost 100% sure its a 350/5.7

  • @nicks1258 What threw me off was the Vortec style valve covers.

  • BOGAR~ u dun it again u always inspire me to get up and clean my ride great video

  • @bigtejas, COOL!! and what kind of ride you Got fool??

  • @j45007 ....JUST a lil cadillac fleetwood brogham 93 hyper white on the outside n the peanut butta leather...thats all lol

  • can you use a toothbrush in some of the smaller areas?

  • Thanks for the great tips! never thought id be using WD-40 and dish soap to clean my engine :)

  • Nice work

  • Great video Bogar! I never knew to use lubricant like that...what an awesome tip. Thanks!

  • Wow that engine is clean! I'm going to have to get started on my Park Avenue engine and the 86 Cutlass I bought not to long ago really needs some work. Its covered in grease and gunk so bad that it will probably take the summer just to get it clean, anyway great video man! -Yoshi

  • so beautiful lol. I feel that I am to lazy to do all that. maybe in the summer I will give it a go, but I don't think my engine will ever look like that sadly.

  • i need to use that on my 87 brougham

  • wow, I've never thought about using a lubricant to make it shine. I usually use tire shine, but that stuff is expensive. Next time I will use some WD-40. Thanks for the tips!

  • @mjs182004, Great!! Thanks alot dude for viewing and commenting. -BOGAR!

  • sweet video bogar! i'm gonna use this to spice up the engine bay in my 91 Trans Am. Speaking of which... do you have any tips on renewing aluminum parts that get tarnished from age? since my car has the tuned port injection which is a massive chunk of aluminum sitting on top of the engine, unfortunately it became pretty worn out and dirty. You know, typical aluminum wear and tear.

  • this made me remember when i washed the engine of my old z it didn't start for three days LOL! ah trial and error! a warning to my fellow lt1 camaro and trans am newbsters BEWARE THE OPTI-SPARK make sure NOTHING GETS TO IT!

  • isnt dishsoap for dishes?

  • that engine looks prestine.

  • @j45007, what is Carburetor spray, what other names it goes by?

  • @Kenster1025, Carburetor cleaner.

  • that lube and carb cleaner trick is cool! Might use it on the Metro.

  • @jmoyet, you have a metro?

  • @jmoyet, Let me know how it goes for you. That will be interesting, -BOGAR!

  • Hey J is it okay to spray the entire engine with a pressure washer? By this I mean open the hood and spray down on the engine and then under the car and spray up. After covering wiring harness and battery ect.

  • @andrewdoyle88, A pressure washer is to much pressure, you could start to peel paint, damage worn engine parts, tear off wires, penetate a gasket and cause it to prematurely leak, get water in areas you dont want it to be, etc. etc. I would only use a pressure washer or a car wash gun on the bottom half of the block and or other isolated areas. I mention these things only because i have seen people make those mistakes. -BOGAR!

  • Your engine bay dirty is cleaner than mine has ever been haha. Awesome job!

  • @Righty736, thats cool to know!

  • Nice video man, the Crown Victoria could definatly use an engine detail.

  • @Illousion1, i am glad i helped you or motivated to do yours.

  • that's the beauty of being a full partner, you can make the videos as long as you need them to be.

  • @Opinionatedguy1989, Yes i know, it came in handy!

  • @j45007 who cares if your videos are long.

  • @j45007 do a review on the 1981 to 1989 chrysler fifth avenue.

  • nice vid man well thoght out!. i've been using trick like these for years as well and it does great

  • Great video. The before and after shots show just how much of a difference a little bit of TLC will make in improving your ride's appearance. Thanks for the video.

  • great job

  • @jidstores, Thanks alot for commenting. -BOGAR!

  • wooo!!!!.. finally, the video!!!! thanks!!

  • @shane8184, Yes sir the wait is over!!

  • awesome video bogar! one of my favrouties thus far

    5 stars as always!

i do have one question. can WD-40 be a good substitute for lubricant? if not i can go buy some, what brand do u reocmend?

  • @randomrazr, Thank you Random. And also refer to time: 3:00 in my video for the answer to your question. -BOGAR!

  • thanks man for the video

  • @aooskvarek, and thank you for watching and commenting. -BOGAR!

  • Just plain awesome Bogar!!

  • @bimjales, wow!! With words like that i may do it again!

  • lovely job mate

  • @AU043223, THANKS!! I appreciate the comment. -BOGAR!

  • I got a 97 s-10 truck and I like keeping it looking good. The engine is the worst part. The valve covers are covered in thick built up oil and dirt. I think its been leaking oil... How is the best way to take care of that? just do what you did in the video? or is there any special suggestions you might have?

  • @Zwitchau, First go to the carwash and use the pressure gun with plain water and take off all that gunk from around the valve covers. DO NOT pressure wash the whiole engine that way. Then go home and follow the instructions in this video. And also see about getting your valve cover gaskets replaced. -BOGAR!

  • @j45007 sounds good man. THANKS!!

  • does leaving grese grime on the suspension keep it from rusting? i have an old ford pick up (1988) and i live in maine with all the snow and salt in the winter

  • @casebutler, yes it does and so does lubricant.

  • I believe I'm gonna do this to the Linc AND the F-150's engine bay :D

  • @JakeDaSnakeFilms, yeah your linc would look great after you do this! Please show it after. -BOGAR!

  • Great video!!. I will for sure do this. What I do have is oil in between the carburetor and the intake manifold I tried cleaning it but it must have a leak because it still has oil. Man your engine has alot of hoses my caprice doesn't look all that cluthered I think its going to be easier. Thanks Bogar!

  • @Huije31, Thats Great Buddy, if you need help or have questions...JUST ASK!!

  • I'M GONNA DO THIS DEFINITLY THIS WEEK !

  • CAR DETAILING AWARD OF THE YEAR !

  • @crownman1, WOW THANKS J.

  • Wow that;s awesome!! I will be doing this to my car very soon! She needs it very bad!

  • @88BroughamLS, Thanks paL. Hope you watch the whole thing wn you got time.

  • @j45007 Oh I watched the whole thing alright. It sure didn't feel like 15 minutes though. I guess that's what happens when you are enjoying something!

  • @88BroughamLS, Ahh Fer RiL?? thanks my man!

  • @88BroughamLS

  • @randomrazr Stay tuned tonight my friend!

  • @88BroughamLS

  • @chicago85bearz, I Bought it in October 3, 2009 with 69, 936 miles. And i now have 71, 120 miles on it and it is a 1990.

  • Thats awesome dude you did a great job!

  • Ive been waiting for this video. I thank you Bogar. I feel more comfortable doing this to my car. the engine configuration is the same as your cadillac but mine is a little older. thanks again.

  • Funny i just did this recently. Put a full new exhaust on my Grand Cherokee. My god the oil build up near the bottom of the block was horrible. A tooth brush, brake cleaner, many many times later and its clean.

  • Great video yo i have a 1985 buick lesabre that im bout to trickout in may

  • 2nd

  • A tip if your CAR DOES NOT START after cleaning it, Air dry all the igntion, Then spray it down with WD 40. It worked on my LT1 Impala! (The coil got too wet)
